DVD Issue
Dear swampies,
A friend of mine burned me a DVD with data on it, but when I got it, I noticed it was highly scratched. Windows (and linux) both recognize the disc and I can even open some of the files, but some of the others seem to be unreadable. Is there a program that can coax out the data by ripping it to an .iso and then reburning it? Are there commercial solutions to clean these types of discs? I would rather not bother him with burning another disc so, if you find it in your heats, could you hook a swampie up?

I think it'd be easier to just bug your friend for a new copy. The amount of work you'd probably put into getting the scratched DVD to work sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Just get a new copy and make sure not to scratch it.

Indeed. Brasso works wonders on scratched discs.

Some people tell me if you put plain tooth paste on the scratches then rinse it the disc will work, I haven't tried it so I'm just throwing it out there

That does work, but not nearly as well as some Brasso.
