A few days ago, I decided that I would begin work on a small mod, so that I could learn a bit about scripting for the KotOR games. My little experiment ended up coming together rather well in my opinion, so yesterday, I decided to turn it into a public mod. I'm very nearly done with it, I just need to figure out how voice over's and lip syncing work, but after that, it's good to go.
Basically, this mod adds a Weequay called Arbak to the Garage on the landing platform on Nar Shaddaa. When you speak to him, he will offer to repaint your droids for 200 credits per job.
Here are a few screenshots, displaying the options you can choose from:

As you can see, choosing the 'just a clean up' option for T3 will restore him to his former glory by giving him back is skin from KotOR 1, the texture for which was included in the TSL game files.
Also, there are things not in the screenshots, such as the appearance the droids are currently using not showing up in the dialog and the options for each droid only appearing if they are currently in the party.
For a first mod, i'm quite pleased with how it's turned out, though I wish I could get the voice over and lip sync sorted out. I only want to use a Weequay voice from elsewhere in the game, but it's just not happening, i'm afraid.
Oh, one more thing: does anyone know of a way that I can make the portraits change at the same time as the appearances? As far as I can see, there's no scripting function that does this... I believe there's a portrait column in appearance.2da, but i'm not sure whether or not it works... I shall have to find out when I get back to the computer.
Thank you for your reply, battle111. I'm just working on fine tuning some things now, then i'm going to poke around and see if I can get the voice over working properly. I know that's not really an essential part of the mod, but I do feel like it'll make for a more immersive experience in the end.
If anyone has any experience in the lip syncing department, please feel free to post some advice, as it's got me baffled for the moment!
Looks pretty cool! Good work. If you want to have more continuity with the rest of the game you could find that line where the Exile tells T3 he looks beat up and old, and have an option that appears it if the Player has used the clean up job on T3 saying something like he used to look old and best up but not anymore. Just a thought.
The truly fallen cannot return to the light. If someone "falls" and "returns," they never really, truly fell.
Great job. I love these mods where they are not only a cool idea but also gives a tool for others players to want to have a skin added but feel naturally - they could re color their droid as they wish too.
Wow, quite a few new replies here since last time I looked. Thanks for all the input, it really helps me to get an idea of how people will react to the mod.
The only issue I can see with restoring HK is that I don't believe his KotOR texture is still in the game files and as of right now, I seriously doubt my Photoshop skills would be up to reskinning him to look as he used to. :/
Lip syncing is about the only thing stopping the release now. Everything else is worked out and bug free.

The texture does still exist in the game files, but it is a lower res. It's named "PLC_HK50".
