I've looked up the pick of the bunch from Cox & Forkum, and feel that I should say that even though great care was taken in the selection process there will be those who will be offended by them.

And I couldn't post in such a thread without this treasure from Flame Warriors.

Good intentions, a terrible war, and a man who stayed too long.

Both by David Simonds for the New Statesman.

Oh and:

Not sure who this is by, though.

That first one was pretty funny, Weave.

@Weave

Actually the second one came from the Russian Revolution, if memory serves.

I'm leaning towards before... if it was during... it wouldn't have been published in the english language and in Washington...
And it wouldn't have been after cause the U.S.S.R. wouldn't have considered it to be needed since they were "free"...
However, I did change it to fit a more modern theme...

Achilles all three of those would be really funny if they were not so true.

Actually, the third strip is fairly dishonest, with the implication being that it's b/c we're currently in Iraq that we won't spend the money on infrastructure. It's a red herring. We've know of infrastructure problems in this country for a long time, but have consistently done little about them, instead opting for more glamorous expenditures like a new stadium or museum. Katrina highlighted the problem of misplaced priorities.

I'm not a huge fan of political cartoons, but I did like Jae's 3rd cartoon (in the first post).

P.S. Achilles...love the avi.
