LEC Monday announcement

Over on their Twitter feed LEC have been talking about a Monday announcement:

"Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it's secret! Until Monday!"

"Okay, we will do hints. It is awesome news for our old school fans."

Let the speculation begin. I'm presuming that its the revival of some non-adventure back catalogue title rather than MI2:SE or anything like that.

Based on these further messages:

Quote:
I know this is something I was asking for since before I worked at LucasArts.
Quote:
It doesn't have to do with any specific intellectual property.
I'm going to go ahead and guess it's a re-release of a whole bunch of games, rather than remakes like MI1:SE. But then that doesn't seem that exciting, so I dunno!

As Craig Derrick has already mentioned it before...

Quote:
Why Xbox Live and not Wiiware or PSN?
Well, we never said we wouldn’t be on Wiiware or PSN now did we? The truth is, though, Xbox Live offers a great user experience and downloadable service to gamers and we think it’s a great platform to launch the game on. And, of course, the game will also be available on PC via digital download, plus we may have another platform announcement to make very, very soon.
... I'd say it's SOMI:SE for another platform (my guess is Wii... I hope for PSN)

They've already confirmed that this announcement won't relate to just one intellectual property (license).

Mh... okay, then I'll just hope they HD-/voiceover-/rerecordmusic-remake ALL of their older adventure games.

I guess either options to turn on the new sound and voices in the old version in SE, the possibility to buy a boxed version of the game or announcing the release of SE on another platform.

Maybe it's a new "X-Wing"-game

Oh, or maybe they're finally sueing me for my Soundtracks and Posters... ("I know this is something I was asking for since before I worked at LucasArts. ")

Haha, that's so funny because it's actually pretty much the way LucasArts used to treat the fan community. "Hey guys! You see that awesome-looking and totally harmless and not-for-profit project those guys are 99% complete on? We're closing it down!"

I think it was Emma who pointed out, we're about the only community who have an abbreviation for it. You say 'C&D' in any other forum/IRC room and people have no idea what you mean.

1. Will excite old school fans.
2. Nothing to do with any specific property.

It's probably a bundle of all the classic LucasArts adventure games with updated compatibility.

If they wanted to be super-cool, they might be sticking them on Steam. They would clean up on that platform.

Too bad LucasArts said it had nothing to do with any specific game, meaning it has to do with many games.

It's a LucasArts version of this TV show!!!!

If he hadn't mentioned "not concerning one ip" my guess would've been a new TIE-Fighter or X-Wing. Or maybe a Special Edition of one of the old ones. Those were brillant games.

Maybe they will now allow modding for their games? But currently there is none that could qualify...hmm...

well the guy who has been asking for "this" since before he started working at LEC must be a total newcomer. How old is the iPhone?

Loom on the Game Gear! Obviously the dude's wishes have had to move with the times.

Grim Fandango on the Palm Pre?

I was thinking it was going to be a new game until that last update. Now I really don't know but it probably is some form of a re-release/bundle.

I'm hoping it's a new adventure game created in-house by LucasArts that is a new original franchise.

I kinda doubt it'll be a new IP but that would be really interesting. Not sure if the new guys at Lucasarts can handle adventure games but we'll see. Maybe.

I hope they'll leave Grim Fandango alone. It's already perfect. I wouldn't exactly object to a sequel involving Tim Schafer though...

REAL LIFE LIGHTSABERS

Or maybe they're merging with another company or something like that. Or a mass XBLA/Steam release. Or REAL LIFE LIGHTSABERS. Or a new franchise altogether (although I doubt it because of the way he worded "It doesn't have to do with any specific intellectual property..."). Or they're suing Laserschwert. Or they're bringing out some hardware (like a console or something... actually I really doubt this but it's possible). Or, and this is my favourite, REAL LIFE LIGHTSABERS.

Edit:
By the way, they said "early" Monday, which I'm guessing is gonna be about 9/10am. Their time zone is UTC-8, so for me and any other people from the UK, that's gonna be about 5/6pm. Everyone else can figure it out for themselves, lazy bastards.

Edit:
Wait, I worked that out wrong... oh well.

They've just posted this which is making more guesses on what it could be;

I did say nothing to do with new IP people! Keep guessing though. I might have to retweet the guy who figures it out...

Current Game: Fate of Atlantis
Based on the messages sent on Twitter so far, I'm going to say that they are re-releasing their full line-up of adventure games with full compatibility for modern systems. Alongside that, they will remake a choice selection...

I'd imagine the obvious choices are Tentacle, LeChuck's and Atlantis.

Announcement: They invented a time and memory eraser machine that will enable them to go back exactly 10 years, delete the EMI source code and every other ****ty game since then and start over as a fresh, new company that encourages it's inspired workforce to go all out in creating funny, engaging aweinspiring new IPs with lots and lots of adventure aspects?

There are yet re-releases outside of the USA. For example, Australia, Germany and UK. Whole Europe I think.

I hope it's not just re releasing the old games.
They already did that with quite a few of their adventure games over here in Europe at least. With winXP support as well.
I hope the news is that Sam & Max 2 will be finished. Maybe Full Throttle 2 as well just in case it was near finished. And please let us play Mi:se with the old art and voices too!
