I'm glad the Giants won... Mainly because the Giants earned it, but also because I love to see Tom Brady (and the Pats) taken down a peg or two. Thank God I don't have to listen to everyone comparing him to Joe Montana for another month and a half.

That said, it certainly was a hell of a game. I love games where both teams have to fight tooth and nail for every yard, and this one was a textbook example of the adage, "Offence wins games, defence wins championships. "

Wait! When did the Pats become the Yankees of the football world? When did they become the evil empire?

This is a new sensation for me: All my life rooting for the home teams around here meant hitching your wagon to hopeless underdogs, and setting yourself up for endless disappointment and being the butt of many cruel jokes. (Other than the all too brief glory days of the Celts and Bruins of the 80's, that is...)

Now it seems being a fan of the suddenly successful Boston-area teams means having to be taken down a peg.

This is all very odd and disorienting. Never saw it coming.

its been building, bill belichick is a prick externally(seemingly, his playes adore him but not many other people), the cheating, and the fact that no offense, I was treated better by packers fans at lambeau then I was by pats fans last year during the week before championship sunday and the pats lost that game to the colts anyways who of course ended up beating the Bears in Miami.

You guys have one of the rudest fanbases I have encountered and that is an opinion shared by many. Especially since the last few years its seemingly been the pats are crowned Super Bowl Champion in October and then they dont win it anyways

Ont he bright side for you, being that hated generally means you are really good!

They became the villains in Week 1, after Spygate. They further villified themselves to the rest of the league by going undefeated in the regular season and going into the Super Bowl with a swagger and an air of self-assuredness instead of hunger and passion like they used to in the past. Back in 2002 when they faced the hugely favored Rams in the Super Bowl, they were the scrappy underdogs full of heart and guts and fighting spirit. That was a Boston team that deserved to win. This year, they were the big, bad Darth Vaders of the football world, crushing everything in their path and going into the game fully expecting the Giants to roll over and die.

Instead, it turned out pretty much like the end of Return of the Jedi. After being socked back by a textbook Brady drive to put the Pats ahead (The Empire firing the Death Star II laser), Manning puts together an incredible, jaw-dropping drive of his own, capped off by that beautiful floater to Burress (Lando and Wedge delivering the torps into the heart of the DSII), then watching the Giants' amazing defense stop the Pats one last time (Hightailing it the hell out of the exploding DSII).

So, it really isn't hard to see why the Pats were the Empire. They were evil, and everyone in the football world not living in Boston hated them.

I may wear my Boston sports loyalties on my sleeve, but that was a great game last night. I guess the Herald's Michael Felger (who does the "report card") will be putting the blame on the offensive line, who couldn't seem to protect Brady all night, but credit the Giants for, as the Rock might put it, "bringing it". Also, if there was one coach I could stand the Patriots losing to, it was Tom Coughlin (former Boston College coach).

Ah.

OK.

I was mostly unaware of all that... not carefully following sports until major games like this.

I'm a Pats fan due mostly to geography. The rest of my extended family around here are RABID Pats fans... so I root for them by default.

(Same thing with the Sox. I want to see them win mainly because it's really just easier that way. Plus; I think they still kinda have underdog cache at the moment... but one more big year, and I think they'll probably lose it too.)

Interesting factoid: I was actually a Dolphins fan as a kid... due to my desire to be different, and the fact that I was born in a Miami suburb, so I felt some spawning-ground connection or something.

EDIT:

Today was mostly slow and easy. Worked on the monitor desk a while, pulling out channel strips and making sure everything is still connected and clean inside.

A remarkably subdued commute (both ways) to say the least. I imagine it would have been very different had the outcome of the game gone the opposite way last night.

Tired tonight. Bed early. Have to try to get my car inspected before work tomorrow.

Ed: Dolphins fans, bro! W3rd!!! I know, the Dolphins did not do........ well this year. (1-15, the only win to the Ravens... YUCK!) But we have Parcells running the Front end, so maybe things will improve.

I mean, at this point, anything would be an improvement!

More on my XvT/BoP progress:

Finished the Rebel campaign last night, so now all missions are completed on medium difficulty except that last two in the Imperial campaign. Will work on those tonight.

I dunno... maybe in other parts of the world that is true.

But the feeling exists around here that there's always the possibility that whatever combination of magic factors that has happened in the last couple of years could slip away any moment,.. and it could be another 50 to 100 years before we see another pennant race around these parts.

Sox fans appear to be (IMHO understandably...) a cautious lot.

In Boston, at least, they will probably always be seen as the scrappy underdogs... Until, perhaps, the day we win more World Series than the Yankees anyway.

Turok is pretty awesome. Feels alot like the original combined with Turok Evolution. I can't seem to get into a multiplayer game though. -_-

Played a bunch of different games tonight. Well, I tried anyway...

Sucked hard at all. Made zero progress at any. In fact,.. I think I actually lost progress on some them.

I guess I'm just not in the mood right now.

Work was slow and dull. Had a good lunch though.

Some e-mail I dashed off yesterday clarifying our official position on crew pay seems to have created an unexpected stir in some circles for some reason.

Didn't expect the reaction I got. Took me really by surprise.

Tomorrow night's show is going to be a major pain-in-the-ass. Ya-hoo.

Weekend is going to blow too... but at least that's 2 days of decent extra money.

Still haven't got my car inspected. Maybe Thursday or Friday morning....

Got some nice snowfall here last night, but my joy was cut short when my fiance's car decided to stop sitting half-in half-out of the driveway at 11PM... She'd backed the car up to move it to the other side of the driveway, and when she put it in gear to go forward again, nothing happened. The shifter had no tension whatsoever, and we couldn't push it back into the driveway because the transmission stayed in park regardless of what gear we tried to put it in. I had to park my car in front of it with the 4-ways on to make sure the plow didn't try to cut it in half while I was underneath it trying to figure out what the hell happened.

After about an hour of messing around (including 15 minutes spent just trying to get the boot off the shifter) I decided to get a hammer and shift the bloody transmission from under the hood, and it was during that process that my hand hit the transmission cable accidentally, and the thing moved like it wasn't attached to the transmission... Because it wasn't.

The bloody cable had snapped right where it met the transmission, but the rubber "accordion" covering it hadn't moved, so it looked like it was still intact during my initial look under the hood.

I banged it into neutral with the hammer, pushed it onto the road, hammered it into drive and drove it to a repair shop, hammered it back into park and dropped the key through the mail slot with a note taped to it saying I'd call in the morning to let 'em know what was wrong. It was 3AM by the time I got home, I had to get up at 7 to drive her to work, my 10 hour shift starts in 40 minutes, and I'm not allowed caffeine with the meds I'm on.

Nitro is one tired fella...

not alot of cowboy fans around here in bears country, but we have everyone from our division(and div of old ) equally outside of the pack, who we despise more than anyone.(thank god they lost the 3 games that mattered this year, 2 vs the bears, and the nfc championship game! sorry K_K!)

We got metric craploads of snow here. 18 inches in the last 12 hours, the county plows gave up around noon, and won't be out til 9pm. I got done with work, and when I got to my apartment building I saw it was unplowed and about a foot deep. Decided to park at the nearby walgreens instead.

Last night I won a game of curling with my last shot of the game. (I was playing 2nd). We were able to tie the game in the 8th end to go to an extra end. we didn't have hammer and had the difficulty of trying to steal. Our lead threw a center guard, then they threw a corner guard, and we countered with another center guard (fairly standerd opening) then they threw another corner guard and I was asked to take it out with my first rock.

Then they drew to the back of the 8 foot behind our center guards and I was asked to do the same thing but end up on top. I ended up being 4 feet shorter behind our guards on right on top of the button (center) a perfect shot with a little help from the sweepers.

THe rest of the game had them trying to take out a guard and we would put up another. Final shot of the hammer team was to do a very low percentage corner takeout and roll to come back and take out my rock. missed by about an inch and we won the game.

Woo hoo!

I do believe that last year at this time I submitted a post that was along the lines of:

"***! I HATE this goddamn show!!!!! "

Well... funny enough, that still applies. Go figure.

*Sigh*

Yeah, hopefully we can make a dent in the competition in the AFC, and the AFC East Division.

I'd like to see someone other than Indy or the Patriots be in top contention every year in the AFC.

close to beating Turok on hard difficulty. then i unlock...inhuman difficulty!

think i'm on the final level...it's freakin hard. don't really know what to do so i'm guessing. load times are too long for a xbox 360 game. -_-

Work was slow. Easy.

Tired again tonight. Only about 3 or 4 hours sleep last night. Bed early. Awesome.

Have to report to work at 6:30 am on Saturday. Will be a late night, too. Whoopee.

Better rest up now I guess...

Random Thought:

Saw a sticker on the back of piece of machinery the other day that struck me as odd for some reason:

"Made In Scotland"

I don't know why it took me so by surprise. Just not what I would expect, I guess.

Better rest up now I guess...

Random Thought:

Saw a sticker on the back of piece of machinery the other day that struck me as odd for some reason:

"Made In Scotland"

I don't know why it took me so by surprise. Just not what I would expect, I guess.
was it a bottle of scotch? cuz if not that IS wierd

my tracker is at the dealer. awaiting them to fix a 'donut' or something on the muffler, and check out the transmission. sucks, cause now i am relying on someone to drive me to bowling. i prefer driving myself there, or my sister driving me there, she'd let me use her car, but something is hanging off of it that drags and makes sparks...grrr!!!

apartment is pretty warm..well, imo.

oh yeah...other things accomplished today:

paid a few bills, got my taxes e-filed and approved by the IRS...oh and i got my mini digital camcorder out and threw the videos onto this computer so i could erase the memory and use it again.

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

Pretty chill, yet surprisingly productive day for me at work today.

Nice (though a bit pricey...) dinner with a few of the co-workers afterwards.

I have to be back out of bed in less than 5 hours to face a 16+ hour day of High School Jazz Bands tomorrow...

So: G'Night, all.

got to go bowling.....i bowled DAMN GOOD for what i thought...was throwing the ball straight down the lane....i bowled a 111. lol ok it's not the best i've done, but i was throwing it so fast that when it hit the pins, they went FLYING!!!! near the last 2 frames of our game, the bowling alley managers got retarded and stuck a group of teenies right next to us, despite the fact there were over 20 other lanes open, so we left after that game right over to dennys. got the usual grand slam breakfast meal, decided to go with hot tea instead of coffee.

gotta work 1-9 tomorrow. easy shift, no complaints here.

My mom is coming over tomorrow to help my sister clean out the apartment. I guess i need to start cleaning out my room of stuff i don't need and never use. aside from my star wars and pc game boxes collection.

Quarter past 3 in the am, and I'm up and ready(?) to face the day.

Always one of my favorite days of the year.

Oh well... it's an extra $550 I wouldn't be earning had I decided to stay home and sleep in. And it is a pretty easy day for me... just a long one. I just show up and "white glove" it, for the most part.

Gotta stand around in a suit all day... that's almost a deal-breaker...

My big hope today: That the crappy weather in New England scares a bunch of the bands into leaving early, making the night time showcase of the winning bands I have to mix very short indeed.

Wish me luck on that count...
