Maps - custom one's, that is

I was just wondering, as I am a mapper, do you guys have any custom, OJP only, Maps?

I think, as a little bonus, OJP should have some custom duel maps.

For example, I love playing SJC's mustafar, me as Anakin and my Brother as Obi-wan. But, I know a lot of people, when the first get the mod, wanna play something other than JKA.

Yes, OJP is a lot different then Base JKA, but if we had custom maps it would give players a chance to feel like there playing sonmething other than Base JKa maps.

If you guys think that the idea is... well... lame, tell me.

If you think that it is a good idea, tell me. Maybe you could expand upon it some more.

I very much like the two bases ideas people have because me and the guys usually play either FFA, CTF or TFFA (usually TFFA). Most of the time I prefer the bit slower pace and non-super smash brothers chaos that comes with Team FFA. Plus it's more fun to grip whore someone :d

If you were to make a map I would imagine it much like:
-Naboo-like hills
-Two big bases
-Cannons, turrets and shields on the bases
-Flags in the bases
-Armories

And whatever. We usually play a map called Jedi's Home JL II and it has almost all of those things, not to mention it being HUEG.

Sounds like Naboo Hills 2.1 to me. That's a fun map designed for vehicle combat. Tie Fighters, X-Wings, N2s, Hailfire Droids, Republic Gunships, etc. It has tons of open space, two bases with turrets, items, weapons and flags in each, along with little mini-outposts wiht weapons and items dotted throughout the map.

Oh and if you think JHJL II is huge, wait 'till you see this map.

Hehe thanks Orj, looks like a great map. I'll get it on my server ASAP.

It's a fun map. The graphics aren't as good as they could be, but it's about gameplay more than looks. The only gripe I have with this map is its lack of botroutes.

On the sidenote, really sorry guys, I haven't been getting to work on the custom co-op maps that I promised like months ago. I had actually intended to work on it after the main menu, but I'm beaten tired during my book out from camp. I'll try to get to work on it sometime during my 2-weeks block leave. In the meantime, hope some more mappers do help out with co-op maps

Just a question, how do you edit the SP maps?

Decompile them, and fix the textures/entites?

You could do that, but would require people to download your recompiled SP map.

Anyway, since players already have to download OJP Enhanced to play the game, I wouldn't have a problem with adding in some special maps and player models to sweeten the pot.

However, we would have to get permission from all the original authors. Does someone want to be in charge of getting the permissions and gathering the acceptable models/maps?

I got us permission for loads of things including Omeewan's models and Livingdeadjedi's maps, as long as we credit them.

I'm going to need a refresher on what those are.

Plus, if we do want to do this, do we want a common theme or should we just go for "Star Wars, Cool Stuff"?

I have gotten permission from SSSID to use his Tantive, once. That was about, a month ago. I could try and contact him again, if you would like.

@Ace:
It was actually my dad that was annoyed and confused why I was shooting a clone rifle with my dooku skin and then switching to the lightsaber when we were playing 2 nights ago. He was used to me playing MovieBattles

Sometimes I kind of agree... I mean we're so looking for realism and fun (which we've accomplished well) but then we stab ourselves in the gut by allowing a full fledged skin/class-o-rama.

This is however something that we should debate elsewhere, in a new thread. This thread is about maps.

Yeah sometimes, not lately anymore though because of personal reasons but I did back when I still played MB. I went to the bathroom or took a break and he played for me for a while

Anyway some maps you guys should download:
-Fearis incident
-Jedi's home II
-Naboo Hills v2.1

These are currently the most popular on my server and if you want to join you'll need them. All are available at www.jk3files.com

Cept' for the 1'st one. I may think about joining you're server, as MakerMod is getting boring.
