mechanic didn't really take a look at my car...just said transmission fluid levels were a little low. so i call my parents and tell them i can go pick up my car, they ask if they did anything to it, no they didn't.....so they bitch and yell at me to call the guy that sold me the car and explain him that the warranty is almost out and there's a problem, etc, etc. so i call and of course he's with a customer, the place is only open until 12pm, so it is highly unlikely he'll call me back before my mom comes to pick me up, and of course she'll drive past my workplace and over to the dealership and force me to go in and explain the situation, which will make me late for work. i'm at the point of calling off of work right now. i told my dad this and he calls me childish. of course, that's all they ****ing think i am anyway.

i'm really gonna be hating my job today. all my coworkers are gonna be there, so the mgmt will be forcing some of us on front register. think it's time to email a recruiter and get the ball rolling. i'm sick of being treated like ****.

edit: lol my dad called the dealer. now there's some funny ****. apparently the roads out where my parents live are a sheet of ice. i told them i could always call off, cause i don't have a ride....my landlords haven't plowed or de-iced the driveway (i just had enough salt left to get the stairs and part of the sidewalk).

Well... my furnace got switched off somehow this morning.

Of course, I never actually discovered this until I was already in the shower.

The water temperature never actually got much above "Arctic Ocean Water" warmth.

Well... I was dragging ass all morning, not wanting to get started, still half asleep.

No longer.

I just took a gloriously hot shower. Must have lingered under that water for fifteen minutes. Ahhhh....

**** off.

Actually... the brutally icy shower was only the warm-up (words chosen for maximum irony...) the precursor if you will, to a truly horrific "one of those days."

It was the worst of times; it was the worst of times. The best laid plans of mice and ed. I can't believe the week I'm having! And so on...

None of my carefully plotted plans came to pass in the order I set them out.

This was due mainly to the fact that the window I was given for the phone guy, 11am - 2pm, was either far too small to be realistic, or a complete work of fiction... since by the time 2:30 rolled around I still hadn't seen hide nor hair of him.

It was far closer to 3 before I heard a truck pull up outside... just as I was getting ready to give up on it and leave the house, and attempt to take care of the rest of my pressing concerns.

So now I had to walk him through the house (which is an absolute disaster at the moment, thanks to the cat and my work schedule of the last several weeks not allowing proper upkeep) and then wait the hour and a half while he installed the new equipment.

When he was finally done, I tried to get out and check off a few line items on my "to-do" list... but I met with difficulty and failure at every turn and step of the way.

The place I get my hair cut was standing-room-only for people waiting... with at least a 45-minute queue ahead of me. No thanks... I had too much other stuff to do today.

The grocery store was equally as mobbed. I skipped that too.

The car inspection place wouldn't see me today. Swell.

The pet-food store only had one bag of the dry food I normally buy.

My gas-cap tether snapped as I went to fill my tank today... meaning I'll have to make a trip to the dealer, or a parts store at the very least, in the near future...

Then the gas spout didn't shut off completely as I removed it from the car, soaking my pants and shoes... which I can still smell as I sit here typing this. Awesome.

So, out of all the stuff I set out to do when I left the house, I only managed to return with a single small bag of cat food to show for it.

As soon as I got home, I just crawled under the blankets, and tried very hard to forget today ever happened.

Hopefully the nap did me some good... but my mood hasn't really improved much.
I think the sleep was really what I needed most of all anyway.

But it means I have a really busy morning ahead of me tomorrow, to cover all that before trekking over to my buddy's house.

*grumble*

man that sounds like a bad day. i got my tracker back. they're doing 'research' on what will be needed to fix the exhaust leak. they said the transmission fluid was a little low, but not bad. if only they'd just drive it to where you can actually DRIVE IT, then they would see where i'm coming from. I don't drive it too far from home to actually NEED the extra power to go 50mph+, but when i'm headed over waymart into scranton, there's this huge ****ing hill that the tracker does NOT like getting into gear for, so i climb the hill going like 35mph with the speed limit 40-50. Maybe if i'd put the 4WD on....hmm i'll try that next time.

oh well....the guy did say he'd contact me later on.

Work was good today. people held off the whole week to develop their film on a saturday. so it kept the 8 hours rolling. i didn't eat lunch today. part of my 'save teh money' program. instead of spending money on lunch or driving home for lunch, i've come to the decision that i will leave any money and debit card at HOME, and just take a nap out in my tracker instead. All i had to eat today was a bowl of chili and a slice of bread, and 2 cups of coffee, each on my 15 minute break. (at least its free lol) this way, i save approximately $20-$30 a week, on gas AND food. (roughly $10-$20 depending where i go for food and $10 worth of gas for the extra trip home) I'm gonna just stick to it, get myself used to not eating so much. then i'll come home from work and tear the refrigerator apart....but i'll be saving about $60 a paycheck...which i may put into a little 'savings' thing. just gotta figure out what i want to save that extra $$ for. hmm maybe i'll save it for vacation, or sign up at a gym. i haven't been to a gym in forever...the last one i went to was fun, until some bitch kicked me off the treadmill.

That would be my department, I guess. My bad. (They need a chef smilie. The rabbit comes close, but not quite...) Ed, I looked up your horoscope today, and it appears that the chinese dragon is devouring the sun and unbalancing libra with its feces. The book says--and I quote--'Stay thee in bed atremble.'

I talked with not-my-girlfriend's boyfriend today. He has a psychiatric hearing monday to determine of they're gonna let him out our keep him locked up for awhile. I can't imagine this guy hurting himself or anyone else in a million years, but he didn't sound like he was back in tune with reality enough to pass an exam (in my layman's opinion.) I asked if he was taking his meds, and he said he was, although it sounded as if he were just doing it to shut the nurses up.

The subject of the female never came up. My past feelings are not a secret, as is my 'honor first' way of living life, but I think the matter of where she would go if he rejected her is something that doesn't yet register on his radar screen. Right now, we're all focused on getting him thinking straight.

Okay. Fine. Whatever. If she's Starbuck and he's Sam, that makes me Apollo and Dualla can show up any freaking time now!

*Gets drunk*

Yeah... that was the impression I got just getting out of bed this a.m. but for some reason I desperately tried to soldier on in a vain and foolhardy attempt to get things done.

The day went on to prove me the idiot I knew I was being. I had no business getting out of bed today, and somehow, I knew it.

Well... I'm going to try to fix something to eat, perhaps take another (proper) shower after that, and then maybe blow things up in the digital realm... although I tried some XBox earlier and was sucking very, very hard at it as well... yet another sign the stars are against me today, I suppose.

Perhaps I should just read or watch a DVD... some activity that's totally passive, so it would be hard to mess up.

My current female problems are along the lines of what happened to me today, actually.

Not outright rejection, so much... but circumstances interfering with plans, making it so not being able to ever arrange to be in the same place at the same time.

Honestly: it sometimes feels like the cosmos itself is trying to step in and quash any attempt of mine to end my extended alone-hood.

Arrow Options

Reading: papercuts, flammable medium, could cause eyestrain headaches.

DVD: machine could be wired with homeland security RF transmitter spy cameras, disc could give off chemical vapors when heated, and (dare I say it) subliminal advertising.

Wow. I'd go with the X-box--at least you can give the buggers a taste of their own medicine...

I think that this would be most accurate chef smilie: : < I swear I work with this dude!

Bah! You know you really belong in the sky with the rest of us flyboys, son! You've only just forgotten your true calling!

Seriously, though: pick up Ace Combat 6 when you get a chance... if for no other reason than to drool all over the graphics... which are oh so purdy!

If only they had made a Rogue Squadron game this fast and photorealistic...

Oh yeah... no doubt. But some of the graphics in this game are breathtaking... especially when you see them in true hi-def. Whew!

There's one mountain level that I kept getting wiped out on because I was too busy looking at the backgrounds for too long.

Fortunately, when you finish a level, you can go back and do a free flight: just putt around the level map with no enemies. I've done that a couple of times.

It also feels a bit faster than those games. The sense of speed can get really intense. I never quite felt that at this level in the the RS games.

The enemy AI seems more advanced too. Some of the enemy aces are a bitch-and-a-half to bring down.

Not that I think this game is better than the RS ones... but I sure wish there was an current-gen Star Wars flight game to truly compete with this one. That would be awesome!

Especially with the multiplayer options. Co-op and head-to-head.

Pweeese Lucasarts? PWETTY PWEEESE?!??

My water main froze last week and I put out my back crawling around under the house trying to fix it... Fortunately we didn't have any burst pipes, though. The back wasn't too bad... Until I really screwed it up trying to get my fiance's car out of a snowbank. She'd cleared out the snow around the car, but decided to try and just force her way through the snowplow-pile at the end of the driveway and got herself completely stuck. It really surprised me, 'cause the pile was almost up to her trunk and she's normally makes good decisions when she's behind the wheel... Anyway, after about 30 minutes of getting most of the snow out from under the car she starts getting upset about being late for work, so I figure there's enough snow moved to put down a little sand and push. And it worked, but just as the car started moving on it's own, my back felt like someone clobbered it with a crowbar.

Doc put me off work for a week and loaded me up with muscle-relaxants and anti-inflammatories. Today's my first day back to work, and it promises to be entertaining, since I'm still on the aforementioned drugs, and they leave me a bit... Loopy.

Ouchie.

I typically stay away from muscle relaxants and heavy pain medications these days, as I found I was way, WAY too into them the last time I was prescribed. (The first time my upper back/ neck went into full spasm...)

I could have easily slipped right into an addiction,.. and it scared the hell out of me to realize that.

Now I typically just suffer it out. Not fun,.. but it does get a bit easier with each episode.

I think I'm developing a pretty high tolerance to pain.

Or I've unconsciously adapted my behavior in a kind of bio-feedback to minimise aggravating the problem.

Either way, it rarely bothers me anywhere near as bad as the first time I had the problem.

As we all learned from Patrtick Swayze in Road House, "Pain don't hurt." Whatever that even means. I mean...isn't that the definition of pain? Meh, whatever.

one of the things I notice now that I almost reached the 1/3 century mark is that I don't bounce like I did 10 years ago. I used to be able to do 6 foot drops without any trouble, now I get a bit of pain in my ankles on the drop. Not to mention I had to deal with minor aches and pains every day.

I have always had a high tolerance for pain, but I miss the bounce.

I've been dealing w/ the residual aches from my heel fractures w/o any sort of medication for them, but they've been getting better as I've been walking (b/c the bones are stronger & I'm losing weight, meaning less weight for my feet to bear).

Ed, the big news this week on the other gaming boards has been the resignation of LucasArts' president, so we can hope anew for a new X-Wing.

Kewl.

Well, I'm hoping for more than that, actually. A full return to LA's glory days would be sweet!

But I'd settle for a couple of really good SW games that take advantage of next-gen technology.

My buddy called off the football game party due to everybody at his place being sick as a dog with a nasty stomach virus.

Damn.

I had no backup plans... guess I'll just have to get some snacks and watch the game at home.

Oh well... at least I don't have to rush to get all my errands done now.

Plus, I had the nicest shower I've had in a long time this morning. When I get back from my haircut, I may just take another one.

Hammond, or pipe?

Sounds like you need to channel the spirit of Bach.

Well... good luck with that. Pull out all the drawbars and press all the pedals. It will sound like you are doing something.

It's a Rodgers organ. So it's like a pipe organ without the pipes, I guess. We are renting it for Triduum/Easter, which is actually six weeks away or so, but we won't get it until then, so I'll only have about five days to practice on it. I can "handel" (heh heh) the manuals, but the pedals will be completely new to me, and I know nothing about registration. I tried googling for some resources but nothing much useful. So...yeah, I'm probably screwed.

Suck.

Pats lose. That's a bummer.

Oh well... at least now I don't need to worry about fighting a crowd getting into Boston on parade day.

And the rest of the season was nothing to sneeze at.

It was too bad the game was so damn boring for 3 1/2 quarters. All the real action in the last 10 minutes.

The commercials weren't all that amazing this time either.

Always next year...

that was a nice 4th quarter. i had to work through the first 3 quarters, just like the giants' last game.

work wasn't too bad. just a slowish day. some reason it went by fast. i left 30 minutes early...got my 3 big bags of garbage thrown out. watched the rest of the game downstairs, and now i'm havin fun making a playlist for my myspace. got a friend request from someone that used to work at walmart...she's annoying as hell so i'll just ignore it. guess that is what i get for taking my thing off of private.

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

Don't get me wrong. It's still MY SKY...dig? But I have found that getting into a fighter is about the quickest way to die in that game, and sometimes I play to see if I can stay alive.

I, personally, care little for football. Hairless monkeys tossing a leather ball back and forth--one would think that such antiquated modes of mock warfare are obsolete in this videographic world of ours. However, I do know someone who has something to say about it.

Wally the space dolphin says that he has observed the beer and facepaint ritual from orbit, and while he finds the presence of cheerleaders a curious thing, it is nevertheless not enough to blind him from the coded messages being sent in the open as it were to alien overlords that the Earth was ready for assimilation in the form of apparently random football plays, so he had to foil the plan by going down to the football field himself (in spirit) and aiding his aquatic airbreathing cousins by kicking the ever loving dogsh*t out of Boston.

Sorry, Ed. At least your shower's working.

Thank you Wally. Thank you for everything.

Go ahead and gloat, you haters. You'll all see next time...

Seriously... if I were actually more of a sports fan (and seeing as this was the only football game I bothered to watch all the way through this year, or come to think of it, at all, I'm kinda guessing I really don't qualify...) it would probably hurt a lot.

I guess I would have liked to see a perfect season for the home team,.. but whatever.

It actually has zero impact on my life whatsoever. In fact... the loss is actually better for my existence, insofar as it won't ruin a commute for me this week.

At least this loss didn't throw me into the funk I know some of my friends and neighbors are finding themselves in right now... and nowhere near the funk I found myself in when I learned Bush had been re-elected.

Why? It's not like they blew it. Much like Bush getting re-elected, it affects pretty much nothing.

That's life around Boston sports fans... what can I tell you?
(Although I doubt that hardcore sports fans anywhere are all that different...)

I've never quite understood defining oneself, you happiness, and your emotional-well-being around watching the actions of a group of overpaid strangers in funny uniforms getting exercise you should be getting, tossing a ball around on a field... but it seems highly important to a lot of people.

The whole concept is utterly ridiculous when you bother to analyse it intellectually... but I can tell you that this will be a defining moment for days, weeks, months, years, perhaps decades to come around here.

Every talk-radio and barroom conversation will center on "why?" and "what should have been done differently?" for only-God-knows-how-long.

And, as even as cynical as I am, I could debate that the outcome of a political contest actually does have some impact on each and every one of our lives... however: I truly now regret my earlier depression over it.

After all: Think of all the entertainment factor I would have missed in the last 3 years watching this administration unravel itself had Kerry actually won.
