How do I make a good topic??

Every time I make a topic I get no answers, but you guys always seem to. Whats the secret??

Good question really... well.. it must be something that's worth discussing about for starters

don't post in any topics but your own. it looks like you're getting alot of replies, so someone will click on it and reply saying 'why you talkin to youself?' or some other dum thing, and you can start a little friendly flame war.

Don't worry about peeps not replying to your posts. I was in the same boat when I first came here.

There are several routes to gets lots of replies.

#1 Flame baiting - Post a topic that you know gets people angry (existance of god, abortion, whether Han Solo and Chewbacca were more than buddies, ect) and watch everyone get mad at each other.

#2 Trolling - Post on a certain subject but get it wrong somehow and everyone will come in to correct you.

#3 Post a tried and true thread formula that works such as 'Lets Count', 'Post pics of what you look like', or 'Complete the next word'.

#4 Learn the forum "culture". Certain topics just take off around here and you just have to learn what makes us tick. hehehe.

(Please don't try #1 or #2, we have to much fun around here for that mess! #3 is okay but #4 is ost welcome!)

In my experience it is always the big flame wars that are the funnest. Garindan and Boba start the war. Everybody gets mad and then they pull out their light sabers. Everyone starts hiring mercenaries to fight for them. This is usually the point when Pedro comes in and calls everybody to peace. I suggest a party and offer cookies. Then for some reason or another Paul comes out of retirement and insist that we go fight the Vong. Then somebody suggests that we invite the Vong to the party. Somebody gives them some Doritos. Finally the next day the topic dies. We go back to complaining about Lucas Arts and talking about small little topics like armadillos and such. Then every few weeks or so we come up with a theme, like the movies. Everyones topics stick to that theme. Then that theme dies down. The cantina starts to die down so Garindan starts nagging Boba Rhett and the cycle repeats.

Or, you could post something nostalgic like about the original Dark Forces. Then you'll get everybody thinking about the game, and how great it is, and they will say that they will now try to get their old over-used copies to work. Then, they will thank you for reminding them of the game that was their first love and brought them such hours of happiness - sounds like an Oprah show - or whatever. Great Topic Starter.
