It took 160 replies for me to realize the topic of this thread wasn't "LucasArts hires black dude who worked on Republic Commando"...

Since KOTOR 3 is never happening, I'm very happy about this book. Cleaning up loose ends was all I ever wanted. The Exile is supposed to play a part in it also.

Just had a quick look at the link. It's the same writer from the Darth Bane books and I liked those and of course I really liked Kotor 1 & 2 so i'll definitly pick up Revan. Any idea when it'll actually be out? The article just said later this year....

I'm still not going to pay good money to play TOR though.

Yep me too, but it's not gonna happen.
And i'm not interested in TOR either (which is a first for adult minded Star Wars titles).

So the book will have to do.

Getting back on topic... http://news.bigdownload.com/2011/04/...icensing-deal/

Quote:
Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 game development tools just got a new buyer. The company announced today it has signed a multi-year agreement with LucasArts. The agreement is to use Unreal Engine as the basis for "multiple projects" at the developer/publisher. There is no word on which games will use the engine and financial details were not disclosed.

LucasArts has used previous versions of Epic's Unreal Engine before. The most notable use was with LucasArts' Star Wars Repubic Commando tactical shooter which was first released way back in 2005. Rumors of a sequel to that game have popped up on the net from time to time.

I am a very happy cookie.

@topic: Surely LucasArts will eventually realize that there is some money in following up on previous projects for existing fans, and develop some sequel/older demographic targeted title.

eventually.

mfw I read the Revan novel

it is not a cry of joy.

Star Wars Jedi Knight 3 would be much, much better than a remake of Dark Forces. Seriously, remakes are terrible.

You've been playing all the wrong remakes it seems. But that's beside the point... I was just screwing around.

Did you guys notice the bit where it says "multiple projects"? Yeah, they're in it for the long haul. It could very well be a whole new franchise, or a longer-term continuation of an existing one, in which case Jedi Knight or Battlefront would be both prime candidates.

There is always the possibility, of course, a The Clone Wars shooter. :/

I actually thought about that (awesome) song as i was writing

Anyway, it's too late for me... i've already been fooled multiple times by Lucasarts.
And here i am hoping, kinda of excited, against my better judgement... again

Many call them remakes. And in my opinion, that's what it is, despite the 'Special Edition' title.

Sorry, no, remakes are terrible even when they're well made. I'd rather play a -new- game than a game I've played before but with shinier graphics. A remake is -lazy-.

New games can be just as lazy because they turn out EXACTLY like the games that came before it.

Therefore, EVERY game is terrible.

Preference for a new game over a remake doesn't make the latter terrible.

Remakes can attract a bunch of new players to a game. I myself have never played Dark Forces or Tie Fighter games (please, don't kill me), but I would if it was given an makeover.

But I prefer original game as well, of course. As long as it's more Republic Commando original than The Force Unleashed original.
