Will be compatible with USM, which inspired this mod. These sabers are a little more detailed, which means a higher number of polys. The range is from 750-2600, with Darth Maul's doublesaber being the highest of the pack, the idea was detail while keeping in a realistic poly range.

Target release date: November 1st (may change if problems are encountered)

Feedback very welcome..

WIP threads for mods are more than welcome in Holowan

It can stay here unless you really want it moved, just let us know...

Yikes. Agreed, like, x10! These are fantastic; they'll compliment the USM nicely. Good work!

Thanks very much Chainz, you have no idea how much your praise helps validate my hard work as I was very worried that noone would touch it with that beautiful USM mod out. I also didn't want to step on any toes, I started with a few of the sabers after playing with T7's tuts amd before I knew it I had 10 made, then 15. I believe you said, once you get the steps down you can churn these puppies out with your eyes closed and I believe truer words were never spoken.

I made this with the idea that people could use both, as there are some here that weren't made with the USM as it focused on the more popular sabers plus the awesome NPC replacements. I still have much work to do such as: crystals.2da work, some icons, and the installer to ensure compatiability with USM. These sabers will take up fields w_lghtsbr_075-w_lghtsbr_099 as it was made with the intent to go hand in hand with USM.

I wasn't sure that the thread belonged here, as I know this is the most checked part of Holowan, I would appreciate if it could stay here....

Well your "churning" has produced some sweet looking toys

I have a feeling this WIP will receive quite a warm welcome and a grand following... hehehe (yours truly included)

As far as mods "competing" (such as with the USM, the Holowan Plug-in, High Level Force Powers, etc.) I personally don't think it's much of an 'issue'. I'd like to think (and hope) that we're all here to help out each other. The more sabers the better. Heck, the more anything the better.. Oldflash and others proved that with their Ultra-fine saber contributions which I use with USM to this date. Add with that RedHawke's & Maverick187's saber mod... well, I've got the prettiest damn sabers around

A wise RedHawke once (or twice) said... "make mods for yourself first. If people like it, they'll let you know...either by word or download count"

Though not a 'required' step, making it compatible with other mods is a juicy little bonus. Sometimes it can be done, other times it can't. The fact you're aiming for that goal just goes to show alot of people here you do in fact keep the player's in mind. And that's really what we're here for right? To make the game more enjoyable for the player

Since KotOR Series is lacking with an Official Toolset (meh.. our toolmakers more than took care of that! hehehe ) Holowan Labs is our (modders) support group...
Competition isn't really a forethought around here... if it was, half my mods wouldn't exist since they're really a compilation of support, tips, tuts & tricks contributed by several members of the modding community I seriously doubt I could do this "on my own"...

Keep up the great work and keep us updated! These look stunning

I amazed its got this response, I'm glad I could help people enjoy this game just that much more or at least look foward to something for it . A future KotoR I version hasn't been ruled out either, as I like to jump back in forth between games after I learn something new or see a new mod out there.

I agree with this whole heartedly, I come from a different style (sim racing) modding community all together and was one of the admins of a very successful site before the n00bs ruined my drive and in the end that site. I took on that very creedo, as I believe if you aren't doing it for yourself in the first place where is the fun? I enjoyed making all these, and I am almost sad that the modeling/mapping portion is now completed..LOL

May not be required, but if you aren't understanding to the views of others you have problems outside of modding..lol The main idea is like redhawke said but if your gonna release it, I strongly believe you should make it easier for the user to work your mod, not only is it easier for them but easier for you if simply for the fact you'll have less questions/troubleshooting to address.

My readme reflects this, if not for the team effort around here by alot of folks like yourself, T7, Fred Tetra, cchargin, svosh, achilles, darth333, etc. just to name a few because their are way too many to mention. We wouldn't be nowhere, and that's the great thing about this place you guys make it so easy for us n00bs to HL to do it with semi ease and not having to ask alot of questions. As you can prolly notice I have under 20 posts but I've been here every day reading since I joined in July....lol

I will, I hope to have this finish before November 1st working with alpha still hasn't been my strong suit and I'm gonna be doing all new icons for my sabers as well as a bit of UTI work for proper descriptions of all the sabers as the only time consumers.

Sorry, Couldn't fit my reply into one post was giving me a tag error..lol

I hope you put this here for potential conflict imput, just so you know my Exiles Item pack uses sabers models 69 through 77 so our mods would conflict on 3 models. The Presiege Class mod I made with Maverick187 uses models 59 through 64...

So you could change your models 75, 76, and 77 to 65, 66, and 67 repectively and all should be compatable.

This is all just a suggestion on my part! As others around here can attest to, I personally am a big fan of compatability, and I so do love those new shiny toys!

Exactly the reason I put that here , so just in case I may have missed a popular mod that someone could help point me in the right direction to ensure the upmost compatibility.

Do you think I should use the fields after USM, or just change the 3? I wouldn't want anyone to get confused by them, as USM was very uniform which made it easier for us to find sabers that were included in the mod. I haven't done the final exports yet, as I want to wait till the compatibility issue is completely worked out.

Whichever way makes you do this less would probably be best... but in the end it is up to you!

Ok, I made the decision to use the fields after USM which would be 275-299 just simply for the fact I rather not seperate them. I do however have something planned for the unused fields in between Redhawkes mods, it may or may not be release with MSM. (how original huh )

They will be regular type sabers, hopefully if everything goes smooth and I get into the groove with making the Icons for MSM I can pump these out with it. I have 2 of them completed and a couple ideas for the third one so it very well may be possible to add them in with the pack as a seperate download.

I suppose I don't have to rush them, but I'd like to move on to some other things involved with KotoR/TSL editing.

These will be for KotoR II but a KotoR version hasn't been ruled out, although it won't be anytime soon but a possibility a few months down the road..

These look a lot like Hapslashes Sabers

Statemeant: you cannot stop me you cannot harm me, in order to do that I would need to stop being one of you; I have concluded that this is something I am willing to accept!

In short you have just shown me your soft meatbag-like underbellies and said “HK-47 please shot me repeatedly there until I die!”

In terms of what textures? If so the textures where made in the Hap style (as in I made them in the same manner), as I wanted them to look good but I can assure these models/textures are all made by me. I had a feeling after I finished the Dooku saber that this would come because of the similarites.

Difference in my sabers and Haps? about 1200 polys..lol

If theres any doubt, he's more than welcome to look at my meshes I'm at his forum everyday with the same exact screen name. I guess I should take it as a compliment, because that dude is amazing I wish I could model a saber as detailed as his and keep them under 1,000 polys..

No no no! This is a good thing, Hapslash is one of my favoritest Modders, and this means that yours is as good as his, to put it simply I love 'em, kudos (Now all we need is Rahns Saber)

Sorry man didn't mean to jump to conclusions, but I just wanted to make sure that wasn't the case. I really respect Hap alot, and I wouldn't want to have something get started over nothing I'm sure you can understand.

I dunno if I've ever seen Rahns saber, www.thelightsaber.com is down right now dunno if you can find pics, but if you can I may use that as the 3rd saber released with the seperate pack i mentioned earlier.

Slipstreme, I'll see what I can do with that

BtW - I have to change the fields once again, T7 informed me I can't go past the 255 model variation limit so as of right now instead I'll have to use 80-99 for the regular individual sabers, and then use 241-245 for the Jedi Clan sabers. Wish this wasn't the case, but compatibility reigns supreme

These look great. Just FYI on compatibility, my Heart of the Force Saber mod uses 250-255, so 241-245 sounds good to me!

Actually I misread what USM uses, but good news still I used 245-249 so we are good
