Severe Freezing Problem w/ Geforce 2

My system:

P3 550mhz
Geforce 2 Mx400
256Megs Ram
Win XP Pro

I can play single player with an excellent framerate in 800x600 16bit for 15 or 20 minutes and then I will get the infamous freeze with looping sound, loss of all keyboard/mouse function, computer eventually reboots itself. WinXP logs errors, and everytime it reports the Nvidia display driver as the problem. I have the latest drivers. I haven't tried MP enough to see if it happens in that mode as well

I also had this same problem with Return to Wolfenstein, but mostly in MP, almost never in SP. I was able to fix it in Wolf by doing the hunkmegs trick.

The hunkmegs trick doesnt seem to work in JK2 SP. I tried turning GL Extensions off, but it causes a major hit on my framerate.

Does anyone have an alternate solution other than turning GL extensions off and adding the hunkmegs line?

Thank you
AiS

What drivers are you using?? I've read that the 21.83 detonators are the best for GF2 based cards.. I think Chang[RAVEN] has a sticky somewhere that says another set besides the 21.83's also work..
