Calo Nord Recolor

Hello to everyone. I'm a new guy around the forums publicly but have been lurking around for awhile keeping up on mods and works people are doing, but only recently really got into working with mods beyond just adding them to my game. Now thats changed as this is my first submission to the community and hopefully not my last. I know the rule of thumb is to never release your first reskin no matter how good you think it is, but I always had a problem following rules like that.

Anyway, I never liked Calo Nords colors. He always seemed a bit too colorful to be a ruthless bounty hunter. I couldn't find any recolors of him except for Wolverinestabs version, which please don't take me wrong, he did excellent on, but personal preference still didn't like him being so colorful. So what I did was recolor his clothes to be darker. This was me really learning how to use the shade brush in photoshop, but the end result came out well enough that I feel comfortable releasing it. He now wears a dark gray coat and pants with the original light tan linen cloth colors untouched. All in all it took me about an hour to do everything from the first saturation layer to the dark brush layer. Hope ya like it.

Also, let me answer a couple questions that may crop up as you examine the screenshots.
1) The republic uniforms are from the mod "Republic Uniform Reskin" by DarkDiva.
2) The pistols Calo is holding are from the "Weapons of the Old Republic" mod by T7Nowhere.

So there ya have it. I am gradually working towards making him appear to be wearing a black leather jacket but my skills are still quite a ways off from making that photoshop magic happen just yet, plus I'm not sure if that would look good anyway.

I submitted the file to Lucasfiles and will submit it to the filefront site as well, so I will edit this post when I get a good link for people to download it with (if it ends up being approved).

*edit* Filefronts main site put it up instantly, so here's a link:
Download

*edit #2* the kotor filefront site put it up now and it can be downloaded from there now as well.
Download

Here are the screenshots which can also be found at the filefront link above:

Screenshots

Please also note that as it is being hosted on the kotor files filefront site that I will not be editing this post any further so as to prevent "bumping" since having it there makes it easily accessible to the masses. Within the next week you should also be able to find it on lucasfiles and in the correct place on filefront.com (not to be confused with the kotor files specific filefront). Thank you for the kind words and hopefully I can come out with some more work for the community as time goes on.

Shem noticed that the download size was a bit excessive due to the screenshots and pointed out my oversight, so I have corrected the file and am working on getting the copies out there replaced with the reduced size (from nearly 900k to about 239K-ish). I apologize for the oversight to the community, it was my first file and won't happen again. Thanks again to JCarter426 and Shem for the review and guidance. Look forward to seeing you around the forums.

This is nice.

Are you going to recolor the hat?

In my opinion it needs a darker color as well.

While it's just simple lowered saturation and desaturation job, it looks suprisingly good.

Thanks for the replies. Again it was a simple procedure, but needed IMHO.

I've gone back and forth on this. I think if I do end up recoloring, it will be even more simple than the rest of the recolor job and I'll literally just adjust the brightness on it down.

Since I'm still a photoshop padawan if you will, I'm sure I'll be reworking this texture some more to see what else can be done with it. Eventually I would like to learn how to integrate and enhance the texture vs. just recoloring it. I think in my mind I see the subtle hints of the wearable Calo Nord battle armor plates outlined in the chest. The inspiration for this coming from the "Playable Sand Person (Tusken) Male" mod by redrob41 with the armor being visible from the robe, though again, it would just be the subtle plate outlines through the shirt. The method to do that would follow "Juhani's Dark Robe" mod by Chainz.2da who used the angle of light to see different patterns in the robe, which would be when you would see the plate outlines for Calo. But that is far, far in the future when my skills have matured with photoshop.

Hopefully after some more reworking I can hit a "finished" product, and yes, I know there's really no such beast as a "finished" product, but the hunt is all the fun. Well, thanks for the words of encouragement and see ya around the forums.

Nice reskin. And those are some pretty cool guns he has, where did you get them?

This does look quite good.

I always thought Calo looked like a flamer.

Thanks for the good words. Just noticed today that there is a small bit of orange on the hat so will probably be adding in his head to the recolor as well to get that fixed. Also plan on touching up the goggles with a little lens flare or something to make them not quite so fake looking.

Good idea, I never liked Calo's bright blue jacket. I'm putting this one in the override.
