Recommended add on level

Can anyone advise me on a good add on level for Jedi knight or Mysteries of the sith? These would be single player levels for a note. I'm mainly interested in the lightsaber fighting ones. What I would most be interested in would be add ons based on the classic movies. I've seen a few, but none are really recommended. Why don't people want to make lightsaber fights from the classic shows? It would be neat to see a well created fight between Vader and Luke. I guess most gamers are focaused on the Kyle era and upcoming episodes. Thanks for your opinions.

Try looking over at TACC. They're the local SP specialists.

It can take quite a long time to make a decent one. Massassi is the best place for information about level creating. Look through the tutorials. There's several newbie guides; and if you have any questions after that, feel free to ask us.

Cool Guy

Yes, when it comes to Level Creating, go to the Massassi.net forums (I lurk through there occasionally, just to drool over upcoming levels). They will teach you well.

Then come back here when you want ideas.

Yeah, I've been wonderin around there, but a lot of it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I have no idea how Jed works to start things off lol. I was trying to read about creating the characters, but well, I've gotten sort of lost. Thanks for the help.

Heh, heh. Yeah, I know what you mean, it does look daunting when you first start level editing. But now I've gotten pretty good at using JED and it really isn't to hard, once you get used to it.

Thanks, I'll try to check that level out. Also, anyone got any quick starter tips for making a level? All the tutorials I see jump right into it as if you know how to use the program? Thanks.

Well, the hardest thing for new guys/gals to learn is the saving process, so let me break it down for ya in steps.

Start up Jed, of course.

Step One: Check the consistancy checker. This will warm you if there's any errors in the level and should always be done.To check it hit F10. It should be blank.

Step Two: File > Save. Do that. YOu should make a folder for your level. Save it to that folder.

Step Three: File > Save JKL. Svae it to the same place you saved the other.

Step Four: Hit F8. When the window comes up, give the level an Episode Name, Level Name and Some text for when the level starts up. Important: Before closing this window, hit the UPDATE button and then the save button.

Step Five: File > Gob Project. You save this file to the Episode Folder that's in your Jedi Knight directory. Give it it's own unique name so you know what it is.

Step Six: Go into the jedi Knight single player level selection screen and there should be a new one there. Click on it and test it. It should be a small default colored box.

I haven't done this in a while so if that doesn't work, tell me. The next lesson will be on controlling the grid and to a lesser extent, matting.

Thanks a lot. I went to that Massisi newbie tutorial and that helped a lot. For some reason though I can't get the item placement thing to work. Heh, I made a multiplayer level that is one big grey box. Then later, I tried to make it again, and when I selected to load it, Jedi knight just quit on me. i guess like I've been told you have to do everything just right. Thanks again.
