Adding new sounds

We all know that sounds are essential to areas; so how do I add them? Say I added a fountain, how would I place a sound to match that fountain.

First you'll need to make an .UTS template for your sound, which are used for placeable sounds. The UTS file sets the Resref of the sound file to play and determines if it should be a looping, reoccuring or single-shot sound, and if it starts playing automatically. It also sets things such as the volume, pitch and radius and elevation of the sound. The easiest way is to copy and existing UTS file and make changes to suit your need.

Then you need to place your placeable sound in the area. If you are using a GFF editor (KGFF), open the GIT file and add a new entry to the SoundList. Here you'll set the x,y,z coordinates of where you want your sound to be placed, and the resref of the UTS file you created.

Well, it worked just fine doing like this in the "new" area I made (the combat sim arena), where the fountains nere the Hutt have sound.

If you haven't made some mistake I don't know why it wouldn't work. Some things to check:

1) Make sure that the sound is set to play automatically in the UTS.
2) Make sure it's set to loop in the UTS.
3) Make sure the Resref to the sound file is correct.
4) Make sure you've set the sound radius wide enough or you won't hear it.

I never heard any sounds on your fountains in the combat sim arena- perhaps it is my sound card then. Though why would it play all other sounds? I'll check through as you suggested and see if I can get it to work. Thanks for your help.

No that hasn't worked either. That is really strange and is annoying!
