East Coast Earthquake

How many of you people felt the quake? It measured 5.8, and its epicenter was around Richmond. I felt the earthquake all the way up here in PA. Thought my little brother was slamming something, and then thought a truck passed by our house. When I figured that wasn't likely (I live in a neighborhood), I thought something exploded. It was obvious that it was a quake when I noticed everything in the room was shaking...

It's just me practicing my earthbending; I can now cause earthquakes hundreds of miles away from my position.

But in reality, just about everyone around Atlanta felt it except for me. I didn't even find out about it until three hours after when A Plea For Purging posted something about it and a bass drop on facebook.

The Tesla earthquake resonance oscillator it appears has been successfully duplicated and has passed its beta test with flying colors.

5.8-6.0 huh? Yeah I heard about it. Not very often it happens for you eh?

Out on the west side of the states that magnitude is not really a big deal, it's when it gets to 6.5-7 is when things get exciting out here.

PA is a wetland or swampy area isn't it? You might watch out for hillside erosion more than usual. Mudslides/landslides are not something you want to get caught in.

Of course it could still happen in supposedly "dry" areas if there were any fractures in active aqueducts, gutters or drainage. Watching for water permeating the earth around it, or anything that looks like unusual erosion is key.

I've seen houses on hillsides get demolished because of a combination of these things happening. House just slides down and collapses as it goes. It's a real mess. Not to mention hazmat has to get involved if sewage becomes an issue.

Just saying watch where you tread.

I'm not too far from the epicenter and I felt nothing.

People in Hamilton, Ontario claim to have felt it, but I'm only about a half hour north of them and felt nothing.

Weird. I see "Earthquake" and "Coast" in the thread title and my first thought is California. Took me a second to realize it said "East Coast."

I know, right?

It's nothing new if you live in So. Cal, it's all like "Pshh a 6.0, HAHAHAA!"

PA isn't so much swampy as it is empty. Unless you happen to live within the immediate vicinity of Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, chances are you live out in the country, which I do, and I'm only an hour from Philly.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure this is nothing compared to California, but quakes almost never happen on this side of America.

@ Negative Sun: That's the beauty of it... people are becoming complacent. Now when the true terrifying Earthquake of DOOM occurs, the survivors will feel like idiots for not taking the first one seriously, MWHAHAHAHAHAAH...ah..,

@ Q: Ah... okay... I put a dude down and then he just puts himself down even more... hmmm... efficient, not bad.

Have family in that general area (PA/MD/DC/NY/etc..), some of whom noticed it and others that didn't. It was essentially an "aftershock" compared to WC quakes and the last one was supposedly ~70 years ago in that region.

Yeah, but those kinds of people are less fun to poke at for not taking the usual cliched bait. I went to school with a kid who turned around a mother joke at his own mom's expense and they pretty much left him alone after that. So, "efficient" ain't necessary a bad tactic.

Gotcha.

Yeah I didn't know what havoc it wreaked until after I posted that. Where you don't have to worry about tectonic plates shifting, the houses seem more prone to taking a little more of the stress--or so I hear. Not sure if there is any relation of the two whatsoever.

Of course the earth crust taking the impact doesn't mean much if you're affected by the shifting anyways or you happen to be in the vicinity of a fault line.

I am used to it since I prescribe to the same ideal. You just don't know me like, say Jeff... kind of like how I don't know that much about you to have predicted your response
