Well, ATAT is supposed to be able to carry squadrons of bikes and such, making it a good mobile command/relay center of sorts in addition to being a transport and assault tank.

I'd always thought the AT-AT was more for protection for the guys it's carrying, not speedy transport. Hide inside it to stay safe from enemy snipers or turrets as it advances on the enemies position and storm out when the time is right.

Of course you'd have to be ready to bail out in case those pesky speeders manage to trip your ride up.

The only purpose I can really see for the design of the AT-AT is to be big and scary, not practical.

Wait, carrying bikes? Think about this sensibly. A bike that can do 200 plus is better driven, than being protected by a 1 MPH vehicle. Empire at War actually makes the AT-AT practical in function.

Paranoid, good point about the protection, but meh, that's what APCs are for. But again, Petroglyph do it in a very good way. I reccomend you visit the official site and watching the AT-AT movie.

Also, if Battlefront 3 ever wanted to loose the "cartoon" feel, then it also shows a realistic way troops get into the vehicle, rather than "popping" in and out. Halo 1/2 was masterfull with entrance animations.

well does any1 really want to have the atat consatnly stopping, kneeling, the doors opening and all that other stuff
becuase it ould happen quite a bit since the ai is stupid
basicly it wuld be annoying for evey enclosed vehicle

well, I think troops alsoo enter/leave via a cable ladder/elevator, and not only by kneeling.

Thats what I would think... Why bother kneeling? Just lower cabels like in EaW somthing like that would fit perfectly.

Kneeling? Thats ridiculous it would take way too long, lowering cables makes the most sense.

Lol....kneeling wouldn't work. The enemy could take advantages of you if AT-AT was forced to kneel to release its troops. That would be pointless.

Exactly, heck, ever wondered why the imps have a grappling hook in the first place? Easy. You want to enter the AT-AT, press the use button, he auto grapples and pulls himself in. You want out, he opens the door and absails out. You'd be vulnerable while in transit, but we're talking less than 5 seconds.

It'd be even cooler with hover vehicles because they could just jump in while the door pops open. I really dunno how it works with droids though, but even with Starships it'd be neat to be able to "pop the hatch".

Actually I'd love to see someone try to rush an "empty" AT-TE onlyfor the door to slide open and a full squad to come rushing out of it!

where like some people can ride in it and gain health and ammo

Oh, they should make Battlefront's vehicle "standable" on top.

It is weird when you stand on an ATAT, and when it moves, you get slipped in one place rather than moving along with it.

You certainly can. lol with Count Dooku on Geonosis. lol. I just have to jump onto the top of an AT-TE and kill the enemies in the gunner position.

Well, you can stand on them, but note that when the vehicle move you are not moved along with them, unless it has a hatch or something holding you in place.

Try standing on the back of an ATAT, when it moves, you slowly slide backwards...

Ya, I know that Dooku doesn't move win the vehicle moves. Umm...when Luke jumps onto the AT-AT, he doesn't move....maybe b/c Luke is on the neck of the AT-AT.

I have stood on the back of an AT-AT whenever i'm Pilot Luke and I have never slowly moved off, I am fixed in position like on the ground. Do you have it on the PS2?

In a head-to-head battle, I have to think the AT-AT would win. Although I would be interested in seeing what happens on a map where the AT-TE spawns behind the AT-AT where the thing has to do a full 180 to start shooting.

In any situation where the two aren't having to go head to head, I'll take the AT-TE anyday. With competent gunners it's hard as heck to sneak up on it from any angle.

Well, technically it is easier for a Jedi to slice the tummy of a AT-TE

AT-ATs win in a head-to-head combat, AT-TE wins otherwise because of mobility.

kk, maybe going back a bit, but anyone actually tried riding a snowspeeder? go as rebels, put a snowspeeder outside the hanger pointing in the general direction of the AT-AT's (for maximum effect) land it, get out, jump on top and wait for an ally to get in (this may take a while).when he/she takes off, you wil be catapulted forward. The distance changes, as sometimes you can land by the AT-ATs, or sometimes you only go about 10 meters forward.

of course, to keep on topic, AT-AT's win.
