Republic Mercs Model making request

Hi. for RC I guess I am 143rdShadowARCunit instead of Jaicer. I am making a mod for RC called Republic Mercs. I am currently doing it on my own so I managed to make all the skins, beam colors, etc by myself but EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE uses either clone or commando models for mods. Well I wanted to try something new! The models I am thinking of would be a clone head on a commando body with the backpack looking like the RC backpack from the comicpack. I can do the skins and such but since no one I have asked will tell me how to do this I am forced to ask someone else for help. Now the options for this is either 1. Tell me how to do it (Maybe give me a skin or an idea to start off with so i don't break my game) or 2. do it for me. I am ok with either one since I really do need help with this mod for it would be my first mod ever. If you would like to help Message me or reply to this. Thanks.

Hey! i'm 1hockeygoalie from youtube! you have stumbbled upon the site that houses (social group) Carbonite Modders! I know how to do it, and i will tell you how when i get the chance (somtime this week)

O_O wow. I didn't know that lol. I just clicked republic commando instead of KotOR by accident then decided to post the mod help thingy. Alright that would be great. do you think you could do a video or pictures?

wow that is EXACTLY like what I wanted...except fixing the colors a bit so they are the same shade of white. Th backpack also needs to be different but wow...you beat me to the punch there.

(u have to show me how to mod weapons too cuz that is just awesome)

What kind of backpack agin? I didn't understand what you meant, and yea I just did that in 5 mins to show you, the final version will be better!

well I can't seem to get a picture of the acctual backpack but have you ever seen this thing?
The backpack looks like a skinnier (or the back of the pack is closer to the commando. it's not as fat) version of the Commando backpack but has like a triangle on the top...i cant really describe it well

EDIT: the image didn't pop up so google search republic commando comic pack. the backpack might be found with that

First off, welcome to LucasForums, Jaicer! Secondly, GIMP is a free picture editor. It's a lot like Photoshop.

Thanks!. Yeah i just downloaded GIMP and, like photobucket, I have no idea how to work it so until I can find a really good tutorial on it (other than the making clone skins one here) then I will probably keep using paint to do my skins.

I looked at these and tried it but for some reason my GIMP isn't doing layers right. Although I am still wondering how I am going to do the skin for the commando with clone head.

you can use 2 skins ( the model does)
the first skin is the commando, and the second was a clone trooper skin

That's alright. Few are as skilled the great Hockey, young grasshoppah.

You just skin the two to match up in terms of design. Skin the helmet on the basic trooper and the body on the Commando. No merging needed.
UnrealEd will use them the way you tell it to once assigned.

nope. Skinning is my speciality (sorta) because it is the only thing I know how to do. That and adding random clones/droids to maps....but i don't know how to map.
EDIT: ok a couple things.
1. a friend of mine on youtube needs help with the mod he is working on (At the rate he is going he will finish before me but I still sorta have school so I can't work as fast and I still need the modeling guides to continue since I jsut finished the new commando skins today) his name is bandog2000 (he may have already talked to hockey but i'm not sure)
2. I seem to be having a problem with unrealed since it wont let me save texture files and such. help? I run on vista.
