Hey,

Quote:
You know, if you are going to make a voiced dialogue with revan i would encourage this: Make him/her talk in a "machine voice". No i do not mean a computer generated voice, but something like vader. Revan couldve gotten some sort of an injury while fighting the true sith so that s/he has to use some weird of a voice helper device (they do exist, but they sound horrible. You should rather use a voice closer to a human, yet still one without a very recognisable sound. Did anyone understand what im raving here? Im not quite sure i did...). At least i would make revan speak in such a fashion.
Revan will have VOs.
On your idea of having him/her sound like somewhat computer generated, I don't want people to think he sounds like Darth Vader but a voice sounding like he is talking with the mask on could be interesting.
I plan to do some VO test for Revan later in the coming months. Revan's VO along with the Exile's will be handled with care and I might let the community decide on the VO of these two characters by allowing you guys to listen to samples and give feedback to help me on my decision. I do know that no matter how good the Voice is some people will have issues with it.

MORE TO COME....

Well, to those people who think Revan should have no voice: in the first KOTOR, Revan says stuff out loud in-game when you assign him/her to do a task, like enter stealth mode, unlock a door, disarm a mine, etc. That's a VO right there.

@ last post: Very true.

Regarding VOs, here is my input on what they should be like:

Revan must sound persuasive. His voice must must likable by just about everyone. It must also have power in it, his words must reach into your heart and implant themselves there.

The Exile is a very empathic character, so her voice should reflect that. Where Revan's persuasion is more of the inspiring, Barack Obama type, the Exile's VOs must have a sense that she is bonding with you just by being present in the same continent.

If Revan should have a voice, why not ask the guy that's doing the KOTOR Triilogy movie to do it. An added advantage is that you'll have an added built-in fan base coming along with him . . .

PM me for links, Logan23

Considering trying out (or returning to) SWTOR? You may as well go through my link and help get me some SWTOR referral points!

when you say you want to make revans voice sound like its under a mask, do you mean like mandalores, which is basically a muffled, slightly mechanical voice?

I like how you broke down Revan and the Exileís personalities.

By the end of the month I will release the list of what will be included in the Demo.

Well, if you like it so much....

Revan:
Here you have a mastermind tactician, a great persuader, and a supreme Force user. To me this speaks "overperformer". Revan strikes me as a guy who is highly competitive and wants to achieve everything there is to achieve. He knows what he wants and how to get it. He's sort of the Captain Kirk of Star Wars in that he does not believe in no-win scenarios. The idea of loosing or letting people down is probably his greatest fear.

I'd say his weakness would be trust. I get the impression that he's trusted people before and they let him down. His natural instinct was to still trust people but his strategic side started making him very suspicious of others. Unfortunately he wasn't suspicious enough, since he overlooked his closest friend Alek/Malak and nearly died.

Exile to come later.

btw, will u find the exile depending on his/hers dark side or light side alignment?

Edit: eg, if s/he is dark, will u find him/her at malachor, or somewhere else if lightside?

Hey,

Another quick update:

I'm 90% Done with the Content Phase.
The rest of the content will be placed in during the Post Production.

The Post Production Phase has started

Before I get to this... I want to welcome Lord of Hunger onto the Team.
He will be helping me with Dialogues/Side Quests and Story Refinement.

Right now I'm working with Lord of Hunger in creating/ fine tuning the NPC/PC Dialogues.

I'm adding alien VO's and their lips.

I'm also starting to do some heavy reskinning of the modules for the game.

I'm also working on some new movies and cut scenes which will be using Blue Screen to allow me to create better Bink videos.

onto questions:
Quote:

Edit: eg, if s/he is dark, will u find him/her at malachor, or somewhere else if lightside?
The ending to kotor2 will not affect wither you bump into the Jedi Exile. The ending will affect his mood and other events/people.

I'm starting to make the list of what will be in the Mod.

MORE TO COME.....

Thank you, logan23!

Just want to say, I have read the plot summary and outline. Without giving you any spoilers as I probably don't have the authority to do so, I can honestly say this conversion has been well conceived and when complete will be one of the best non-restoration mods for KOTOR/TSL out there.

Cheers!

Hey everyone!

Just stopping in to show some pics of Corellia.
These images are of the city which you will be visiting.
I based the images on the reference material found in SWG.

http://img4.imageshack.us/i/corell4.jpg/
http://img4.imageshack.us/i/corel12.jpg/
http://img4.imageshack.us/i/corell6.jpg/

I still have few changes to some trims and touch up here and there but this will basically be Corellia.

my personal favorite of your recently released pictures is the one with the rodian and the window overlooking the ship and the background. I think that the background around the ship is very well executed.

Yeah, Nar Shaddaa should work wonderfully as Coruscant when reskinned... especially because you're going for the Industrial look....

Now all we need are some giant monsters and a steam powered star ship.... make KotOR 2: Steampunk...

Anyway, all of the modules look nice, however I think that you might benefit from getting somebody who knows how to model good looking modules in on your team. Not to say that these reskins aren't bad looking -because they're not- but maybe you could add some flavor to it as opposed to simply recycling old modules that everybody knows...

Just a suggestion since a reskin can change the whole feel of a module, but maybe something to ponder Logan.

I have actually been trying to model the Senate Rotunda for this mod, but all I've managed to do so far is create an obj in GoogleSketchUp that might not work in GMax. I asked TriggerGod to take care of the rest but he has a bunch of other projects right now.

I took a look at it in 3ds Max, and it looked... pretty horrid, TBH. It looked like an ax murderer went at the polys, making some of the polys look like they were "flying" out at me while I rotated my view, if you know what I mean. After I heavily edited it, the model looked good. If I can get it so that several hundred people + you can fit in it and look good at the same time, I'll export it... and hope for the best.

I first want to say, I loved the Kotor movie he and his team created

As for using him as the voice of Revan is still being debated.
Once all of Revan's lines/dlg are finalized then I will look into seeing what would be the best voice for the male Revan which could be Kevin but I don't even know if he will have time or be interested in the project.
This will be discuss further into the production of the Final version of RoR.

Thanks for the idea

Senate Rotunda for this mod and other new modules will hopefully be able to make it into the Final version of RoR.

Translating the Mod to French/text can be done but its something that will be looked at after the release of the Demo.

One issue is if any of the dialogues get tweaked after the Demo's release-this would lead you to redo some of the work so I don't know if this is something you would want to pursue after the full release verse the Demo's release.

Hey,

I want to say first, I now have a job

Onto the update:

I have started recording the VO's for the human NPCs that you bump into during the game.

I am going from module to module in order tinkering with the Mod's triggers and adding lips to the npcs and adding placeables and dlgs.

Also the alien VOs and lips are also being added at this time.

I hope to have a video for you guys in August -showing a few minutes of the Demo in action.

MORE TO COME....

Make sure your dialog is final for the NPCs before recording VO's. Otherwise you'll end up frustrating both yourself and the voice actors.

Glad to hear that there will be VO's, that certainly will add life to the mod. I'm looking forward to the video.

I am going from module to module in order tinkering with the Mod's triggers and adding lips to the npcs and adding placeables and dlgs.

Also the alien VOs and lips are also being added at this time.

I agree. It might be a good idea just to do the alien NPC VOs and lips for now, and save the English dialog for later. After I get my hands on the demo, I might come up with dozens of extra side missions and such. I wouldn't want you to have to re-do all that work, or try to find the same voice actor to record new lines.

I know some of you are concern but all the human dialogues are being voice by either myself or friends i have over my place to do some VO work. This allows me to tape many samples for the same lines and then place in the ones that feel right. I will also be working on tweaking the voices pitch as well as go into character so you won't hear my regular voice.

Many of these VOs are for characters who will tell you to keep moving or make a remark about the present world events. I will have VOs in bars which the customer will ask where is that waitress or this drink is horrible, or where are my friends..did they leave me here.

Major characters will have certain people Voicing them, this is for the non important of fun dialogues.

Redrob41, there will be plenty of room to add more side quests since the Demo is meant for a sample of the final version.

I'm right now building the final versions of the modules in basic order so when this phase is done I hope to be ready to start pre-beta testing.

Thanks to everyone for your support

Hey everyone!

This will be a 2 part update.

I'm right now polishing up the mod and going through adding anything I feel that's missing and placing in lips as well as Human VOs.

I am in need of a person who could do a Vandar/Yoda VO for the Jedi Master Ulon Tuain.

I have been able to adjust my modding to my new Job's schedule.

The second part of this update will be a video with some of the VOs in game as well as some gameplay. I hope to have this by next Saturday the latest.

MORE TO COME.....

Damn, you've made some serious progress since I last saw this thread.

Unfortunately, I can only think that for the VO's it might be better to splice out the dialog than scour the earth trying to find somebody who can speak like Vandar/Yoda.... however, you may just get lucky, who knows.

Also, for the council, I think that you might want to move Ulon Tuain's model forward about ten centimeters or so so it doesn't look like he's clipping with the chair.

Otherwise, good luck with getting the VO's!

Just to show you that I haven't been completely idle for the last few months, here's a screenshot. I've started working on Quan Drayen, and I've tried to make him a little more unique (and aged him appropriately). Here are a couple of different styles of Kiffar tattoos that I've been playing with:
Show spoiler

The green one is a continuation of the design that Logan23 was working on (with an added detail at the widow's peak). The red one is based on Vanlin. The yellow one is a very common one, most notable for Tinte Vos, her brother Kurlin, and Quinlan's father Pethros.

As always, comments are welcome

I like the red one the best, looks less like a simple Paint retexture than any of the other ones. Though, truth be told, I'm not too hip on these Kiffar tattoos anyway... :s

I personally think the green is the best. The red lacks enough red and the yellow is a bit too simple IMO.

However, the overall quality is awesome as usual mate.

As of 3/14/10, TSL is restored. The Sith Lords Restored Content Modification by Stoney and Zbyl has been finished and can be downloaded here.

I love the Kiffar race, it's my favorite one ! *crosses fingers for possibility of playing Kiffar in TOR*
Any chance for releases of other heads with the tattoos but other patterns?
And the screens look AWESOME!!
