Help reading dialogue trees

I've downloaded both the DLGEditor and KotorTool to try to do this, but I'm not programmer, heck I'm not even a scripter, and they've both stymied me. I don't want to edit anything or change anything, I just want to be able to read conversation trees as they'd play out, be able to see both the NPC dialogue and the responses. How do I do this?

Just follow the tree branches.

When there is more than one possibility for an NPC to speak (multiple Entry choices), there will be a conditional script attached that must evaluate to TRUE for that branch to be chosen. (Branches are evaluated in the order they appear.)

When there is more than one possibility for a PC to speak (multiple Reply choices), the player may choose. There may be conditional scripts on these also which determine whether or not the dialog option is available.

If you are trying to read KotOR1 dialogs, you could download the very ancient and dusty DLGEdit text-based application. It has a "Test Drive" mode.

Sable Pheonix, please post threads in their correct places, here and here are good places to start to help you see what forum is for what topic.

The Mod Request forum is for mod requests only, general modding questions go in Holowan Labs. Thanks.

Yeah, well that's all fine, except the last time I posted something like this, it was in Holowan Labs and was moved into the Requests.

You'll forgive my subsequent confusion, I'm sure.

Those links, by the way, just go back to the forum page, which only adds to it.

tk102, thanks for the suggestion. I'll look for that program. A test drive mode is just what I'd be looking for. I wonder why other tools like KotORTool don't have such a thing.

I'm sorry but these threads you posted today have nothing to do with that other thread. Here is that thread and it is clearly not like these 2 you made here... that one is about locating a potential mod. The point is the purpose/topic of the threads are different.

Holowan Labs is for most general modding questions, Mod Requests is for the requesting and or asking for the location of mods, the Mod Tools forum is about the use and issues with the various Mod tools, and the Mod Release forum is for giving feedback/suggestions about the released mods posted there.

About those links please read the little white text description under each forum listing... that is what each forum is about, their purpose so to speak.

You'll get the hang of it!
