Video card incompatible
Hello, I have played KOTOR 1 on the computer I'm using several times. Now however when I attempt to run it a message appears saying "NVIDIA display driver files from different (incompatible) versions of the driver have been detected. NVIDIA OpenGL acceleration is disabled in order to maintain system stability. To resolve this problem update the NVIDIA display driver. The latest driver is available at http://www.nvidia.com." I have gone to nvidia.com and updated my driver, I also have not done any updates on my computer except for a sound card update. Any help will be appreciated.

Try using the game's configuration utility to post your system specs:

If you don't know what you have on your machine, then follow these steps below: - If you're using Vista or Windows 7, go into your game folder, find "launcher.exe" and right-click on it. Select "properties", then "compatibility" and check the box beside "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Then check the box next to "Run this program administrator" and hit "OK". (EDIT by Q)
- Bring up the launcher menu for Kotor 1 or 2 (by running "launcher.exe").
- Click on "Configure".
- Click the "Scan Hardware" button on the lower center of the window.
- Click "Yes" to continue.
- Click "Details" to view your system specs.
- Click "Save Report" and save the file to your desktop.
- Whenever you post your problem, open the file you just saved and copy and paste the contents to your post.

You can leave out the keymapping and everything after that. Also, please specify which version of Windows you are using because the game can't ID anything newer than XP.

I am using a windows 7, however I have played this game before on this computer. I am unsure what system specs I have and when I click the scan hardware button the message appears thus I can't find out. I just remembered though that I downloaded unity player. Could that be the problem?

When you updated the Nvidia drivers, did you perform a clean install?

You should reinstall the game according to the large-print instructions at the top of the second post in this thread.

*bangs head against wall* Great. Now the setup will only uninstall the program instead of installing it... Perhaps it's because my computer froze while I was uninstalling and I shut off the uninstaller?

Try this.
There are others available if it doesn't do the trick.

Still can't post your system specs?
And what is "unity player"?

No, I can't post my system specs. Unity player is a cache that allows some games (such as Battlestar Galactica Online) to load faster by saving the information on your computer.

Hm. It's very possible that's what's causing the problem.
Anyway to disable it?

Well, crap.
I just reinstalled KotOR 1 on my machine, which has Windows 7 and Nividia graphics cards with the newest drivers (301.42), and, aside from the usual quirks, it's running fine.
You might have to completely uninstall Unity Player to get KotOR to run.

Well in the end I'd rather play BSGO than KOTOR so... Oh well thanks for trying.
