Sam and Max Are Returning In A New Fangame Series
MID-MORNING PRODUCTIONS ANNOUNCES FREE DOWNLOADABLE SAM AND MAX ADVENTURE GAMES
www.flintlocked.com
The independent games developer Mid-Morning Productions announced today the development of three new adventure games based off of the beloved characters of Steve Purcell’s comic series, Sam and Max. The games will have separate release dates and will be available independently, but they will all be part of a single story arc, entitled Sam & Max: Flintlocked. After each game’s release, the new game will be available for download from www.flintlocked.com and/or other available mirrors, to run on most computers running a Windows-based operating system.
Although the games are "fan games" and Mid-Morning Productions does not own the legal rights for a video game based upon the characters, the games have been given the go-ahead by series creator Steve Purcell, and the developers are dedicated towards creating a hilarious pseudo-sequel to the cult 1993 PC hit, "Sam & Max Hit the Road," developed by Lucasarts. The new games are being developed on the highly flexible SLUDGE adventure game development software, developed by Hungry Software.
The demo of the first game should be released some time in 2006, with a closed beta beforehand to test system requirements and general flow of game play. Any further news on the games’ developments will be posted on www.flintlocked.com. Any questions or comments should be directed to the forums located at www.flintlocked.com/forum/. Registering at the site is not required for posting on the forums.
About Mid-Morning Productions
Appearing in its earliest form on the fan site www.samandmax.net’s forums (forums hosted by www.lucasforums.com) in March 2004, the original proposition of the creation of a Sam and Max fan game was received with many offering their services. However, as time went on and hard work began on the project, many team members dropped away, leaving only a skeleton crew of dedicated members to guide the project. These members have been working on the game for over a year and a half now, and it has become a true labor of love.

It's very cool. Three cheers for Woxel1 and the rest of Penguinbros.com for providing webhosting for the site.
And we're still looking for talented artists to help with the production of the games.
Now watch me become morbidly obese!

Oh shut up. This game doesn't deserve a press release. Especially one that's supposed to get us clamoring for a... demo?
Fanatics are just that though, I guess.

Still the same old Gerbil.
Technically, this is the official announcement of the project. Most announcements come without any media at all, and definitely no demos, so don't get all "OMG THERS NO DEMOS THEY DUNT HAV ANYTHN LOL" on us, please.

I don't know man, can you at least leave out the dialogue?
There's nothing worse than having someone unsucessfully ape what Steve Purcell would have Sam and Max say. Trust me, I've got my own embarassing moments with that also somewhere on the internet.
Or even see the cartoon for reference. Saturday morning toon scriptwriters have got nothing.

Wait wait wait... let me get this straight... you want us to make a Sam and Max fangame... but Sam and Max don't talk. Hmm... it could work. While we're at it, lets replace Sam and Max altogether with these two characters I just made up: Franklin and Brick. Franklin is a motorcycle accident victim and is in fact dead. He solves puzzles by lying on the floor until they get bored and solve themselves. Brick is a brick and is therefore immobile, but a useful weapon for hoodlums, and is always under the risk of being stolen, so you have to play escort missions where you keep thugs away from Brick by firing Franklin's alien laser beams. And finally, let's set the game underwater. With fish. Zombie fish.
Gerbil, seriously. We can't have a Sam and Max game without dialogue. You can't even have a graphic adventure (SCUMM style, not Myst style) without dialogue!
Now watch me become morbidly obese!

I might check the game out, but I think my excitement over the official Telltale version kinda overshadows any hype over a fan-game.

That really wasn't too shabby SMNMX... see, you are already on the right track.
And U.F.O.s didn't have dialogue from either of the main characters, if any of you have played that game.

Oh, that one. Well, yeah, it has no voices, but that was because it was a simple concept gag as opposed to a full fledged adventure game.

Are you sure The Pope wouldn't just call the fan game a homosexual and condemn it to Hell, in effect kicking the beehive that is the liberal media?

So in other words, The Pope threw a hissy fit, locked himself in his room, started blasting Good Charlotte really loudly, and made a whiny post on myspace?
Poor Pope and his raging hormones.

Man, you don't know what all The Pope is going through right now. He's not doing so well at school, his parents are always riding his case, the girl he likes hates his poetry, and he just feels unloved.
Sounds like someone needs a mentor!

Someone should really pick him up and mold him in their demonic image, it's the only good way to end this.

MmMm
Please just don't **** sam and max up, the game has nothing but good remarks about it if someone makes another game and it totally blows then the new age who dont know much about it will just think its some lame game in other words you would KILL Sam and Max. is it going to have the original voices? if not don't have any. is it going to be a different story line but same graphics? or is it going to look like that weird ugly drawing here - http://www.flintlocked.com/media/game/office.jpg ? good luck anyway but if you kill sam and max i'mma coming after you.

Some people here have liked Sam and Max while you were still in Freud's anal stage of development.
But I guess it is beyond reasonable doubt that people should consult with you first before executing any idea.
