Backwards Lightsaber
Am I the only one who is bothered by the fact that the Apprentice holds his lightsaber backwards? I really wish he would hold it normally because it looks better that way.

If he holds it normally, the player won't be able to see it from a third-person perspective.

Holding a lightsaber normally isn't new and edgy enough. Didn't you get the memo?

I can understand that... but the fact that it's backwards alone doesn't bother me. I've seen other posts where people are legitimately bothered by the fact that it's backwards.

I think the conventional way looks better, that's all I'm saying.
I wont feel any differently about the game because of it (there are much better things like the lack of content for the Next Gen Consoles to worry about), I wont lose sleep over it either, I just think it looks dumb.

Sorry if it came across this way, Fortune, but I really didn't intend to criticize your viewpoint. I was really speaking about an earlier thread on the topic where people seemed genuinely upset by it.

There's another topic a little down this one commenting on the "fancy" way the Apprentice holds his saber. I shall repeat my comment there: People, you're way to orthodox.

Personally I like an accurate representation of Shien, lol (not like kotor where changing styles just changes stats).

I like it, I think it looks cool. But I'll have to wait and see how it looks and plays in-game, though. Still, I think it'll be great.

The form is called "Shien" and I like it better, mainly because it isn't used in any other game that I know of

I think it looks pretty tight, it's a good way to break the mold as far as lightsabers go.
Plus it's pretty much bad ass.

It really doesn't bother me. I think that it is pretty cool actually. It is different. Starkiller is a different kinda guy I guess. To me, he really isn't 'conventional'.

It's awesome, no one else uses Shien as their primary form, I love Shien, whenever I'm having a saber fight with a friend I try to use Shien, it's fun, and hard...

I think it's something new and kinda cool, edgy, ya know? If you think of the first time you saw Darth Maul's dual lightsaber, and thought "Oh cool, I hadn't thought of that" Or Dooku's curved hilt, it's not traditional, but neither is the SA. He's unleashed, a bit rough around the edges, and I think it was very fitting to have a new force 'wrecking ball' come out with a badass way of holding his saber.
that being said, I can see how it would bother some... just the same way not being able to dual wield is bothering some.

It's a personal style. We see a lot of different styles all over the movies and Expanded Universe (Count Dooku being particularly noteworthy), so Starkiller's style doesn't bother me one bit.

despite the fact that jar'kai is my favorite style, the fact that you can't do it in this game still doesn't bother me. XD

He's only expecting to get enemies from behind. With his uber-coolness radiating so strongly, no one would dare attack from the front.

It doesn't bother me, but I do wonder: What possible advantage is there to holding your lightsaber like that? I mean, yeah, you can hold your lightsaber any way you want and call it a new form, but how exactly is that helping?

it has the element of mystery. not many people use Shien as a primary style, so not many would know how to counter it well either. keeping your opponent guessing is half the battle.

I personally think it's kinda cool to have the change. I would be a little unconventional in my saber holding if i was that powerful

In JK, JK2, JA, BF2 (I cant think of any more at the moment) the 3rd person perspective shows the lightsaber.
Believe it or not, it is a bit more defensive with a different attack style added. It also is a way to hold a sword (anyone seen equilibrium. I know it's not real but the idea for such a grip had to come from somewhere)

It's different, it bugs just a little, because I don't know how he'll swing I love to watch Shien in use when fighting with friends, because they always hit something sensative I'm curious to see how'l he'll swing and fight...

I think he is a Shien user - after all, Vader is his master, and as Anakin he was most proficient in Form V.

If I am correct the Jedi Knight games were in 3rd person and I never had a problem seeing the lightsaber. Regarding the original post, I think they just did it so the SA would stand out, wich I hardly see as a good reason.

I didη't claim that it was a good reason. I was simply repeating what one of the game designer persons said[ about it].

Standard grip in Wii Version?
Here is a Wii gameplay video that was put out several days ago: http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/88536...ii_070208.html
I'm watching it right now and not seeing the apprentice use the reverse grip, it looks like he is holding his lightsaber like we're used to. TBH I kind of like the reverse grip for him, makes him like "I'm too badass for a normal grip".

Makes sense. If people are meant to hold the Remote as a saber grip, then the devs must assume that most people won't have training on holding the saber that way.
It's kinda like Twilight Princess. Everyone knows Link is left-handed, though on the Wii version he holds his sword on the right hand, since most people are right-handed.
