*Deac and the team enter, to see the revolving blue cylinder that is the datacore.*

Deac: Get that thing down. *He activates his comm*

Akaga: We can't get close to you with that Star Destroyer in the system. We've got to jump out.

Deac: And leave us here?!

Akaga: I'm sorry Commander. It's a stealth op. We'll try for a retrieval once it's gone.

Deac: Team 2? *The comm is silent. Deac turns to his men.* Team. We're pretty much stuck here, and this place is going to be flooded with Imps very soon. We need to destroy the datacore and see if we can get to a ship and escape.

Tech: What about the portals? We could maybe use them to evacuate...

Deac: Get to it. Now. We don't have long.

*A cloaked and hooded figure steps into the room in front of Deac, his face hidden in the shadows permeating the dimly lit datacore.

The voice that comes from under the hood seems somehow familiar. But strangely, the figure has absolutely no visible presence in the Force.*

Man: Sorry, Deac. I can't let you do that.

*The man ignites a lightsaber with a bright crimson blade*

----------

Yesterday

Yaga Minor

Cracken: *on Agric's holoprojector* Please brother, that "Rebellion" is no longer our concern. As with any republic, it will again fall into decadence and once again, we will be there to pick up the pieces. If you haven't noticed, "brother"...

*Cracken pauses for effect.*

Cracken: The War is over. The Jedi are no longer a threat to the Sith.

*Agric seems about to say something, but Cracken continues.*

Cracken: However, your Sith Army is impressive, and I must say, Father would be impressed... as usual... nevertheless, I don't exactly have a need for three thousand Sith now, unless you have a suggestion for their use?

Agric: Well if you're not up to fighting a war at the moment I suppose we could use them as agents to undermine the Rebellion - I'm sorry - Republic, and speed up the inevitable.

*There is a long silence. Cracken's holoprojection stares at Agric piercingly, seeming to stare right though him.

Then Cracken disappears, the connection cut.

Outside in space, the Executor explodes spectacularly. Cracken Hideki Palpatine's presence winks out from the Force*

----------

Elysium: Blackwald

*The fire seems to shift as it approaches Orion, then twists and loop around her, increasing in heat. Orion grits her teeth but keeps moving Gerd. She struggles from the riverbed.

Sejhan raises his arms.*

Sejhan: Lekko najine forkahdio.

*A bright explosion rends the atmosphere and a burning hole wreathed in lightning appears in midair. Past the edges of the tear is a blood-red, turbulent sky laced with blackness. A wind kicks up as foul air rushes out through the tear.*

Sejhan: What you are looking into is the Quor'toth, a hole in the nexus of reality. Darkest of the dark worlds. Now, I can widen this portal until you, this planet, and if need be this entire system of galaxies is swallowed up by a world which you cannot begin to understand. Catching my drift?

*Orion stops. Even Aren looks surprised.*

Sejhan: Or you can keep your word and kill the child.

*No one moves.*

Sejhan: Do it now!

Farran: Aren, what are you doing?

*Still, no one moves. Sejhan spreads his arms.*

Sejhan: Don't say I didn't warn you.

*The tear in reality widens rapidly, swallowing up forest and sky, ground and trees toppling through. In the woods, Skadi's surviving attackers seem to melt away, breaking off their attack. The Shadow ships activate their engines and move away from the tear. One of the Shadows, caught by sliding ground, falls through the tear and vanishes. The melting stream drains away into the expanding abyss.*

Aren: Shame.

Gilian: No!

*K'Warra moves unexpectedly, rushing towards Orion and Gerd.*

Aren: Kill it.

*The Shadows open fire. Gilian fires at Aren at the same time, but too slowly. Aren dodges away, and the bullets which slash into her ships hull.

At the same time, K'Warra smashes directly into Orion and Gerd. He strikes Orion in the chest, knocking her into the river.

The bullets glance off an invisible field around Gerd and go wide.

The Shadows surrounding Odin release their containment beam and leap away to the safety of their ships.

Gilian falls, riddled with bullets. Two Shadows fall with her, caught in the burst of her stolen gun.

K'Warra scoops up Gerd, ignoring the fire surrounding her, and leaps into the air, spreading his wings in the wind. The two hurtle through the tear.*

Orion: *struggling in the water* No. NO!

*She hurls herself into the air towards the portal, barely standing on frozen feet. A bullet strikes her, then another, then another, and she falls, landing hard.

K'Warra and Gerd vanish into the roiling red air of the portal.*

Sejhan: Wow. I didn't count on that. Kinda takes care of my problem.

*Sejhan raises his hands.*

Sejhan: Forkahdio najine lekko.

*The hole in the air shrinks to a pinpoint and disappears, leaving a small chasm where the piece of forest and ground had been swallowed up.*

Sejhan: Alright then. *He looks down at his opponents, most still staring at where the portal used to be.* Have a nice summer.

*Sejhan disappears into thin air.*

Aren: Well. This is going to be interesting to explain.

*She turns to leave.*

Shadow: Should we do something about...

Aren: No. *Glancing around at those remaining* Let the gods sort them out.

*She leaps into the ship she'd exited from on her arrival. The Shadow ships lifts off into the air, blue ripples surrounding it, then streak into the trees and vanish into thin air, taking the Shadows with them.

Silence descends.*

*The Blades are silent, watching.*

*Odin again rests his spear against his shoulder as he walks forward into the wreckage that was left. The layers of ice built around Skadi fade as her skin tone returns to a more normal human color, her sword turns to mist as she walks towards Odin*

Odin: How are you doing Skadi?

Skadi: A little sore, and tired.

Odin: To be expected, you fought well.

Skadi: Thank you m'lord...what of Gerd?

Odin: Gone for now...

*Odin continues to walk until he comes upon Orion laying down in muddy water. Her arm a mass of blacken blisters. Odin sighed and shook his head and sat on a nearby rock, resting the butt of his spear again on teh ground.*

Odin: Skadi do you mind grabbing Gillian and bringing her over.

*Skadi walks over to Gillian and easily picks her, and props her against a fallen tree, then pulls Orion out of the water and leans her against the tree next to Gillian. Skadi steps back and behind the two as Odin studies them for a moment.*

Odin: You two thought you knew best, didn't you? Thought you could change what is to come, and for your efforts all you gained is pain and suffering. You should have listened to followed what we told you...now what should I do with you?

*Orion tries to move her head, then grits her teeth*

Orion: You. I remember you. When you told us your manipulative lies. You did this. You used her. Now she's gone. One more victim of cruel prophecies. It's your fault!

*Her eyes burn white for a moment, then her eyelids droop and the glow fades. Blood pools underneath her.*

Orion: I could have done it... could have...

Shane: That won't be necessary. *Looking at Nereli* Assuming we are now allowed to proceed, now that we have lost K'laar once again...

Nereli: *to Svafa* Our teleporters can transport us to the Blade Gilian's location instantaneously, ser. What do you say to that?

Odin: Had you taken her, she would have killed you. Simply don't understand, regardless of what you do, nothing would have changed. What is fated will happen, I know I have tried to change it myself and it never has worked.

If you took Gerd, she would have killed you and returned to us...

Svafa: Elysium, the world Blade Gillian is on is under our protection. Due to a treaty, we cannot allow you to go there without escort. I assure you we will transport you there just as quickly as your teleporters, all that is needed is to take a quick turbolift ride, this may delay your arrival a couple of seconds.

Riebe nodded and entered the room she and Alyssa were to share. Alyssa was resting, but her eyes opened as Riebe entered.

"I wondered if you'd be along soon," she said cheerfully. Then, she saw something in Riebe's eyes she'd never seen before. "Are you... happy?"

"Of course," Riebe answered, chuckling. "I've been reunited with an old friend."

"And?" Alyssa pressed. Riebe laughed.

"And I've been invited on a hunt," she said. Alyssa raised an eyebrow.

"A hunt?" she echoed. Riebe nodded.

"You can come too, if you want," she offered. "In fact, they invited you."

"The Jedi have not 'hunted' since they first rescued you from the Sith," Alyssa objected. "But I'll come..."

"You're thinking of diplomacy," Riebe accused. "Alyssa, if the Aesir are hunting, there will be very few words spoken. Trust me. Some of them used to hunt with me."

"But..." Alyssa began.

"No buts," Riebe interrupted. "Either you come and you hunt like I taught you to hunt, or you don't come."

Alyssa was silent for a moment. Then, she shook her head. "Being on the Jedi Council has definitely affected my thinking patterns. You did teach me to hunt, Riebe. I'm coming."

Riebe broke into a grin. "That's what I'm talkin' about!"

"How much time do we have?" Alyssa wanted to know. Riebe shook her head.

"None," she answered. "Let's go."

Svafa: Please follow me then.

----------------------------
Gladsheim Station: Jedi Staterooms

*Valda looked over at the two Jedi Masters and the Sith hunter*

Valda: Everyone ready?

*Once she recieved confirmations she lead them to another turbolift.*

---------------------------------
Gladsheim Station: Docking Bay 33

*Turbolift doors opened Valda and the jedi stepped out, looking to her left Valda saw Svafa leading the Blades down the corridor and waited by the turbolift until Svafa reached them. Svafa glanced at the Jedi*

Svafa: Nice to see you again Riebe.

*Svafa and Valda walked side by side leading the group to a door that had a Valkyrie on either side. The Valkyries gave Svafa and Valda sword belts and then opened the door and followed once the group was inside.

The docking bay had a slight buzz as 500 Einherjar and 200 Valkyries talked to each other while waiting. Svafa and Valda lead the Blades and the Jedi towards the back of the bay where Idona, and Vidar were waiting.

Vidar nodded towards the blades*

Vidar: Thank you for not using your teleporters. We will...

*Before Vidar finished the loud rumble of a Bodhran sounded. The docking bay feel silent as teh Einherjar and Valkyries formed into ranks and faced the bay doors. On either side of the bay doors stood Freya and Freyj a hand stretched out towards each other they spoke softly, yet their words seemed to reverbrate around the docking bay, at once as loud as a shout and quiet as a whisper. A red beam lept from each of their hands, rapidly pulsating washing the bay in a redish glow. Then it was gone and the bay doors opened revealing not space but Blackwald on Elysium.

The Einherjar followed by the Valkryies moved silently forward through the doors and onto Elysium. Vidar, Idona, Svafa, the Blades and the Jedi were among the last to pass through the doors.

When Godwyn stepped foot on Elysium he turned around and saw nothing but the trees and underbrush of blackwald and watched in amazement as Valkyries suddenly appeared on Elysium once they crossed the bay door thesholds.*

Vidar: If the Blades will follow me I will take you to Gillian and Orion.

*Vidar and Svafa lead the Blades to where Odin was sitting, now with two Einherjar on either side, More einherjar stood in a large circle around Odin, Gillian, Orion, and Skadi, they parted to allow Vidar, Svafa and the blades through. Odin looked at Nereli as they approached.*

Odin: Good you are here, perhaps you can help me with a problem. Blade Gillian and Orion here have committed a number of crimes this day. Gillian is currently unconscious, and I before I give any kind of sentence I would like to know what caused her to take such actions as I'm sure you would also like ot know. If there is something you can do I would like to have this matter settled rather soon.

----------------------------

*Idona turned towards Godwyn, Riebe, and Alyssa*

Idona: So any questions so far?

*Nereli nods to Slythe* Slythe withdraws several small devices from his belt. He first goes to Gilian, and places a device shaped like a cup with a small spike inside over her chest. The device sparks. Slythe holds the device there till it sparks a few more times.

Then he puts it away and moves to Orion, taking out another device, small and rectangular in shape. He pulls it apart along a hinge, flips it around, then puts one end above Orion's bullet wound in her stomach, and squeezes. A small blue glow bursts from the end of the device and drenches the bullet wound. Slythe moves the device in a circle, and the flesh knits together, scabbing, then leaving a small scar. Slythe repeats the process with Orion's remaining bullet wounds, then runs the device across the rest of her injuries, causing them to repair or scab. He then puts away the device*

Slythe: Best I can do with carryon equipment.

*He pokes Orion's chin with his finger. Her eyes blink open, and she stares at the gathered group.

A moment later, Gilian takes in a breath and sits up.*

Gilian: *looking around* Oh. This cannot be good.

Lord Cracken, his unnaturally gotten supernatural powers drained by his son during the battle of Coruscant, stood no chance. His daughter and highest-ranking officers all died with him. Or have you not heard?

Odin: No it isn't. You two stand guilty of Consipiracy to kidnapping, attempting kidnapping of a child of the Aesir, tresspassing upon a world I protect, I can further add in charges of attempting to instigate a war between the Aesir and the Blades, and between the Aesir and the Olympians.

Given what you said during Gerd's departure, I have come to the conclusion that while your actions could very well have caused two wars which would have been very bloody it was not your intention and you acted as children without thinking about the consquences of you did. I should also add that Blade Nereli's actions on board Gladsheim Station helped me reach that conclusion. So I ask you Blade Gillian and you Orion why did you attempt to kidnapp Gerd. For curiosity sake I must ask what where your plans if you succeded...

You have just stepped from a space station to a world hundreds of lightyears away, into a the remains of a battlefield, and are about to embark upon a hunt. Yet not a single question. Not how did we get here, what happened here, what the prey is, or why we are hunting them. Why is that?

Orion: I... have nothing to say. I want... No. You were going to use the girl as a tool. I was used as a tool once, and my daughter after me, who did not survive it. She died - no, was murdered - to fulfill a prophecy. At the very least she is out of your hands now. Kidnapping? Hardly. I would have saved her. Whether she knew it or not.

*Gilian looks at Odin, then takes out her white contacts. Her Blade mask shrinks away fully revealing her face.*

Gilian: You know, it seems to me that since I first met you Aesir your words rarely bear complete truth in them. Everything you tell us is designed to manipulate. This has held true from my first meeting with an Aesir to this present conversation. Calling our actions those of children is really only another way of saying that our actions were not those which would most convenience you. It is also plainly untrue as I thought long and hard on the consequences of my actions today. I had to take the knowledge that you are only concerned with that which will benefit your people most - even to the detriment of the entire galaxy - into account. You asked trust, yet you gave us no reason to trust you. You are not gods, that we should give you unearned faith.

That said, I did succeed here. I stopped the Hunter from claiming another victim. If this is fate, I played my part. I broke your laws, but I have broken many laws and your laws are not more important to me than any others. You charge me with attempting to start a war. I say any war is preferable to the destruction of the universe. I do regret that I could not save Cyrus Duncan. As for Gerd... I would have not chosen her loss. But it was not my choice to make.

Odin: Anelya, you have had a very few dealings with us, only three. Of those the first time you encounted us, you lied refusing to acknowledge that you were a Blade, and then pretending to be ignorant of who the Blades were. I will grant you that the first two times you dealt with us were not under the best circumstances.

I called your action that of Children, because you acted without understanding what would happen or even full knowledge of the blood scrolls. You also based your actions on assumptions that are false. This is the first you have met me, yet you assumed I do not care for this galaxy. A galaxy which I and my people have protected for ages. Perhaps through Orion's retelling of our meeting you assumed that because I valued Gerd's life over millions of others I was only interested in my own people. However, did you ever wonder why I value her life so?

Orion says Gerd is just a tool to me. Her past and lack of knowledge of who I am clouds her perspective on the importance of Gerd. Orion, you were going to use Gerd even if you don't want to admit it, she was going to be your way to become a mother again. However, I say this with truth she would have killed you in order to return to us. We are her family and she is very much a daughter to me.

Now, please answer. Why did you decide to try and kidnap Gerd? Orion you wanted her dead, just as much as Sejhan does. Also what did you hope to accomplish? These are not unreasonable questions to ask given the circumstances.

*Gilian waits for Orion to speak*

Orion: That she was a daughter to you means nothing. Many parents destroy their children. I never wanted Gerd dead. I was only willing to sacrifice her if it was absolutely necessary. Don't presume to compare me to Sejhan. I hoped to save her and my home. I failed... to do both, at least. I believe you assisted in that failure.

You speak as if you actually cared about her, or any of us. But I know better than to be fooled by powerful, self-styled seers. You have many pretty words, but the things you say are still ugly.

Gilian: Odin, I take offense at that, and I must respond. I have a nearly perfect memory and I recall exactly what transpired during my first encounter with anyone related to the Aesir. I told no lie. Your operatives attacked me and threatened me with no more than verbal provocation. I took no offense at this, but it certainly gave me warning. As I was not acting as a Blade at the time, I informed your operative that my allegiances lay with myself. She then accused me of lying. She then threatened me again, though she failed to act on her promise to kill me if I did not answer - a lie in itself. I told her I would not answer. As I wanted to know what she knew of the Blades before proceeding, and with the knowledge that in many places those who are fooled into identifying themselves as covert Blades are killed on sight, I asked her what a Blade was. Rather than answering, she told me that my actions had sentenced Ida and Termand Rwos to death. Also a lie, as they are not dead, and if it had not been a lie I am surprised you would cause a war yourself over something so incredibly petty. All this, simply for peacefully offering my help. You can perhaps see why I do not trust the Aesir. Now it may be foolish to form an opinion based on only one encounter but I have been told a great deal indeed by those who have dealt with Aesir more times than me. All of this information has confirmed my opinion. Even Termand Rwos has told me that the Aesir tend to have an eerie consistency in their actions and methods. I did not see any reasonable way to deal with you, so I did not.

I believe that you do care about this galaxy. I do not believe you care about mine. I also do not believe that you have the full comprehension of the future that you seem to believe any more than I do.

Idona: We are on a world the galaxy proper doesn't know about, it is called Elysium and this is Blackwald Forest. Before I get to the prey, how dangerous would you say were the Sith you hunted?
--------------------------

Elysium: Blackwald, another part

Odin: Anelya, the attack on you took place after provoking the Valkyrie in charge of that mission. Even if just it was just verbal...the Valkyrie also did not lie, upon reporting in she did request a death sentence to be issued for Rwos and Ida. I am the only one that can approve such a sentence and after review of what happened I did not allow it. You wanted to know what she knew of the Blades, she wanted to know how you would react under a threat. As far as your lies, while you never said you were not a Blade or knew who they were, you did attempt to give that impression, at least that is how the Valkyrie viewed your actions. From my perspective that is lies of omission... It is unfortuneate that, that incident was your first encounter with us. As far what others have said, the only thing I will say in regards to that is that they do not know everything we do, nor the reasons behind our actions.

The main thing I care about is saving as many innocent lives when the final battle begins...Now will what did you intended to do with Gerd after you finished with Duncan? What did you think would be accomplished by having Orion take her?

Imperial Base

Man: Who? *a smile in his voice* I am Nobody. That is my name. I am the agent of the Empire. If anyone asks who confronted you, tell them Nobody did. And I will take the datacore.

----------

Elysium: Blackwald

Gilian: Firstly one who sees verbal provocation as grounds for physically deadly or damaging retaliation is not one whom I would trust as an ally, although it is one whom I would think to trust in the role of an enemy.

Secondly one who believes threats are the best way of responding to a potential ally or enemy is also not one whom I would trust as an ally, though it is one I would like as an enemy, for they will often have fewer allies.

Thirdly the Valkyrie lied by omission as well, as she did not tell me she would request the death sentence. She told me it was already done. Thus I do not see why you have a problem with my lies of omission.

Now if we are done with that, as for the circumstances being unfortunate, I do not agree. It is always good to see both the good and evil in any creature before making a judgement, if possible. A facade is always unfortunate, even when one is necessary.

As for Gerd? I intended to judge for myself what I ought to do with her. It would have been wrong to decide her fate one way or another without understanding her first. I intended to protect her life first, then to see whether she deserved that protection. I am perhaps better than most at discerning the evil in a being. What is unfortunate is that I never got the chance. Once the Shadows arrived the only viable choice was to allow Orion to take her. Perhaps you might say a better choice would have been to convince her to leave Gerd to you. But I had no way of knowing what your intentions are concerning the girl, for good or for evil, whether she was your daughter or your prisoner or both. I still do not know this, as I have only your word and the words of your underlings to confirm it. Were it within my power or knowledge to find Gerd, I would still need to make that judgement.

Are you satisfied?

*Deac chuckles*

Deac: You must really think I'm an idiot if I'm going to fall for that one, "Nobody". Unless your parents were really sick in giving you a name.

*Deac shifts toward and attack stance and turns his head to the two techs in the room, nervously looking at each other*

Deac: Keep your weapons on the datacore. *He turns back to "Nobody"* Your move. You can try to defend yourself, or the core. Either way, the Empire is not getting this information.

Nobody: I can likely get this information elsewhere. You cannot. Will you really destroy it? I doubt it. This information is already the property of the Empire, and I conversely will not let the Republic to obtain it.

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

Deac: I'm a soldier. I follow orders. My orders are to retrieve or destroy this datacore and that doesn't allow for Sith taking it for themselves. Which means we have a bit of a problem. You want it, I want it, and we can't share it, so I guess one of us has to die.

Odin: As I say it is a matter of points of view...for now I am satisfied. It is clear that Gillian, that regardless of how misguided you were, your actions were to protect Gerd, and in doing so you were trying to look out for her interests. Orion, I believe that while you came to this planet not to harm Gerd you certainly were not looking out for what is best for her. Instead you sought to use her to regain motherhood. Maybe you convinced yourself it was for Gerd's benefit, but your actions were more for your own.

Under normal circumstances under this planet's laws the crimes you two are guilty of carry a sentence of death. When I take into consideration your reasons, and our recent dicussion I am not goign to carry out that sentece and have you two executed. However, you two are still guilty of crimes...

What do you two believe your punishment should be?

Various high-tech mechinery operated by droids, arcs of electricity blot their way from various jacob's-ladders strung about in this 'labratory'.

Gilian: I believe that I owe no punishment. However if you are thinking of suggesting one yourself, understand this first: I fully plan to retrieve Gerd if I am able. If your punishment interferes with this, or with any other plans I have, I will not accept it. If it does not, then I will likely accept it assuming it does not require me to perform or assist in any act of evil. You will have to accept that or attempt to use force, which I warn you I am well capable of matching.

Orion: I will accept no punishment. You will just have to kill me.

Odin: If that is your choice Orion then I will put you to death, though given the circumstances I don't think it is warrented. Since Gillian you feel you have not indepted yourself to this planet by violating its laws and consquently have nothing to repay. I shall ask a friend of yours...

Blade Rwos, how do you feel these two should pay their debt? Saying that either one of them has no debt to pay is of no help. Their actions came at a price and now they must pay it, regardless of what they find agreeable or not.

Rwos: Gilian wants to save Gerd if she can. So do we all, even Orion. If I were in your place, I would consider that we all work together to retrieve her, and consider that payment of their debts. After all, Gerd seems to be the one most victimized here, regardless of what prompted the situation. It only seems right that we hurry and finish this and try to save her if it's still possible.

Gilian: I agree with that.

Riebe frowned thoughtfully. "Some were more of a challenge than others. 1500 years ago, we faced our greatest challenge. Her name was Tanith Vessa. She killed a Hunter and countless Jedi before she was killed. Then, somehow, she was brought back to life, killed many more Jedi and one more Hunter before we destroyed her with the aid of the Jedi who did it before."

She paused for a moment. "Over the years, the Sith weakened, but the Hunters grew arrogant. That is why we fell. I think those of us who are still alive have learned our lessons from that."
