I recently fixed that visual bug with the flickering polygons and black screen by using the Dantooine Lag Fix on my current modded copy of the game. So far, the game runs a bit smoother and I haven't had the graphic crash. Instead, a new problem is occurring.
Basically, whenever I try and attack anything, the game freezes, and after a little while, crashes back to the desktop. I thought it might of been due to my mods, so I tried it on my Vanilla patched game, but the crash is still happening. Prior to adding the "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1", I also got the same issue, but I would cheat my stats and unlock the door, so it occurred later when I attacked some Mining Droids. The weird thing was that I was using a lightsaber, and the game wouldn't crash unless I attacked a specific unit in the third group you encounter.
Seeing as this occurs on the Vanilla game, I'll skip straight ahead to the computer specs, based on DxDiag:
OS: Windows XP SP3
CPU: Pentium 4 3.20GHz (Dual Core)
RAM: 1GB DDR2
GPU: ATi Radeon X1300/X1550 Series 256MBs
Here's the stats from swinfo.txt on my Vanilla game copy:

In the install process, I get no conflicts (all mods that did conflict (apart from visual mods) were deleted out of laze).
Just to note, I have patched the game with the American 1.0b (I'm very sure my Australian copy is just the American copy imported), I have a multi-core CPU (apparently) so I do set the affinity to one CPU (I've tried both 0 and 1, doesn't change anything that I've noticed), I'm using the ATi Catalyst Control Center version 10.2, I've tried removing the "Read-Only" attribute from the SWKotOR2 folder in Program Files\LucasArts, and I'm forced to use a no-cd because my play disc snapped in half (I can take a screenie of the 3 other disks if you're worried about me pirating the game).
The only other thing I can think of is that I'm running the modded game off an external drive (I installed it on another computer), but that can't be it because my clean game is on the internal HDD (C:\). And yes, a long time ago, the game did work on this computer.
Hopefully one of you smart troubleshooters will be able to rip this information apart and find some kind of working solution for me. Thanks guys, I appreciate it greatly.

You can go ahead and lock this topic now, because I solved this a while back and forgot to mention it
Basically, it was a problem with a corrupt ATi Catalyst install. I removed what I could from it, then installed Omega Drivers. Works perfectly.
This signature was removed in accordance with the ACTA treaty, by some backstabbing bastards who want to remove your freedom too. Don't want yours to be next? Do something.
