Oh, yeah, Jae's doing the happy dance--Bears just rolled right over the Seahawks.
37-6 is quite a statement to last year's champ....
Only undefeated team in the NFC right now--woohoo!
D allowed no touchdowns again and got 2 interceptions and a few sacks, including some in key spots/times. O got the running game going, protected Grossman, and the receivers and he connected pretty well.

How did I know one of these posts was coming Did you go to the game? Not to downplay the Bears, because they played great on O and D, but the S'hawks played like crap, they don't look like the same team from a year ago and my friend is going to be very grumpy tomorrow...

That will never happen. The teams lead by Earl Campbell will never be duplicated. They made one day match the records of the Oilers of the early 90’s lead by Warren Moon. The same team that broke my heart every year (anyone remember the Buffalo overtime game). There may be great teams in the Texans future (way distance future) but I will never feel anywhere near the emotions I have/had for the Bum Phillips and Earl Campbell lead Oilers of the Luv you Blue days. They never won anything (thanks to the Steelers, who IMO had one of the greatest teams in NFL history), but they capture the heart of the community as seen by 70,000 fans showing up at the Astrodome after their 27-13 loss (including a 15 year old me). The Oilers were the laughing stock of the NFL till Bud Adams talked Tampa Bay into trade their Number #1 pick to them. They became the laughing stock again, but for a few years the Oilers were arguable the second best team in the NFL.

The Texans won! Mario Williams had 1 1/2 sacks!! Oh, it was against Miami and Miami beat Tennessee, that means the Texans aren’t the worst team in the NFL.

Chicago is starting to look like the best team in the NFL. What happen to Jacksonville? The looked great against the Steelers a couple weeks ago, but now have two losses in a row. I will forgive the Colt loss, but a loss to the Redskins?

If the Broncos could figure out their offense (read: Jake Plummer) I think they would be among the elite in the NFL. With as solid a defense and running game as we have, if Jake could be consistant we'd be a team to truly fear.

Jake continually shows moments of greatness, followed up by sequences of sheer idiocy. I think he will figure it out as the season progresses, and by the end of the season nobody will want to play the Broncos.

Story of his career. I think he might just need time. Testeverde didn't become a great quarterback until his mid 30s.

My Skins finally are showing some offensive skill. Though I didn't agree with it at the time the Champ Bailey trade really helped us. I think both Denver and Washington have no complaints from that trade.

I can't wait till the cowboys play them in week six XD

but the cowboys offense finally looked like it clicked on all cylinders this week.

they are gonna need the same next week if they want to beat the eagles.

but last year the eagle had issues with glen's speed we shall see how much of a factor he plays.

but total lack of defense at the same time.

grated they won but they could have just as easily lost due to there inablity to stop the jags offense.

I'm going to subscribe to your Broncos newsletter ... I'm really looking forward to next week, the Ravens D is going to be a huge test for the Broncos O, hopefully the Broncos will be on the winning end.

same can be said about the cowboys.

only they need consistancy on Offense pretty much like the last 2 games.

and to keep TO healthy as he has proved injury prone so far this year.

but with Glen health, TO health and Jones health. all they need to do it protect bledsoe and they'd be set.

than and the cowboys running game is finally starting to click which is great for protecting drew.

Q.F.E I see that they aren't letting up.

Well, the Bengals, that's a different story. Losing to the Patriots.

And to Haynesworth I think he should've gotton suspended for the full season. Adn not like it matters, if he did. The Titans aren't doing much better.

well he may get crimal and civil charges brought against him.

but 5 game 190,000 is nothing to him

anything more than 5 games is up to Jeff fisher though.

I can see that Jae is as happy as I am.
The Bears are actually looking like a contender. Granted, Alexander didn't play, but he really hasn't done anything special this season anyway. He's yet to get a 100 yard game this season I believe.

It was good to watch the Bears actually run the ball like they protest to want to do so much. Grossman had another good outing as well, making good decisions and executing the offense very well. Some of his throws were quite awesome.

Bernard Berrian is emerging from the shadows of receiving mediocrity into the spotlight of the proverbial deep threat. He's the second fastest man on the Bears, and it shows. His hands are OK too.

What can I really say about this defense?

They are an awesome unit. There's absolutely no running up the middle on them. They have a pass rush with the four upfront, linebackers are omnipresent, ballhawking d-backs and hard hitting safeties make receivers think twice before extending themselves over the middle.
They are intimidating.

Special teams punt coverage and such has been good, but the rookie punt returner needs to try not to do too much lest he find his way to the bench.
Those fumbles could have been costly in a tighter game.

The playcalling was timed well and I think Mr. Holmgren was a bit out-coached on Sunday.

Lovie won that chessmatch.
Of course, it's not a fair match when one player has 3 queens and 6 rooks.

The Bears hold their own destiny in their big, furry paws. They have the so-called easiest remaining schedule and with a 4-0 start with 3 division wins, if they can stay healthy, then they have a shot at controlling their fate.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, so I'll just stay focused on Buffalo, the next victim of a Bear mauling.

Heh, you care, or you wouldn't be posting in this thread.

Yeah, the Bears have to stay healthy or all bets are off.

Did you guys see Urlacher pulling one of the Seahawks down with just one arm? I saw on a replay he got his arm around the guy's thigh and just yanked him to the ground. Talk about strong. He got 7 tackles this game. That's a Bear for you....

I just hope they can keep the flow goin' and continue to stay humble and improve. They do have a ways to go yet, but it's so nice to finally watch BEAR football again isn't it.

I think that if the Bears go '72 Dolphins this year, it is proof that Jae sold her soul to the devil , anyway, anybody else enjoy watching Denver's D stick it to the Ravens?

No, got down on my knees and prayed, son, prayed.

That was one sweet Bears game. Gould set a new team record for consecutive field goals to start the season in that game. It was previously held by Kevin Butler, who was on the '85 Bears team. A fine omen, I think.

And Benson got his first TD, too.

If they stay healthy, they _could_ go all the way, but it's almost impossible to do that with the way all these guys play. Every team's going to lose people to injuries, but it's good to know we have some decent depth if we do lose people.

Still, it's a lot of fun to see the defense just mow through every other team's offense, and watch Grossman march the offense down the field with some great throws.

Most points scored: Da Bears.

Fewest points allowed: Da Bears.

Absolutely. It was also nice to see that the broncos offense managed to wear down the Ravens enough to finally start putting points on the board at the end of the game.

It's starting to look like it's just the Broncos season plan to lose the first game of the season to a team we should beat, and then make up for it as the season progresses.

I'm hoping our plan gets extended to include winning superbowls.

@ET Warrior It looked as if the Broncos had the better defense in that game.
Lewis is good but, he can't play alone.

Jake's not a bad QB, he just has the unfortunate weight of playing after a legend. The same thing will happen in Green Bay when the almighty Favre finally departs. I feel sorry for the next guy in his shoes.

As for the BEARS, It's like watching my Madden games, except Cygnus is much better looking than Grossman.

If they stay healthy, humble, and productive, I really don't see too many teams beating them this year. The hardest games I can see on the schedule so far will be the Giants and the Patriots.

I just hope they take no one lightly.
You know the saying, "Any given Sunday, any team can beat any other team regardless of statistics or momentum."

Wow...Bears vs Cardinals....that was an amazing comeback. 24-23 Bears. Nearly everyone in the dorm was jumping and screaming at that win.

Tonights game, does nothing but prove that Chicago has sold it's soul to the devil, you don't just come back and win from a 20 point deficit when your offense scores nothing, I don't care how good your defense is, it just never happens. Grossman looked like a "freah meat" rookie in this game and Leinart looked like a seasoned veteran, he brought his kicker well within filed goal range and the dude just biffed it. It's absolutely incredible, a combination of stupid players and stupid decisions are what cause the Cards to lose. First of all "Edge", why are you holding the ball with one hand while you're in a group of defenders desparately trying to make something happen? Secondly, who's the idiot who decided to punt to a guy who has the potential to take it to the house, when you know the opposing quaterback is playing like crap?

If this game did anything for me, it proved me wrong in the fact that I thought Leinart wouldn't be able to cut it, he has showed that he can lead his team when they need him, it was pretty impressive in my opinion. But it is making me think I was right in thinking that Grossman is horribly inconsistant, however I'll hold judgement on that until I see how he rebounds in his next game. Even though this game seemingly is an omen for the Bears to go 16-0 with the miracle comeback, I think it's more foreboding doom, in the sense that it has shown a weakness. Just my 2 cents.

I'll take the win for sure , but the Bears didn't deserve it, to be honest.
How the heck to you allow 20 points unanswered points in the first half with a D like the Bears have?
How do you turn over the ball 6 times? How do you play so bad that the defense is forced to be on the field twice as long, and they score those 24 points that the O should be scoring? Without Hester's return for a TD and AZ's missed FG, there was no way to win. And I don't know what they put in Urlacher's gatorade in the 4th quarter, but they need to give it to everyone so they can all play with that kind of intensity.

Ugly, ugly win.

Chicago had no business winning that game. I was still rooting for them, though.

Also, I think it was the Bengals games, when they got called for roughing the QB, Like WTF?!

I sat there dumbfounded last night watching the Chicago defense beat not only the Arizona Cardinal’s but their own offense. The most impressive thing to me was the Bear’s defense and how they flipped a switch in the second half and took total control of the game. Forget Manning or McNabb for MVP how about Brian Urlacher. I still don’t think the Bears have a chance of going undefeated, but as long as Urlacher remains healthy they have a shot. Every time the Bear offence got the ball in the forth quarter I was shouting at the TV, calling for them to punt the ball back on even on 1st down. I figured it was the only way they could score was to get their defense back on the field.

How about my Broncos eh? 37 points allowed in 5 games?
Beating Oaklan 13-3 may not be that impressive, but the Broncos didn't even TRY to generate any offense after they already had the lead. Shanahan's confidence in our defense was obvious. (Also, his confidence in Oaklands offense sucking).

Our offense has the potential to produce respectable points, and our defense is elite.

FEAR.

I was pissed when the Bengals lost that game... Giving the Bucs their first win, they should be ashamed.

All I could say last night when I saw Devin Hestor returning that punt was, "Oh my God!" I have no idea how my Bears did it, but they got a win for the ages.

We were watching Lance Briggs on "The Best D@mn Sports Show" and he hadn't seen the Arizona coach's rant after the game. He watched the whole thing carefully, and the sportscaster said "Lance, what do you say to that?"
Lance thought a moment, and then simply said with a bit of a shrug of his shoulders, "Bears win."
The audience howled laughing and clapping. I nearly choked on my coffee chortling.

@Jae, That may have been an ugly win, but from the press conference and early part of the game it sounded as though the card's staff had scouted them perfectly, so I wouldn't say that they entirely didn't deserve it, they just outplayed them on defense.

FYI, I'm officially adding Da Bears to Indianapolis on my "yeah, I like to watch them too" list. I usually couldn't care less about them win or lose, but they're reminding me too much of a certain National Championship team from a few years ago...
Who might that be, Jae?

I'm a little tardy responding because I just was released from the hospital after the massive coronary I suffered Monday night watching the Bears make history once again.

No team has ever (since the conception of the NFL in 1920) come back from a 20 point deficit without scoring an offensive TD. Didn't Vash break a record last season? Da BEARS! !

The Arizona Cardinals played one helluva game for three and a half quarters. In the NFL, you have to play all four. Grossman looked scared and pitiful all game long and the O-line never showed up. I'm a bit concerned as to why our coordinators wait so long to adjust to what's happening. This goes for Rivera(defense) and Turner(offense).

Sun T'su: "The able commander is he who can adapt to the changing situations the quickest thus outwitting his enemy by speed."
Obviously, our coordinators don't study this.

It's a good thing Brian Urlacher took this game personally. I'm just very dissappointed in the loss of my favorite Bear. Mike Brown.

As the vocal and emotional leader of the defense, he will be sorely missed. I hope the rookie hopeful and the off-season acquisitions can pick up the huge amount of slack caused by such a loss.

But, all that aside,

GO BEARS 6-0

Geez, you scared the crap out of me--I thought you really had a coronary until I read the rest of the sentence.

Yeah, Brown had to have surgery, and he's on injured reserve for the rest of the season. The pundits think he's going to be released unless he takes a pay cut because the Bears will want to cut salary and he's making an awful lot for someone who's spent a lot of time on the sidelines with injuries.

@RJM. It hurts me to hear you say that when you have no idea how many nights I spent sitting up weeping for you and your head. I still can barely keep a meal down.
I have ordered you an Ahtonaut hard hat with "RJM" stenciled on the front and an ACME earthquake early warning system. You know, just in case.

@Jae. Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you, but when defensive rookie of the year hopeful Mark Anderson clobbered Lineart and Mike Brown ran that fumble recovery in for his seventh TD of his career (most by any Bear defensive player ever), I leaped out of my seat, not realizing that I had a plate of food on my lap and a beverage in my hand until it was too late.
I actually missed the extra point because I had to turn the TV off to dry it.

Mike's situation is a delicate one. He's signed until 2008, but knowing him he may take a bit of a cut because he wants to stay in Chicago.
Especially if, dare I say it, they win it all.
He knows this is a special team and he wants to stay apart of it. We will see how the off-season theatrics and business deals affect this situation, but for now, GO BEARS!

I really do thank you for your genuine concern. I tried to award you LS points, but it seems you're maxed out. Would you take a lightsaber crystal instead?

Hehe, I think I've earned a few DS points teasing Emperor Devon in the self-defense thread. But a lightsaber crystal will certainly be welcome, especially if it's Bear Orange and Blue.
Jimbo and I have decided the orange jerseys, gawdawfully ugly as they are, are apparently good luck against SF. The Bears certainly bounced back this week from their whatever it was they wanted to call it 2 weeks ago. Can't argue with 41 points in the first half. Whew!!
Jimbo's trifecta--Cardinals win the World Series, Buckeyes beat Michigan and win the National Championship, and Bears win the Superbowl. He's 33% of the way there.

Bears are 7 and 0!!
