I was playing the Imperial campaign, actually, but I took a break and played the Rebel for a while, because I was stuck on the second to last mission. It's the one where you have to inspect all the rebel starships and destroy all the static defenses around the shipyard. I failed it a couple of times because I ran out of time, but it's so boring I can't bear to try again. Everything is so far apart that most of the mission you're just trying to get somewhere, and not actually fighting anything. I hate that. In TIE Fighter you could speed up time to 2x and 4x for occasions like this, but I guess they felt they needed to remove that useful feature for the sequel

ugh.
last night sucked
a 2 year old bad deal with a landlord resurfaced, but now the other tennants are out of state or have dissappeared and I am the only one left around easily found.
bastard is trying to back out of the deal he agree'd to before and get $$ from me for it.
Basically he 'let' us out of a lease because the place sucked and was way out of code and he had people to move in. Less than a week after I left someone else lived there.
Now he's apparantly fixed up the house to code and wants 4 grand in rent from me! Even though he rented it back out like was agreed, and hes the one that offered the deal!

my landlords are being greedy with the heat. it's cold up here. I about froze to death in my sleep last night. I get tired of calling downstairs to get them to turn it up or on. they know it gets cold up here.
One thing i'm finding about in life is that everybody that I give a little trust to ends up letting me down.
think i'll go check the mail and go get something to eat at dunkin donuts. bagel and coffee sound good. then i'll come back and play oblivion for a bit, then get ready for work.

My thermostat is out of whack. I have to keep it slightly above off, int order to live in comfortable 72 degrees, if i turn it off the temp goes down to 60
THankfully I don't have to pay the heat
in other news... it's my birthday. I have just completed 33 trips around the sun on spaceship earth

happy birthday K!
today was eventful.
drove by a few of the houses I have been looking at, most of them eliminated themselves w/o much effort on my part.
Also the one I kinda like made itself obvious that it should be talk downable because it needs work, work I dont mind doing, but it will cost $$$ and the price must come down.
I drove my dads car today cuz it had been sitting all week(he had shoulder surgery and can't drive anything plus its stick and it was his right shoulder).
It started making a nasty engine based noise so I had to drop it off at the dealer to get looked at
now I hope the rest of day can be as uneventful as possible

9 to 6? 8 hours with an hour lunch break. i wish i had that.
12 hrs coupled with a 15min lunch. then sleep for 4 or 5.
sry 15, but i cant simpathise on people who complain on how good they got. i work 12hrs everyday, and if im not lucky, which happens alot, i get to stay up even longer.
now multiply that times 320.
multiply that by 55
then go back, and multiply the oringal by some 250
multiply that by some i donno 30
go back, and multiply that by 3 or 4 thousand
multiply that times at least another 20.
after all that, add it all together, and maybe you'll have about close to the amount of the surface personel that the USN gots.
of course that's not near or accurate, but you get the idea.
so quiet you. *shakes fist*

yeah, but at least you get the honor of serving your country while working those hours.
i'm so close to just calling a recruiter and seeing about getting myself back in...think i'll talk to my parents first and let them know what i am doing....last time i shocked the hell out of them. that was 4 years ago. damn time flies.

So... how does Oblivion work?!
Looking at some guides, one tells me to keep the skills i use the most as minor skills, and use infrequently used skills as my major ones to control leveling, but that seems counter intuitive to me.

the leveling system is a little strange compared to morrowind. every creature in the game levels with you. using skills you don't use too much as your majors will kind of slow down your levelling. (though you can choose when you want level) frequently used skills as your majors will help you advance through the levels pretty fast, using minor skills doesn't help levelling at all. to level up, all you do is go to bed once your leveling bar is maxed out. Each time you level up, you are brought to a screen and given points to assign to different Attributes, which govern your skills (for instance, strength governs how much damage your blade does, willpower governs resistance and strength of your magick), if you've held off on levelling, but have levelled your skills alot, you can rest level up 1, assign points, rest again, level up 1, and can continue doing that until you are below a max level. (hope that makes sense)
You will probably feel like levelling every chance you get, however if you do this, the enemies become much more difficult, as they level with you, and then you'll realise that you should've raised a skill a few levels (the more you use a particular skill like using a sword will increase your skill with the 'blade', using destructive magick will increase your 'destruction' skill, using bow will increase marksman skill, jumping off ledges will increase acrobatics, going into sneak mode and having nobody see you while you're walking around will increase 'sneak', and the more you level your major skills, the more 'points' you get for levelling your character) though they drop better equipment for you to use, and you can specialise your character in certain areas.
You'll probably spend around 30 minutes to an hour setting your character up. I think that's how long i spent...an hour. Then the game begins and it's pretty easy to get into, and it can be as challenging as you want it to be. Just make sure you get specific skills levelled up a good bit before you advance in levels, this way you don't end up getting screwed when you encounter a random bandit who has some nice looking armor, but his blade skill is higher than yours, and your armor skill (depending what armor skill you take there's heavy and light armor i dont remember there being a medium armor in this) isn't the best. that could be a tough fight. There are several guilds to join, i recommend joining them all and doing quests as you go from one side of the map to the other, you'll be able to train your skills for a price too instead of doing them over and over. it's alot of fun and once you get into it....damn addicting.
oh, btw...i got home at 3:00am last night....4.5 hours of sleep FTW!!! i can sleep another 45, but why? i'm up NOW! think i'll shower, eat, play some oblivion then head over to walllllllllllllmart! lol cracken, if you have anymore questions about oblivion, ask me! it's very fun game.

Yeah... I need to spend more time with it myself one of these days.
Work was fun yesterday. The new speaker system is now tweaked as close to perfection as it is possible to get.
You know you are hearing a kickass set of transducers when you put in a CD of a track that you have listened to thousands of times, and end up standing there blinking in disbelief because you are hearing details in the music that you have NEVER heard before.
Wow.
Got home, ate, and went straight to bed.
Might attempt to put a group of people together this weekend to go see Cloverfield. The girl who asked me to see it with her last weekend is sick with the flu or something... and besides, she's already seen it now.
But now I kinda want to see it, and a couple of co-workers also expressed interest... so maybe I'll attempt to arrange a group expedition.
Organizing events like this is hardly my forte... but I guess it's worth a shot.

I just walked across the lake. the destination I was going to was 1.6 miles away as the crow flies, one way. it was 25 degrees out and overcast with a 5mph wind towards my starting point. I had more of a problem keeping COOL because of wearing my work freezer suit.
I went out and back and the last half mile was the worse. The snow was about 4-6 inches thick on top of the ice and I was tiring out real quick. Took me about 2 1/2 hours to do the whole trip

By all appearances, yes...
Hmmm... strange days, indeed.
In other news: The rest of the day kinda sucked.
Did catch up on some sleep,.. and finally got through that battle in Mass Effect that was giving me so much trouble the other day.
But beyond that, nothing of any real interest to report.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Might try to catch that movie.
Also, I need a haircut. Always a party.

Yes, strange days these are. Just yesterday I sat on the balcony and thought by myself "gee, I sense a disturbance, something is going on within this universe". No, really. Because today I was ought to help a friend moving to a new flat together with his girl. TWO DAYS AGO, this girl told him she didn't think it would work and now he has to leave his flat until January 31th but has nowhere to go anymore.
And now this. XD

Huh. Synchronicity... (Hmmm... Time to go listen to the Police, methinks. )
Cancelled movie trip, due to unexpectedly heavy snow. It may not amount to much... but it's really not worth taking the chance.
Guess I'll stay in all day and play XBox...

Finished Call of Duty 4 yesterday. Awesome game, really pulled out good stuff. I'm MUCH better at Multiplayer. Hardcore mode online gives me some problems, but normal mode I'm awesome at. Ph34r.
Got my butter bars in CoD4 too (2nd Lt. Ranking) so I'm pleased.
work continues to kinda suck.

I need to tackle more Call Of Duty soon...
Well the snow turned out to be a dud. Got about 3 inches in an hour... then it stopped, and never came back, despite the nastiness on the radar.
Could have made the movie, no problem.
Ah, well... live and learn (?)
Played some head-to-head Ace Combat with my buddy from work, instead. That was a blast. Been a while since I've been in a dogfight with a real live person. It was a challenge,.. but I think I did pretty good.
Them we teamed up and tried the timed co-op missions. Didn't do as good there... though we got really close a couple of times, we kept running the clock out.
We've found our respective roles, though: I'm the air superiority dogfighter, and he chooses a heavy attack plane to work down the capital ships.
Works out nice. And once I wipe out the defensive fighters, I can move over to help him.
Ah... work in the moning. Oh joy.

i worked a 12-9...finished off monthly maintenance of the printer...ordered a memory stick drive for the kodak picture kiosk...people REALLY don't like to read and keep forcing their cards into the wrong drives.
I work a 10-7 tomorrow...gonna play Oblivion for a few hours i think. I love going into the towns and doing the little side-quests. Trying to earn enough gold to buy a house in Skingrad. it costs 15,000...quite a bit. I could always try and reclaim a castle though...that wouldn't cost me anything, but i'd have to get rid of the people that overran it.
call of duty 4...taking a break...that freakn ferris wheel part has me pinned down. i'm playing through the whole game on Veteran difficulty. it's pretty damn challenging.
Cracken, once you are familiar with the maps on regular team deathmatch, i highly recommend going over to hardcore mode. it's way better, not as many freakin grenades all over the place. (and then try going from hardcore to ground war...you'll see how much you miss hardcore then lol) we'll have to do 'team tactical' sometime, get ed, you, and myself in and take on 3 other people.

There's still some things to do there, but when it's done it'll rock.

I wish my scores were that good...I can break 100, but that's about it..unless i'm drunk, then i can bowl really good.
went back to work......it was so dead there! glad i took that 3 hour break though, it made the time go by fast. gonna be on oblivion tonight.
tomorrow i'm planning on going to h&r block and getting my taxes done. this way, i can get $$$ fast to pay all my bills and get outta the hole. It's looking like Turok is going to have to wait, as my sis quit her job, and the job she was told that she had the idiot changed his mind, and she already burned her bridges. at least she'll not be working under a mother ****er anymore. now it's just up to me to pay the bills. i wonder if i can handle it...huh, amazing. i can handle ALL the bills myself...though this will leave me with hardly anything for food and gas. maybe if my sis does end up movin out on me...i'm not as in over my head as i thought i would be. though...it will suck not having the $$$...i guess that's what profit sharing checks are for. ^_^
i think i'll be ok!

I'm still having fun with the X-box and Gamecube. I got both of the Battlefront games last summer, and have been tearing that up for awhile. Overall, I was disappointed with the game selection for Gamecube, although I thought it was a neat little system.
Crackerman: I've been taking care of two sick parents, engaging in the culinary arts and writing. Pretty boring here, I'm afraid. I need a truckload of migrant orion slave girls to take a wrong turn into the driveway or something. Maybe that satellite will come down in my yard. Ninjas. Whatever.

Hmmm... Well, if you do ever get yer grubby lil' paws on a 360, be sure to also get Ace Combat 6. Together, we could be the terror of the skies!
I wish it were a space sci/fi game,.. as well as a true flight sim... but the combat can be pretty damn intense when you are ass-deep in it.
But I found my new favorite plane in the game tonight: The Mirage.
Like an A-Wing: way too fast and insanely maneuverable... almost too much so. Only a madman would want to fly such a machine in close combat...
So I went back and re-flew all my previously completed missions again with it.
On the next difficulty level. And I dismissed my wingman... I wanted all those kills for myself.

Just got done playing in a more competitive league. ONly missed 2 shots, one went through the house, one was short of the house, and one went to the back (1 miss and two half shots) The skip I was playing with was playing a real defensive game even when down 2-3 points he was still calling for me to throw stuff into the house and not guards.

went crazy on myspace....decided to check some of my old coworker's (pizza hut) friends lists...found someone i had almost developed a crush on before she went into the army, and may have been one of the people that inspired me to enlist. also browsed some other sites...makes me miss those days. hopefully the chick replies back to me.
Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.
