No, it doesn't count and I'll not have you mentioning anything even remotely related to that terrible excuse for a webcomic on these forums, thanks.

This in turn was probably calculated by using the references to Zechariah being in the Holy of Holies (Luke 1:8-25) - which would have happened at the Feast of Tabernacles. Jesus, Luke's Gospel also claims, was conceived in the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy (Luke 1:26), placing his conception around the spring equinox.

The 25th of December was Saturnalia among the Romans, who codified the dogma of what is now the Roman Catholic Church. Originally it was named after Christ, but anyone who has checked the weather reports of the Holy land will tell you that only someone interested in frozen mutton, and frozen shepherds would be 'in the hills watching the flocks by night', so he was not born then.
It originally was supposed to be a contemplative holiday like Yom Kippur, a time to be thankful for what God had given, and consider what you did wrong. However between around 400 AD and the 10th century, the holidays of Saturnalia and Yule infected them, and began the holiday we know now.
As for 'Old Saint Nick' He was a Bishop of Myra Turkey under Diocletion, one of the first Popes of the Eastern Orthodox church. He supposedly threw money in through the window, or down the smoke hole (The chimney had yet to be invented) so that three poor women had proper doweries.

My family and I are Christians so we celebrate Christmas.
~ I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I celebrate Christmas, but for the heck of it, I voted YODA! Who doesn't like YODA?
Also......you people on the first page, how can you celebrate Christmas WITH Santa Claus, and celebrate it WITHOUT Jesus? It is because of him that there is a Christmas, or as I should say, a CHRISTmas...

All twelve days, baby, all twelve days... !
As for the "pagan holiday" (for those who think that's a bad thing) rumblings you always hear this time of year from certain folks, the way I see it, the "pagans" (an umbrella term for countless different religions over a huge period of time and geographic area) have somewhere, sometime, celebrated something on basically every day of the week, every day of the year, so if it's a matter of "who got there first" you couldn't do anything if you thought it were tainted. I figured just celebrate on your day what you want to celebrate, and don't let anyone else tell you different (well they can, but you can still enjoy yourself). If somebody asks, you can always explain it to them (over a glass of egg nog or punch, I prefer).
Even folks who hate Christmas will take the paid holiday if they can...
