Last night it started with rain, then it started snowing, and raining. Over the course of the night the wet slop froze and was covered with snow.

Welcome to Wisconsin spring. Hopfully i will be able to get some of the driveway and sidewalk cleared without having to resort to waiting for salt to break up some of the ice

Ski weekend time. I figure the best possible outcome for this trip is that I break every bone in my body, and during my long recovery in the hospital a beautiful nurse falls in love with me due to the Florence Nightingale effect. I mean, I guess I COULD just meet someone at the ski resort and skip all of the agonizing pain of breaking all my bones, but previous experience tells me this is not likely.

Life is blah.

Weather sucks. Too much work. Not enough fun.

That is all.

It's cold and rainy here in Rochester.

It's like freezing rain.... so I fear an Ice Storm is coming to our area.

yeah i waited 30 minutes for a bus in the rain today only to have it completely ignore me and keep going. i was so mad because in that 30 minutes of waiting i could've been home. i got so angry that i actually contemplated waiting for it to come back around so i could jump in front of it and start **** with the driver...i wouldn't have been as angry if i hadn't decided to wait for it. the rain, iced over neglected sidewalks and 3" puddles didn't help me calm down either. and it also didn't help that i have a ****ing cold.

but whatever, TGIFF.

People don't understand how cool curling is. For $55 i enter into a bonspiel, which is a curling tournement where we get three games guarantee(about 2 hours per game). Also i get Friday supper, Friday snacks, Saturday Morning breakfast, Saturday lunch, a bunch of coupons for local bars to do a "Bar Crawl", Saturday dinner. AND if i win my three games i come back sunday for breakfast and left over lunch.

We win our first game on Friday at about 9pm. Our next game isn't until 1130am Saturday. So we sit at a table with our opponents and the liquor flows. Our opponent brings two bottles of liquor. We have free beer, Free snacks. SOme shot girls come around and over the course of the evening i have about three shots. Also we have a raffle and i win (cost me a total of $5 in raffle tickets) a bottle of rum with some good friends who enjoy curling.

I finally sober up enough to get home at 2am in the morning

Not to mention i have a hat I won along with my raffle, which the shot girl wore. I am saving the scent and extracting some DNA so I can clone her and she will be mine!

That sounds like good value for the money.

Of course, I can no longer read about you curling without envisioning this:

looking at 2 places to take karate classes...i just went and bought a TON of food, first time i ever bought raw chicken breasts, got that stocked up in the freezer, plus i got a **** ton of vegetables like a damn good supply of them steamed/frozen and canned. getting back a ton of money from my taxes...really want to start working out and getting back into shape and getting over the lame bar scene. got in touch with a promising karate place...adult lessons are monday-thursday 7:30-8:30 only downfall is it's 2 miles away to walk to. going to scout it out on foot tomorrow and check out the surroundings.

Frozen vegetables are great. Chicken breasts are super simple to prepare. best thing is to use a marinade with the chicken over night before you cook it.

For me my team lost it's 2nd and 3rd game and were out of the tourny. met a lot of good friends and had a good time. one of our players got tanked, to the point he could barely stand up. Thankfully we had a designated driver for him.

But, the skip invited me to play in Bemidji, MN for another Bonspiel. This is the home of Pete Fenson, who was the 2006 Olympic Bronze medal winner.

just got back from a 4 mile walk, decided to take my dog with me. longest i've walked him in a while, and considering i'm going to casino tonight, at least he'll be too tired to get upset that im away. on the way back we did some interval runs. much nicer spot to run, it's straight forward, not much ice on the ground, that'll be my new spot to run since it's right there (1/2 mile away) and i won't have to rely on a bus to get me there.

So after typing on my new keyboard most of the weekend, I worked today, in which I am not allowed a mechanical keyboard of any kind.

It took great effort not to rage destroy my work keyboard. I hate typing on anything but the MX Cherry Blue switches now.

So much hhaaattteeee.....

one of the things you need to know about Martial arts, is find a good instructor. A lot of people think they can learn some martial arts and open up their own school, and never know anything about teaching or running a business. Too often getting a black belt includes increasing your ego Tenfold.

Back when I was doing martial arts I tried going to differant schools, but none of them could teach worth a damn. It was "Look at how awesome I am, do what I do"

yeah this place i looked up online, has been in business for a long time. i wish i lived closer to the place i was going, that Sensei was in his 70s, James Ambrose, good guy. pretty sure he still instructs there. always had a good training session when i was there. i'm really hoping this place is good. there's another place i also want to check out, if the red dragon karate usa place ends up being lame (as in not what im looking for) it's called 'american dojo karate' but from their website it seems like a mix of karate and buncha other things, so idk about that one probably more oriented towards children.

Boiled chicken? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?! you trying to dry it out and make it inedible?

Better to poach it in a flavorful broth. Bring the seasoned broth to a simmer for about 15 minutes, then to a rolling boil, remove from heat, place chicken in broth, and let it sit covered for about 15 minutes

it didn't taste too bad. skinless chicken breast, after i cooked it i cut it up and mixed it with steamed veggies. made it last 2 meals.

I decided to by Call of Duty Ghosts Hardened Edition on my Xbox One. it's 54% complete with installation. should've just went to store and purchased. actually Thief came out today, so i may pick that up before coming home after class today.

Meh. Work sucks. Winter sucks. Life... kinda sucks right now.

Looking forward to spring... when I can go outdoors without my skin hurting, and having to be extra careful about every step I take so I don't slip and fall and break my ass.

But, then there's this I discovered on my iTunes at work today:

When you see it...

lol didnt take long to see it, noticed right away.

checked out a route to planet fitness, it's actually alot closer than the way i'd drive to it...roughly a mile and a quarter away! I walked it with my dog, and it was so cold. can't stand it being this cold i really want to go running and walking everywhere but it has to be cold PLUS windy. not fun, pretty sure i have some form of frost bite. guess i'll make use of my planet fitness gym membership, i just need to figure out a plan...probably just do intervals on the treadmill and do longer runs on the elliptical.

hoping i do alright on my tests tomorrow...been playing xbox since i got home, played ghosts for a few hours guess i'm near the end of the campaign, and once i got fed up with the ai "teammates" (aka buddy ****ers/blue falcons) i switched on Battlefield 4 multiplayer, lots of fun then my friend joined in for a couple games.

Meant to mention this yesterday, but I did well in my brackets last week. They ran four of them, with me winning two of them and coming in second in the other two. I got a dollar refund, so I got $15 back, representing $10 in profit.

I just read that. Dang, he wrote some of the best Star Wars books there were. And I didn't know this until just know, but he worked with Origin and wrote Claw Marks, the manual to the first Wing Commander game. That was one of the best game manuals ever. RIP.

Weird random connections my job occasionally affords me:
Last week we had the Governor of Mass. on stage talking about Sun Ra (his dad was in the band.)
Later this week: Hugantic tribute show to Harry Belafonte.

Tonight: A concert by the guy who played Worf's dad on Star Trek:TNG.

Wow, what kind of music is Worf's dad going to play?

33 today. I guess I'll spend it like all happy birthdays are spent -- cleaning my house

Mostly Yiddish and Hebrew. I think he was also in the original run of Fiddler. He's almost 90 now.
He seems cool. Some of the musicians he's playing with... um... not so much. Not been my favorite day at work ever, it must be said. Some words were exchanged about mic choices and such...

And Happy Birthday!

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.
