Question The Voodoo Cannonball

I was wondering about the importance of the Voodoo Cannonball in CMI. It seemed extremely important in the first act, yet was never mentioned after. Did Lucasarts forget about it? I thought it would play a major role later in the game and I was puzzled after finishing the game.

The voodoo cannonball was also the thing that transformed LeChuck from a normal run of litter zombie pirate to that horrifying yet strangely lovable fire demon that you saw for the rest of the game. Without the cannonball he would still be known as the "Zombie Pirate LeChuck"

Question

Can someone explain me what exactly that voodoo cannonball was? What happened to LeChuck's ship, and what would happen if it hit the fort? Sorry my bad english

The voodoo cannonball was a cannonball with voodoo in it. Lechuck's ship capsized and sank when he dropped the voodoo cannonball. If the cannonball hit the fort, the fort would be voodoo-ized.
