I'm worried about this "sequel" the article mentions. I hope it's just another way of saying they'll split it into two movies.

The fact that Peter Jackson is producing it makes me quite happy. Though, I do have to agree with Pie here.

That's true, but a strong producer still has a lot of say.

I hope splitting it in two will mean that it'll be following as much of the book as it can, unlike they did with LotR. But if it means they'll just be throwing in some crazy Lucas-style **** that makes no sense at all, I must say I'll be passing.
That is, if it gets finished at any point or end up like Halo, which was also produced by the almighty Mr. Jackson

Yeah I'm a little uncertain about the sequel they mention, but I'm very happy to hear all those legal disputes are over with and that Peter Jackson is heading this up.

I'd rather see a good Hobbit movie over Halo any day.

Halo wasn't happening anytime soon, anyway. The reason there are two movies is that there will be much more than just the Hobbit. Here's another article: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/...ck-to-mid.html

The first would deal with the 80-year old novel. The second, imagined entirely by Jackson and Walsh, would link the conclusion of The Hobbit to the start of the first Lord of the Rings book, The Fellowship of the Ring.

At first I didn't like the idea of them making everything up for the sequel but I guess if anyone can do it Peter Jackson can. I trust him to not ruin it. Just wish he'd direct.

It probably would be aimed towards younger audiences since The Hobbit is one. More than the "Lord of the Rings" books, at least.

People, it's only the Hobbit split into two parts. Not a sequel.
