I think they're a good idea - and it's great the community can nominate people for badges too.

I'd suggest more badges, but I can't think of any.

I really like them.

Helps build the community, imho.

Even though the community is pretty strong already.

...What do they do? And why? Kinda reminds me of the old Lionhead forums, It just transformed people into jumping through hoops for a small 1/2" x 1/2" pixel square...

Excellent idea. They remind me of Achievements on the Xbox 360. Do they justify looking down on those without them?

I would like to know the difference between a Forum veteran and 10 year Veteran, and why got one and not the other.

Unlike these here young wipper snappers I couldn't care less about these new fangled gadgets on the intertubes when I was quite happy with the only complex gadget i had at home was a washing machine, sure beats cleaning them on stones near the river

They look very nice! Though I don't get why there's a white triangle in the corner; I would've made that part transparent like the other corners...

Meh. I don't care one way or the other. (shrug)

Chapter 12 of A Soul Adrift is out.

Short stories:
T'katlu: On the planet Felucia, a young apprentice of the Dark Side thinks back to the beginning of her training as she lies in wait for her prey...

All the Time: After four years in the Unknown Regions, the Exile returns to the known galaxy to visit an old enemy.

Broken: A master of the Dark Side finds himself about to lose the one thing he cares about--and he will do anything to stop her from endangering herself.

Right now I think that they are terrible and that anyone who has them is an elitist jerk with nothing to be proud of in real life.

If I get one sometime I will think I'm awesome and anyone who doesn't have one is an idiot and a noob.

If there had been a "what? badges?" option I would've selected it.

"Our posturings, our imagined self-importance,
the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe,

Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark.
In our obscurity – in all this vastness – there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

I voted option 3, great for those that like them, not a nuisance to those that don't care much.

How do you exactly get these things?

To be honest, it shifts some balance. Who judges if someone is helpful or not? Or who's funny or not? Or who makes sure all fan fic winners get their badge (me wants dammit! Beauty and the Wookiee! ).

Despite that issue, it pimps out the profile though.

There are some more details on the badge system here

"Awesome" might not be the best word. Let's go with schnazy. They're a nice attempt on something different.
