Venator Removed?

Well... well... Nevets over at the PFF noticed that on the official EaW site that they removed the Venator class Star Destroyer from the list of ships. If they are trying to remove this ship from the game that is very upsetting but I really dont see a reason as to why they would. It's ridiculous any way you look at it.

Well, it matters little to me personally.
All I care about is the OT anyway.

Really? That's interesting. Perhaps they decided that it was a bit superfluous with the ISD and VSD already in. I wonder if the Acclamator is being changed to be more of a troop transport ship now. To me that makes the most sense. Also, removing the Venator is a solid choice if they're looking at potential prequel expansion packs. It's probobly best for balance sake anyway.

Huh. Maybe they just removed it from the list, but it'll still be in the game.

Or not. Probably not. A shame: no fair reason to remove it if it was already there, like popcorn said.

I'm happy about it personally, if it is truly out.

Jan, what does OT mean?

OT stands for original trilogy. I would rather have the Venator than the Acclaimator personally. I like its design better. Also though we cant take this as it really is removed, it seems odd because Delphi over at the PFF confirmed it a while back.

Probably because Petro can't figure out how to implant the timed produce fighter ability from a 6 squadron carrying ISD to the carrier Venator. Plus it will sort of kill the rebels fighter advantage if it's a empire ship.

Here is the topic where Delphi, an official at Petro confirmed Venators:

Weird....

It's a conspiracy!

Though it is redundant to have 3 Star Destroyers (Venator, VSD, ISD), I still see no reason to remove it. Couldn't they make it something like a light battleship or something, while the VSD a battleship/carrier hybrid? Just throwing some ideas around....

No the Venator was the carrier/battleship hybrid, the Victory was designed for ship to ship combat and planetary bombardment. They better have the Venator, the fools.

It's possible that in balancing the game, they felt that removing the Venator was overall better for game balance than having it in. I hope not, but still there is the possibility of the Venator not being able to fit into the game the way they had planned and then getting cut from the game.

I think that if we asked Petroglyph 6months ago whether the Timeline was the Original Trilogy they would have said Yes. LucasArts have probably changed the entire structure of the game from January to now.

Of course that could just be my own Thesis unsupported by any evidence apart from the fact that when Legacy e-mailed Petroglyph ages ago whether the SSD would be in they said yes. Then there was a "damage" limitation period on PFF with Delphi modding stuff.

Then Bigedmond said that Luke would be a force sensitive, Crackshot person= Now he is only an Upgrade to Red Squad at the end of the game.

Yeah i guess I'll live without the Venator if they did remove it but I would prefer it over the acclaimator. I mean we see the acclaimator in ep. II only right? So the Venator is a more recent capital ship than that, and they are including it. I know that they are different ships entirely but I prefer the Venator.

EDIT: Speaking of removing, under the elements section wasnt there more elements there? Now theres only 3 under coming soon.

Im starting to think it was a screw-up as well, because the X-Wing is also removed from the list as well, and we know that's in the game.

I would agree with you Fosh because, The removed the name from the list likly to put the video link on to the name. It will be hard to find a video of the ship I think.
But anyways, That is what I think.

Let's hope it was just a screwup. With the ship in, there is the potential of having a very good (ie: FUN! ) early game, before the VSD and ISD types come in. It might be kinda fun to start off with only acclimators and vens, and play with them for a bit while you research up to VSD and ISD.

...on the other hand, I'm detecting a little scent of Rebellion here. Game pushed back, units and features in question.... but lets hope we don't get a stinker like Rebellion (the FIRST, ONLY, and LAST game I ever did or will preorder).

lol I had to dig up my old account, had to post this soooo bad lol

I hope Fosh is right, the Venator is such a cool ship and it would be shame if it wasn't in. There are just so amny possibilities for the ship.
And Lew Rebellion wasn't a stinker it was the best game of its type at the time.

Empire at War is between the prequel trilogy and the old trilogy, so it stands to reason that they would include the “transition” ships between both universes? I hope so.

I still think that the Venator will be in the game. I really like that ship, and I hope that it is still in. If you go to the main site the x-wing movie is now up on the list. Just before the x-wing movie was posted it wasn’t on the list, but we all knew that the x-wing would be in the game, so the Venator will probably be next in a video.

Rebs version to what?!?

The Venator?

The Marauder Corvette isn't big enough to hold that many fighters as the Ventator can. It's barely 200 meters long. The Venator is alittle over 1100.

If that was indeed what you were getting at.

I hope its a screw up and that it's not removed because of balancing, release, or expansion reasons. Venators wouldn't remove the rebels advantage because remember, it's less powerful(why in a fleet you need small and big isd's to win), and easily destoryed.

I think that the Venator might at least be one of the ships you start out with, and then maybe you research other classes of ships that make it obsolete eventually?

Star Destroyer Tech goes:
Victory
Venator
Imperator
(renamed) Imperial shotly after the transition
Not including misc. star destroyers or improved star destroyer ex: Victory II

So as you can see if there going to include the Vic not to mention the acclamator(I know its not a star destroyer just so no one asks) then they would have to include the Venator

actually im pretty sure that the venator comes before the victory. just compare the way the 2 ships look and its obvious that the victory looks more like the imperator, and the venator would probably be the predecessor of the 2.

Well, the Corellian Corvette had a much broader customer base compared to the Venator which was a contracted deal for the Republic Starfleet only.

I looked on starwars.com and they dont say exactly but they say that the vic was disgned by Blissex (dont know first name) and after he died (mid clonewar) his daughter Designes the Ven then marries Denn Wessex and designes the imperial Class.

edit:Yes logain the vic is a battle criuser and the Ven is a carrier criuser
