Question Who is the Jedi Outcast?

I've been thinking about this one recently, I automatically assumed that it was Kyle since he neglected his force powers, but the more I think about it, it has to be Desann, because Luke wouldn't help an "outcast" so by helping Kyle, we know it isn't him.

Why wouldn't Luke help Kyle? He'd probably help Desann had he accepted Kyle's offer at the end. Kyle being the Outcast is the only thing that makes sense, why would they name the game after Desann?

Well, if you think about it, both Kyle and Desann were outcasts in one way or another...so it applies to both...and it was a smart move by Raven to build that element into the story...

Desann is an outcast because
spoiler:
he was shunned on his homeworld for posessing "magic powers."

That may not be a spoiler but I don't want to give anything away... never know what people don't want to know about.

Luminous beings are we... not this crude matter.

In one of the reviews (PC Gamespot I believe), the review says that the game title refers to both the hero and the villain:

Jedi Knight (2): Kyle
Jedi Outcast: Desann

Yes...but Kyle never turned to the Dark Side -- Desann did.

This is the reason that Luke helps him...

Smile They're BOTH Jedi Outcasts

I'm pretty sure that at the end of the game Kyle...

spoiler:
...comments on the irony that it took an outcast to defeat an outcast.

They're both outcasts in a certain sense.

Kyle is an outcast in the genreal Jedi comunity because he never had any formal training. True, Luke never did, but he had a lot more than Kyle.

See, Kyle never was TAUGHT that the Dark Side would be there. I mean, RIGHT there. He was also never disaplined (SP) in strictly, light.

Also, most Jedi SHUN the use of agrresive powers, relying only on thier saber for attack. Kyle USES much of the Dark Sides powers. (The Ends Justify the Means mentality that the Jedi DON'T LIKE, especially when it dabs with teh Dark Side.)

This is why he's an outcast. One of the few that usues both sides, which, to many, is a large danger to everyone.

Desann's and outcast for the reasons stated above, AND the fact that he DID turn fully to the Dark Side.

Actually, Kyle *did* fall to the Dark Side in MOTS. That's why Mara had to go and save him. This is also why he gave up his saber, etc. Remember, the temple on Drummond Kaas was a Sith temple.

Duct Tape is like the Force: it has Light Side and a Dark Side and it binds the galaxy together.

*there are a few spoilers here* sorry

i agree with wat most ppl r sayin
there both outcasts, desann for being outcasted from the academy
and kyle for giving up the saber then returning through the valley of jedi, no other jedi does that , so in a way he is an outcast and because now he is alone

It makes sense to immedatly say Kyle.
But as the storyline progresses it changes, neer the end you see it change again. I kinda did have a problem at the end but if that is what raven wanted that is their own pergotive.

Well, I found an interview with Mike Stemmle (the scriptwriter of JO) and he says it's Dessan:

"Now: Kyle encounters the Jedi Outcast, and reclaims the Force in a fit of rage."

Interesting. I always assumed that KYLE was the Jedi Outcast, but I guess it makes sense for Dessan too... Thanks for answering these strange questions.

your all wrong, the jedi outcast is *drum roll* Jan Ors, she is the only character who is a big part of the story, and is not a Jedi or in any way has the force. (she *****ed and *****ed about how she was an outcast so raven decided to put her on the title)
