pokemon, now that brings back memories. man i hated them. all over the place. my frined keep denying that he had anything to do with them, but we all saw he trading the cards and talking strategies. man was that annoying. ever noticed that all big fads bring out trading card games and yet no one pays attention to the game, they just buy them and trade tham. should the people who make them even bother to make up game rules?

You know what bugged me?
how come you have to name your pokemon for what he is?
that's like naming your dog 'dog...your cat 'cat' etc....

I mean c'mon...just imagine the following scenario:

*ash brings home a Pikachu...his first pokemon*

Ash: look mom! I got me a pokemon!
mom: aw, he looks hungry...come here little pikachu...
Ash: mom! he has a name you know...
Mom: sure....pikachu
Ash : no mom....his name is Hank
mom: well that's silly...he's a pikachu
ash: so what?
mom: so you gotta call him 'pikachu'
Ash: i dont wanna call him pikachu!! his name is Hank!!
mom: You cant call him Hank dear, He's a pikachu
Ash: F U C K you mom!!!
Mom: now you watch that language young man!!!
Ash : Make me...B I T C H!!!
Mom: THATS IT!!! you'r grounded!!
*ash flips mom the bird*
Mom: FOR LIFE!!!!

*Ash runs away from home and gets eaten by a pack of hungry Bulbuzaurs*

Re: Re: pokemon

Damn, why are there never any serious manga cartoons on tv? The only I see are
Pokemon (BORING),
Digimon (huh? they have a story? where?),
DBZ (or: how to fill a 25 minutes episode with absolutely noting) and
Shinzo (I don't hate this one YET)

Congratulations, you just survived another sig!

There are many other more serious animes/mangas, including:
  • Yuyu Hakusho
  • Ranma 1/2
  • Love Hina
  • Tenchi
  • DragonBall
  • Gundum
  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Sailer Moon
  • And many more

Depends on which Tenchi continuity you're watching. The OVA series is much more serious than the others, although the 3rd movie seems to be the most series of all, and it belongs to the first TV series continuity.

I can agree with you on Sailor Moon.

Kj°len: I think your definition of "serious" needs serious re-defining.
  • Yuu Yuu Hakusho -- sometimes.
  • Ranma 1/2 -- serious? I think not.
  • Love Hina -- Yet another "silly" series.
  • DragonBall -- Dragon Ball was never too serious, either. It concentrated more on humor than other things. Dragon Ball Z concentrated more on fighting, which may make it seem more serious, but in animation, the fights drag out too long. Hence detractors have called it "Drag-on Ball Z."
  • Gundum -- I've never heard of "Gundum." I have, however, heard of "Gundam." Most of the Gundam series have been serious.
  • Cowboy Bebop -- Seems to be somewhat serious from the promos I've seen. Never bothered watching it, though.

I guess I said 'serious' then forgot that I was talking about serious only animes.... that's sad...
I've never accually Seen Sailer Moon, Ranma 1/2, Love Hina or a full episode of Cownoy Bebob so....I should shut up now.

wow...this is an old topic.

but i'll post here...yes, i do remember pokemon. that was a really fun game. in fact i still have the games for my game boy...and both of the pokemon stadium games...and pokemon puzzle league, and pokemon pinball.

i can't believe they still make the games, though. and the show is still going. and for some strange reason it's only going here still, it's not even liked in japan anymore, where it was created.

can you imagine being really old and then pulling out the pokemon games and giving them to your grandkids or whatever? that'd be weird.

does anybody here live in japan? for some reason, it seems like everyone lives in the...western hemisphere. except niko. or is he in the western hemisphere?

hm.

i have writer's cramp, bad. it hurts to be typing this.

I liked pokemon, and I would still play it if only they hadn't added about 200 more to the original 150-something. And if about 100 copies of Pokemon had been produced. It was a fun game and stuff. Oops gotta go!

There is no western hemisphere. The world is round, bucko!

If there were a non-western hemisphere I guess that's where I would be together with Nico, Laserschwert, scabb, Emma, LucasTones and probably all the Aussies...

HEMISPHERE
Definition:
1. [n] either half of the cerebrum
2. [n] half of the terrestrial globe
3. [n] half of a sphere

I stand corrected

I still think it makes no sense talking about West and East when the only directions one can pinpoint are North and South.
