Brilliant response, Hall, I always knew you had it in you.

From MST3K's spoof of "Hercules Unchained"--heard as Roman medic soldiers carry off an unconscious Greek Hercules on a 1950's Army green canvas stretcher: "Hi, we're IX-I-I. Did somebody dial IX-I-I?"

TOPIC:

The new Lucasarts games (it feels weird to be typing those words... almost forgot they still make them...)

Specifically: The new Indy game for Wii, and the remake of Monkey Island.

And does this represent LA finally getting a clue, and going back to the types of games that made them great in the first place?

Though it won't go up online until Monday, we did touch on two LucasArts games in Episode 7. I have to confess though, that most of us were not too excited about another Clone Wars game, nor the upcoming Battlefront title for the hand held systems. Though I tried.

We will probably touch on Monkey Island some more once Jeff get's back from E3 as he has seen it first hand.

Also gang, sorry about the delay between episodes. Right now I am trying to recruit some stand bye podcast members, and extra sound editors so we don't have to keep rescheduling due to lack of participation. Summer is a funny month where you have multiple holidays, graduations, conferences, weddings, birthdays...etc. Our staff is pretty dedicated, but we still do this on a voluntary basis for fun, and sometimes often life gets in the way, and it becomes hard to get everyone together. We would have a pretty boring podcast if we just ran with two or three members.

Also, if you don't know already, we intended to put up a special "bloopercast" that we keep promising. Niner and Lynk finished the damn thing, and even though it was hilarious, it was just too damn short in our opinions to keep you guys entertained in between podcasts. We will still deliver this package, but in Jae's words; "we need some more flub ups first!"

Yeah... I can't seem to manage mustering any enthusiasm over the new Star Wars titles either... which is why the return to Indy, and especially M.I. actually caught my interest.

It seems to be a return to the classics for LA... or is it just them finally tapping all the possible SW variations dry?

Either way: Any non-SW LA game is worth a look. It would be nice to see LucasArts become a contender in the gaming world once again.

Can't wait to hear what you guys think of the new Indy game and the new Monkey Island games but I got a funny feeling that you aren't all big on the point n' click side of LucasArts which is a shame cause that was the golden era of the company.

I think we did talk about Indy in episode 7, but you can definitely expect to hear about Monkey Island in a future episode now that it's back. I know not everyone on the cast is not big into LucasArts' adventure games but I'm a big adventure game fan and am super hyped about the new MI series.

Thumbs up

The wait is over! Although it's been a wait, LucasCast HAS been putting in overtime to make up for it! This week Rogue Nine has put the finishing touches on Episode 7, and it's awesome so it will be up sometime today. Episode 8 was recorded impromptu to document Jeff's E-3 experience, and we plan to have that up midweek. Then as an added surprise we will have a nice lengthy special "BlooperCast" up by the end of the week. Thanks for your patience gang, and I hope you enjoy the fruits of our effort!

It looks like a whole lot of fun, especially if I can play with my kids.

You'll enjoy them, trust me. The sequels are great too and are a lot of fun and challenging. I can understand why you may say this as some of the younger generation today didn't grow up with Monkey Island and the other adventure games like a lot of us on here did but I'm glad its coming back cause it allows those who didn't play first time see it in a different light to what we did when first played them way back in the late 80's/ early 90's.

*gasp* MI...like all of the LA original adventures has its fair share of childish humor...but for the most part...it is humor that just about everyone can appreciate (along with some adult humor thrown in)...

Well... obviously the topic if the recent celebrity deaths is bound to come up... but a little time recognizing the current news in that regard wouldn't be a bad thing.

I agree with you on that. It's hard not to talk about people who had such influence on the entertainment industry.

We'll have to take a look at it and see how it'll improve gaming.

If you liked Monkey Island, you'll probably also like Grim Fandango.

Grim Fandango is one of my top 3 games of all time... so I like it.

I haven't played a MI title in years... but I'm really looking forward to the new ones.

They are adventure games... so a lot of puzzle solving and character interaction. Not everybody's cup-of-tea... but the humor and writing in the LA adventure games was always more than worth the price of admission.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a huge RPG guy too. But I grew up with adventure games so I will always be a fan. Strangely enough, when the LucasArts adventures were new, I didn't even know about them. I played all the other popular adventure games like Myst, Zork, King's Quest, etc, as well as all the Star Wars games of the 90s, so it's weird that I never got word of LucasArts adventure games until I joined these forums.

Start whoring out the LF Facebook site too! Found the Cast page easy enough, but the actual forum site I found by snooping around leXX's page (I feel so dirty.. hehehe, j/k girly)... took me forever to find it!

Capcom's latest...except for SUPER Street Fighter 4, because you have someone who makes a special effort just to cover anything SF related.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom (being a Marvel Vs Capcom fan I am interested in how this title is evolved from that), DarkVoid looks interesting, Monster Hunter 3, Lost Planet 2, devil may cry 4, stuff like that.

We'll murder them all, amid laughter and merriment...except for the few we take home to experiment!

We'll add it to the list!

From MST3K's spoof of "Hercules Unchained"--heard as Roman medic soldiers carry off an unconscious Greek Hercules on a 1950's Army green canvas stretcher: "Hi, we're IX-I-I. Did somebody dial IX-I-I?"

I'm guessing Alpha Protocol will be discussed a lot more than usual since its out this week and the reviews haven't been the best so far, apparently a lot of bug and framerate issues, in other words, just a regular Obsidian game.
