Friday's Update August 20: Space ships and Fan Friday
Alright, today Bioware hath released a Fan Friday, chocked full of fibre and the typical fare: drawings, roleplay threads (they might be NSFW, but I didn't check), polls, concept art, and a video. In the Developer Corner section, they announced the Advanced Classes, their defining features, and their party roles. To save your time loading a webpage, I've pasted them here:

Powertech and blaster shotguns? This is starting to look like fun. It's interesting to see that the Republic has more healbots than the Sith.
On the proper update side, they have opened a webpage in the holonet about the player ships available in the game, with most currently in silhouettes save for the Jedi Defender and Sith Fury.
I wouldn't call them healbots, we don't need to insult the future potential healers. :P I swear the Agent can heal too. I saw a leaked image that showed that Agents can use a Kolto Dart to heal allies. Maybe it's just a general-purpose ability that isn't limited to either spec though, like a real hybrid in both specs.
Though more on topic, I'll definitely be a Vanguard, especially since they can use a regular assault rifle, letting me live out my Shepard/Clone Trooper dreams.

well I initially wanted to be what is now known as a Jedi Wizard... But I'd rather lick piss off a nettle than be known as that... wow. so I guess I'm a Jedi "other" atm

Yep, saying it sounds weird.
Anyway, Mercenary with its dual wield guns makes me think of Jango Fett. Which is awesome.

Could you imagine getting shot with a syringe from halfway across the battlefield? I'd rather die than suffer that, and I'm not even afraid of needles!

Funny, the name Powertech has been calling to me, so mayhaps we'll have to be tanking rivals.

I concur. The non-Jedi specialisations are all quite cool looking. Bio did a good job in making them cool. The duel wielding swashbuckling type is appealing to me too...while I was originally planning to go Sith Assassin...
I know this better than Most... But its like when George Lucas and a Young Anakin say Laser Sword instead of Lightsaber, yes its in Canon blah blah, but its also so bad its funny.

+1 to that.
Yeah, several names are not all that creative or appealing. Wizard and Shadow Jedi being two big ones. Sorcerer being the other weird one.
Also I'm just kinda sad the classes seem so cookie cutter. I was hoping that the specialized classes wouldn't look exactly the same on both sides and allow a little variety.
Creativity has been long dead in Star Wars and this is proof.
Not so sure about that when reading about some of the story lines that Bioware is putting together, but the names are certainly disappointing and really pop out when playing "which one of these is not like the others."
Maybe, but that'd be very hard for BioWare to do. 260 updates a year, one for each weekday? It's hard enough to get content on a weekly basis, as evidenced by our only having the comic last Friday.
