Old game/new computer

I am trying to play an older pc game on my laptop. I originally got the game for my desktop (which runs well). I have installed the game onto my laptop but when in game most of the screen texture is purple. I was wondering if some one could help me?

Laptop:
Compaq Presario V2000
# OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Home
# PROCESSOR: Intel Pentium M 710 -- 1.4 GHz
# SCREEN: 14.0" WXGA Widescreen (not the BrightView)
# MEMORY: 256 MB SDRAM (1x256)
# HARD DRIVE: 40 GB 4200 rpm
# CD DRIVE: DVD/CD-RW combo drive
# BATTERY: 6-cell lithium ion
# WIRELESS: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG WLAN (without Bluetooth)

Game:
Siege of Avalon - Anthology
*System Requirements
*Windows 98 or Me
*Pentium II 450MHz (Pentium III 550MHz recommended)
*4X CD-ROM Drive
*64MB of RAM (128MB recommended)
*40MB Hard Drive Space
*800 x 600 monitor, video card, 16-bit (65,535) color and 4MB Video RAM, *AGP port recommended
*Mouse
*DirectX 8a compatible video card
*DirectX 8a compatible sound card

Here is a photo that shows what I am talking about:

I used to have one of those lappies.. specs are fine for that game, xp/win98 compatibility is the key

first, and easiest thing to try is win98 compatibilty mode

r.click the program icon>compatibility tab>select win98

Download the 1.2 Patch. It usually fixes the pink screen bug.

Thanks I have tried both and now have a new problem. After starting the game and exiting the story intro, a window pops up titled 'Failure' List index out of bounds (255). Any ideas?

Could you copy/paste the exact error message? Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v will grab and dump what is in an error window.
