Feb 09: Essence of the Dark Side.
Time to dig deep into the darkest and most twisted corners of your minds people
This month's topic is of the Dark Side!!!
Essence of the Dark Side:
What exactly is the dark side?
How can you truly sum up what it means to be evil?
How does a person fall to the dark side and why?...
... Just a couple of things to help you see what I mean ...
Looking forward to reading how dark the writers of Lucasforums can be ....
Have fun and good luck!!!!
The_Catto has requested a fanfic review for this thread.

Yes, it is!
The sun goes down and the sky reddens, pain grows sharp.
light dwindles. Then is evening
when jasmine flowers open, the deluded say.
But evening is the great brightening dawn
when crested cocks crow all through the tall city
and evening is the whole day
for those without their lovers

There was an idea I had once that I think can loosely relate to the topic. I'll see if I can work on it, it can be great.

Would it be acceptable for my entry to be a continuation, or possibly a revision/rewrite, of an entry from my never-finished Diaries of a Jedi series? As I recall I never reached the point in that fic that I hope to use for this month's contest, and if it's acceptable I'd love to do so.

In answer to your question Doc:
As long as the entry has not been published before on LF or any other fanfic site then you are in the clear.
Reminder to everyone:
Check out the rule thread for the list of rules that make an acceptable entry for Javyars.

I would have to say a revision of a story would not be allowed, but if it's a previously unpublished chapter in a continuing story, that would be fine.

Errr...what's the deadline?
Chapter 12 of A Soul Adrift is out.
Short stories:
T'katlu: On the planet Felucia, a young apprentice of the Dark Side thinks back to the beginning of her training as she lies in wait for her prey...
All the Time: After four years in the Unknown Regions, the Exile returns to the known galaxy to visit an old enemy.
Broken: A master of the Dark Side finds himself about to lose the one thing he cares about--and he will do anything to stop her from endangering herself.

You'll definitely see me here...( Insert EVIL laugh here)
---------------------------------------------------
Deep thought #1: In the end, everyone dies. No one can outrun time, death itself is always breathing down your neck, just waiting to slip the noose over you. But, in your time of death, what matters is not when or how or even why. What matters is what you do with it. Do you sit down and call it quits, or do you get up, stare your killer and death itself in the face, and laugh copiously, right until the end.

Does it have to be a force sensitive individual, or can they simply be dark and evil in nature?
It is all that is left unsaid upon which tragedies are built.

^ I'll defer to Mr_BFA on this, but I think that being Force-sensitive is not a requirement.

Mmmk, so basically, we just have to epitomise/embody/exemplify evil and darkness in some way. I'm ready to go. :P

Okay, so yesterday I submitted my first ever fan-fic. In all honesty it wasn't really connected to Star Wars, nor was it much of a story. But yeh, it embodies my view of the darkside. Would that count or does it have to be a story, with a character and such?
Grand Admiral of the Imperial Remnant.
"This one is constantly thinking, analyzing, strategizing. He showed no fear, but was curious, studying me in turn."
―Emperor Palpatine
"All thoughts are worth listening to, whether later judged to be of value or not."
―Thrawn
"I have no qualms about accepting a useful idea merely because it wasn't my own."
―Thrawn
"But… it was so artistically done."
―Thrawn's last words

It has to have some kind of connection to Star Wars. It doesn't have to be a major connection, but it has to be related somehow.

Oh god . . . I already submitted it. Geez, I sure hope I did include a connection somewhere . . . damn thats a stupid mistake of me to make. I think I included one . . . I think . . .

Maybe it's a stupid question, but I just want to be sure before I submit anything - are there any specific instructions/rules when it comes to submitting an art entry, or should I just make a normal thread here and put an "Other" prefix?

yo, can i just point out that the last javyar's contest was a draw between my and mr_bfa and i simply abdicated responsiblity for the topic-choosing (with conditions... ). so can i have one of those neat little badges aswell?
Put any badge requests in the badge thread in the forum feedback section of the main forum board, or PM one of us staffers, instead of posting here. I didn't see this at all (since it's off-topic for this thread) until I checked and saw there were what I thought were questions about this month's contest. --Jae

My submission isn't so much a fic in itself, as much as a retelling of my alternate star Wars future from the point of view of a prominent Sith Lord. Does that still work?
