Hilt Request KotOR 2

Hi I found this picture and i think the hilt is awesome so I need some helpfull modders who can help me. I want it to replace the hilts in the game that way I don't have too stick with those ugly default hilts already in the game. I want a button on the flat grey part on the upper side of the hilt

Thx for ur attention.

I didnt volinteer you I just said that you do uwv maps well.

You named a name, - that would be seen as volenteering, best not to use the names of any modders in a request thread. -- j7

Are there anymore pics of it?

I could try looking at RandomSabers to see if there is a saber like it there.

I've seen this saber on their forums, in the renders section. I can't remember who it was, but I've seen it. There isn't any others.

Thought I might take a stab at this seeing as it's a pretty cool design.

Triangulated mesh should end up around 1100 polys. I foresee that mapping it is going to be unpleasant.

EDIT: And here's a mapped and shoddily textured hilt:

Wasn't quite the ordeal I was envisaging, but still required a lot of tweaking to get something reasonable. There are some minor seams, but it wouldn't be noticeable in-game.

Btw, for those that were wondering, I called it the Lawson Saber after the guy that designed it, Robert Lawson. He only referred to it as "My Saber" rather than giving it a proper name or history.

Absoulutly beautiful Parametric(as seen in all other mods). Is it possible to have the buttons that is shown on the updated linked pic on the hilt?

It's about as high as you'd want to go. Most saber mods try to shoot for hilts around 1000 polys or so. Your buttons added about 150 polys to the base mesh. I probably should have knocked them down to 6-sided cylinders instead of 10-sided, but it should be OK.

to Nero Eindride, what a great choice for a saber hilt!
to Darth Parametric, fantastic recreation!
to both, I would be interested in adding this creation to my game. Is there anyway I can get a copy?

Wink hehe

Well Nero, Darth Parametric has recently sent it to me. It is very cool. I would like it even more if it would replace one saber hilt and not all, but, I'm picky I guess.
However, it is still a great saber and that is my only complaint. Perhaps, if/when Darth Parametric releases it to the public, it could be part of a pack and replace only one color/saber hilt... hmm...
Thanks Nero for requesting it. Otherwise it would not be in my game!

If I make a public release, it will be as a unique saber. Default hilt replacement was what was specified for this request.

EDIT: Available on this page - https://dpmods.bg2redux.com/tsl_sabers_misc.html

Red face Good point

I think in all of my mental hoopla, I forgot that fact, being the original request. Here's to hoping you find your way to creating a public release! *xing fingers and toes.

Not only released publicly, a version for Jedi Academy too if possible. Drop the red buttons and it'll be Robert Lawson's original (minus the ring) design.

Dang! I forgot to add the Jedi Wave.

DarthParametric, could you pm the hilt to me too, please?
If you have a version without buttons, I think that one looks better, but both are awesome.
