Can't seem to get windowed mode to work with the usual fixes

For some reason I can't get windowed mode to work on KOTOR 1.

I edited the ini file (swkotor.ini) with the following:
FullScreen=0
AllowWindowedMode=1

I've tried doing alt+enter but all that does is minimize the game. I read where someone suggested doing ctrl+w, but that did nothing for me.


Another weird thing, although not that big of a deal is that when I start the game the launcher menu is off center. I have a dual screen setup and the launcher opens up in between the 2 screens. The other odd thing is I can't see any menu options for like new, save, config. Although the exit option is always visible.

The game plays fine however, I don't see any glitches or other problems with gameplay. The only I really want is to get the game to work in windowed mode.

Some other details if it helps troubleshoot this issue. I'm running the game in a custom resolution 1440x900 on a Windows Vista (32 bit) install. My screen supports 1920x1080. I've tried disabling dual screen, which did'nt make a difference. Not really sure what else to try, I'm open to any suggestions.

Turns out I needed to run the following files in Windows XP Service Pack 2 Compatibility Mode and Run as Administrator:

launcher.exe
swconfig.exe
swkotor.exe
