Does Anakin Know about the Prophecy?

I thought about this a few days ago. Does Anakin skywalker know about the prophecy, or did the Jedi not tell him in case he became to arragont over it. Thanks to anyone who replies.

After watching TPM again, I have come to the conclusion he did know about the prophecy. Heh, I had not watched it in a while.

Think its mentioned in the books and comics that he knows he's ment to be the chosen one.

While on the topic of the chosen one, I often wonder why Mace didn't let Anakin come with him to kill Sidious when Mace knows Anakin must be the one to destroy the Sith. I know it's because of the storyline though, it just bothers me...

Because he could sense that Anakin was torn on the issue, Palpy was Anakins friend after all. Mace made the right decision, it was too bad that Anakin just couldn't keep himself away though.

He knows he is the chosen one, Qui-Gon even says it infront of Anakin, infront of the Jedi Council when they say Anakin will not be trained. "He is the chosen one, you must see it." Or something to that effect. Whether or not Anakin understands what the prophecy means, is another question entirely. It is quite possible that Palpatine was filling Anakin with a warped view of what the prophecy meant.

Mace didn't trust Anakin enough for him to come along, I think he didn't like the friendship he had with the Chancellor - and by this point it seems the Jedi already have a suspicion that Palpatine may have been a Sith, just nothing to confirm it until Anakin informed Mace. Mace was probably concerned that Anakin would become confused and confound things when confronting the chancellor, which, ultimately happened, and the results were disasterous.

If you're referring to that part on Mustafar......from what prevoius people says, he knows that before that.

It seemed that Mace didn't believe in the prophecy as much as others might have. During the discussion between himself, Yoda, and Kenobi, Obi-Wan asks if Anakin is indeed the one to destroy the Sith. With a bit of disdain, Mace says, "so the prophecy says." And nods in agreement when Yoda points out that the prophecy may have been misread.

Mace trusted his judgement and intuition over some ancient prophecy.

Well, he did fulfill the prophecy, he did kill the Emperor in ROTJ... hardly bringing "balance" though. Once he killed him he had saved himself, thus ending anything that remained of the dark side, but I don't get the balance part of it. Maybe it was just that the dark side was way too strong compared to the light side.

I know it's a little off-topic (somewhat) but I just thought it was interesting to note.
