In 2015 we'll be riding hoverboards playing a remake of The Secret of Monkey Island.

Pfft, like that'd ever happen.

Edit: Oh, and: "Last hint: someone guessed it dead on. With that, I am off to bed. You'll know more in 12 or so hours. You guys are all awesome."

Blimey.

Maybe they are going to announce that they are opening a episodic adventure game dept to sell online episodes through Lucasarts.com Now that other companies did all the work of building up that medium..

I think I guessed it. I posted the following on Twitter 22 hours ago...

'Rerelease of all adventures, geared for modern systems & choice remakes for the fan faves... Tentacle, LeChuck & Atlantis?'

The fella using the 'lucasartsgames' twitter account never replied to me, and I don't believe it was out of ignorance, but to keep secrecy right until the forthcoming announcement.

The announcement caters for old school fans, does not rely on new IP and I assume already has the first stages of new artwork and technical demos available to the in-house team for release to the public.

But who knows...

I didn't get a reply either so I really doubt that means you got it right... My guess was that they would be announcing Virtual Console releases. Do you realise how many people are guessing? They can't reply to everyone!

But...

'Spose you're right.

Virtual console, 360 and PS3 releases would be charming, I forgot about them.

Perhaps they'll sneakily throw the fan community a bone by releasing high resolution individual postcards of each of the LeChuck's Revenge scanned background artworks.

You know, just in case they started looking the other way when it came to unofficial remakes...

Well, I'm certainly looking forward, and I'm starting to get impatient for monkey island SE, I have been saving the ms points in my account since announcement! And I'm an impulse buyer!

But I will still wait, it's just...hard :-(

It will. There are too many things we want, for it to deliver. Hope I'm wrong though.

Man, you are TOO funny. That "fella" didn't reply to 99% of the tweets.

Here was my (boring) guess:
All the classics are going to made available for download in versions that work on modern machines?

Well he's in work (whoever he is) he just Tweeted again:

RT @tabledrummer: @lucasartsgames and remember: the people are replying because of a LUCASARTS GAME, not because of you as a person. /cry

Yeah I bet it is just downloads... preloaded with a scummvm launcher for easy playability on new systems... Stuff we all know how to do already.

Where do we look for the announcement? On Twitter? On LEC's site?

What about the tweet "New hint: some have come close. Check my @tweets and think a bit. Some are VERY close. Just not specific enough."

None of his @ tweets seem to hint towards re-releases?

Maybe LucasArts is closing down.

Or they're getting back their original "Gold Guy"-logo.

I'm still hoping it's George Lucas: The Video Game, complete with a puzzle that involves re-editing old films whilst replacing guns with walkie talkies.

From Twitter...

'1 hour left. Now I must go through my email and sort out the 2600 emails from Twitter, then draft the perfect Tweet for you guys.'

This better be good, or I'm going to be very cross and so will my talking tattoo, Eric.

Will we be able to watch a bunch of Kurosawa films before writing scripts?
I will not buy unless there is a Jar Jar maiming simulator.

Remember the game based on a Pepperami? "Animal"? It'll be like that but with more variety, and maiming. Although attacking people with a whisk was quite original.

I can't see them just bringing out direct ports of the originals for handhelds and modern systems.

The fella running the Lucasarts Twitter seems excited enough, so I'm going to hope the best... in scurvy inducing HD.

and if they think they can make money by releasing the classics to handhelds and modern systems they will.
