Got my Christmas bonus today... I'm suddenly in the market for a 42 to 46 inch HDTV, and have no idea what's what since it's not something I've ever looked into before.

Been in a pretty foul mood all day.

It's a pity too... as this was the day of our giant "Thanks For A Great Year, And Goodbye Until Next Semester" party for all our student crew.

I truly wasn't in any kind of a party mood, and I didn't have any kind of good time.

I think it's just exhaustion catching up with me... and the realization that I'm probably the only one of my co-workers not traveling somewhere interesting and exotic for the holiday season.

That, and the fact that I, once again, have no significant other for this season (and year, for that matter...) and that still doesn't look like it will be resolved any time soon.

My epic lameness has caught up with me again.

Hopefully catching up on sleep and eating home food in the next few days will improve my spirits...

Eh... I don't feel like I did that great right now. But then I'm wiped out and depressed... so everything seems bleak.

I'm still hoping after the holiday craziness is behind us that maybe I can manage to get back together with my model friend... but I'm not holding my breath.

She's apparently made no effort to get in touch with me yet, so I have the feeling what I got was meant as a very polite brush off.

But it's a crappy, crazy busy time of year for everyone... so I'll try not to abandon all hope yet.

But it would have been nice to not attend (for once) yet another family gathering as weird bachelor uncle Ed... the only single adult left in the family.

Oh well...

hey at least you got to go out with a girl, i didn't really get that much. the girl i was kindof interest in, the "text message" one, is ignoring my messages, so i'm a bit angry about that but whatever. that's why i got myself the xbox live subscription, mic, and some video games. girls don't care about me, so why should i ****in bother. at least until i get my own place. i can picture how annoying it would be to have a girlfriend while living at my parents', and 1 of my parents being home like 99% of the time. annoying. like a mosquito...

Maybe... but it also doesn't feel all that great to be dropped by a girl who seems desperate enough to go after a total stranger she knows nothing about online after only 4 or 5 or so dates.

Granted: I'm pretty sure I probably would have backed out of it myself before too long... but the knowledge that I am lame enough to completely mess up what should be as sure a thing as I have ever been part of in my entire life really doesn't help my self-esteem all that much either.

I guess I should give myself credit for at least making the effort a couple of times this year.

I only wish all the effort I expended had produced some kind of results... that I had something to show for all of it.

Hmmm...

It's an idea.

But I honestly don't think I'd be doing much else with the time I use to post here.

Still: as of next week, I'm going to try and limit my online time somewhat in order to tackle a couple of years worth of backed-up chores around the house before I get insanely busy with work again.

Specifically: I have to re-do that cellar space before I go stir-crazy.

I lost most of my personal living space when I lost access to that room down there.

But I don't know if the minutes I use to post here would be usable on the dating scene much...

Mostly it's all first thing in the morning; last thing at night; and during dead times at work. Sometimes during days off... when I'm between loads of laundry or other exciting events in my life.

And here...we... go!

I called District offices about me not being in my field services job and it being delayed indefinitely. In the absolutely nicest way possible, I threw my GM and Supervisor under a large shipping train. So when I go to work in the next few hours..... ugh.

I talked straight to our District Manager, showed alot of humility and told him the plans I had worked on to smooth the transition out to field services at the store level, but I still have no clear concise answers on why it seems like I'm being cockblocked from a higher pay, and now why someone below me whom I've worked with is being cockblocked from a promotion.

So I'll let you know how it goes.

Be careful what you wish for. The grass always seems greener on the other side. But believe me, there are definite advantages to being single. Less stress, less things to worry about, less responsibility, more freedom to pursue personal interests. Not that I'm saying relationships are bad, but, as I'm sure you already know, if you aren't happy out of one, you aren't going to be happy in one. So life is short, and it's best to find joy in whatever state you find yourself in at the time. Sometimes that joy is as simple as playing a fun game or playing a great song on the guitar.

We have quite abit of snow for out here. We had some yesterday morning but at about 3PM it really started to come down. I got home and grabbed the kids and headed to the hill at the end of the street. When me and my girl left at 6 there was more then 20 people out sledding. My wife and boy stayed out till almost 7PM. Very fun.

Ed, here is something I heard one of my friends say once...

Better to be single, then wish you were...

There is a babe out there for ya, it sometimes just takes a while to find her.

I came into work late because of the snow and traffic, and most everyone is out of work because of the holiday vacation so it's time to fire up a movie...

Todays entertainment....

Crank with Jason Statham and Amy Smart An adrenaline fueled thrill ride.....

Believe me I have tried a lot of dating sites and even paid money for a few. eHarmony might be expensive, but it is nice to know some people have put in an investment into finding a relationship. A lot of the other sites out there are nothing but booty call sites. or you get a picture of a nice looking woman. When you meet them you find out the picture is about 10 years old, and they have gained 150 pounds since it was taken *shudder*

Got up. Posted here. Took a sip of tea. Puked my guts out. Threw away rest of tea. Puked some more.

Called into work and got someone to cover for me tomorrow. Went back to bed. Got some more sleep. Feel better now.

Ate a little soup. Drinking some vitamin drink.

I hope the worst of it is over.

So the company is restructuring right when I want to leave the store.

Ohhh god I hate this. I now WANT to just leave but with out a job available I'm out of luck.

Maybe when the economy picks up again I'll go job hunting...

Been sleeping on and off all day, and now the dizziness and nausea are gone. Actually got down a can of soup and some crackers... so I think it has passed.

But now I'm weak and woozy. Dehydrated, probably. Gonna drink some tea, eat some fruit, and take a shower and see if I can't feel even better.

But I suspect this was the cause of my exhaustion and black mood yesterday: I was on the verge of coming down with something.

work was fun!!!! definitely one of the best fridays this holiday season! it snowed about 4-6 inches, i saw someone curbed their car into the post office water drainage ditch like i almost did a few weeks ago. sucks for them!

i got into work and they were just about closing it down, and i was like 'wtf i just got here!!' so i let my 2 coworkers leave and i basically just hung out in my department all day, putting alot of freight out, changing some labels, etc. nice to do work that didn't involve alot of impatient customers...

I'd offer you a position within Geek Squad but with the "Hiring Freeze" despite you being very much overqualified for it, I couldn't do much to get you in.

Picked up a 42" Samsung plasma, a blu-ray player, and a blu-ray copy of Top Gun (for good measure).

Watching Tomcats scream by and realizing you can see the other plane's reflection in the cockpit glass is awesome. HDTV, where have you been all my life?

Nice.

I think Blu-Ray will be my next big electronics purchase.

Of course, I'll need a true Hi-Def 1080P TV to really take advantage of it...

Next year... after I get my cellar re-done.

had to return world at war...was getting good at sniping, on the regular team deathmatch mode anyway...so yeah i played buncha games tonight...played Turok single player for a bit, then conquered a few territories in EndWar, and then finished up with a 2-3 hour round of Call of Duty 4, first reg team deathmatch, then on hardcore.

About 10 inches of snow here... and it hasn't really stopped yet.

And so it begins...

Unless you're getting something bigger than 50", the difference between 1080p and 720p is unnoticeable. I spent 20 minutes yesterday staring at two 42" sets from the same manufacturer, one 1080p and one 720p, and could not tell which was which without looking at the spec sheet. Hardly enough of an improvement to justify the $300 difference in price.

Well... my current TV is 720p... but it's small. Sub 40".

OK for the livingroom... but I'm gonna want something a little bigger for the centerpiece of the cellar once it is re-done. At least 42 inch. Probably a bit bigger.

My 50" Sony has 720p and 1080i, but no 1080p So I had to choose beteen 720p and 1080i for my X-Box 360. I can't really tell the difference. To be honest, I can't tell the difference between SD and HD.

720p and 1080i are virtually identical, actually.

There's quite a difference between SD and HD, at least when playing Xbox 360, it's noticeable.

I'd like to get a nice 42" LCD HDTV for the living room. The ones we sell at walmart are half-decent. I think I'm going to go with the Vizio brand when i buy one.

Mod Edit: Congrats, R15...this is the 2,600th post. WS

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.
