Greetings from the land of KOLTO

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I've been MIA for quite sometime (well I knew where I was at least) but I first started a new job which ate up my life and then I developed Diabetes (t1) of all things quite quickly and of course unexpectedly in August/September.

Now I'm doing better and getting restless so I started playing my Kotor games again and becoming obsessed...as you do.

I may even try and revive my fan fiction as I have all of my original ideas, notes, drafts etc clogging up my PC at home. We'll see how ambitious I'm feeling as I think the first couple of chapters need re-writing.

Anyway, I'm halfway through Peragus and couldn't let the days go by without stopping past one of my favourite message boards.

We're having an attack of NWN2 right now, but Jimbo and I play Kotor on the laptop if the other of us has the desktop with NWN2.

:::waves:::Hiya people

Jae: that's cool, I am so lazy though I never play my PC version of K1, I still don't even have K2 on it. You think I would though with all the great mods, but eh, you can't beat lying on the couch with a control and a huge screen tv with surround sound (man its heaven, I may have to come home early LOL)

How is NWN everyone online is saying its close to the Kotor experience, I am so desperate for similar games...Jade Empire is ok but doesn't thrill me as much for some reason.

NWN 2 is very good however it is somewhat buggy. I highly suggest you manually update to 1.03.

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view...r.Detail&id=19

You want the 103840 version.

Quote:
NWN 2 Patching

How to trick the "Updater" program into realizing you have the Patch

You need 6-7Gb of freespace

The answer is simple.
Temporarily-disconnect your PC from the Internet.
For example, if you have a Modem, unplug the modem-jack from the telephone.
(Now the stupid-idiot "Updater" program CAN'T make a beeline straight for the internet, and start downloading ANOTHER Patch).

Next, put your downloaded Patch in
C: \Program Files \ Atari \Neverwinter Nights 2 folder.
(Since this Neverwinter folder has tons of folders in it, scroll to bottom where there's room, put your Patch there).
IMPORTANT : Do not---repeat--- do not "unzip" the Patch.

Your done here so close everything, go back to Windows desktop, hit NWN2 icon. and launch "Update" program.
The "Updater" begins grinding away....
Then a second later, it flashes frantic message---"Cant find internet connection !!"....
Then a second later, it says "Patch found ...now installing patch" ... etc.
When its all done, it flashes "Success!!".
Your game is now patched.

To make it patch the game quicker. Defrag your hard drive before and after words.

The latest patch for NWN2 is now the 1.04 patch. I finally finished my first game, and am starting my 2nd game. Hopefully it won't take me 3 months to finish this time.
You gotta put K1 and TSL on the computer so you can get the Carth Romance fix and the TSL Carth 'Eye-searing' armor fix, the Holowan plug-ins, heck, a whole bunch of great mods there.

Yeah, I've got K1 with tons of mods but only played it once, if I had a bigger screen and a remote keyboard so I could lie on the bed it might be more fun When I had a laptop it much easier to lounge...although I'm thinking of getting one this year.

I'm thinking of checking out NWN since it doesn't look like K3 will be released in my life time.

While 1.04 is the latest patch it also breaks more than it fixes. Which is why Obsidian has had to release a hot fix. Until the 1.04 patch is stable or they release the 1.05 patch I refuse to use the 1.04 patch.

Cheers!

Topsite, cool but in retrospect I think my writing still needs brushing up although I still like the idea perhaps if I can get part 5 out it will have improved with age...I've aged but I'm not sure if I've improved

It's always good to see someone who hasn't been here in a while return. Welcome back!

It's good to see a familiar face (avatar).

Hope you're feeling better. I have quite a few people in my family who have diabetes. Needless to say, I'm waiting for it to show up in me sooner or later. With that desease, it's all about body chemistry.

I sense you'll be fine and happy for a long time.

Glad you're back, now, get to writing.

LOL Thanks Cyngus Q'ol.

T2 seems to be very common these days with obesity and bad diet on the rise. I developed T1 which is the one that normally children develope but I had pancreatitus in 2000 and that is what has probably done my pancreas in after all these years so I stopped producing insulin.

Its a pain the ascii to inject insulin, although not as bad as the old days with a syringe.

I've gotten it pretty much under control and means I finally have time in my life again for the things I enjoy.
