Kath Soucie
More than anything, I'm looking forward to hearing Maureen's voice again. That voice is damn sexy. Soucie voices a character in JK2, but she sounds very different from Maureen.
I'm guessing that the woman who knocks the bikes over in the trailer is Maureen.

I'd like to think it's safe to assume Soucie will reprise the Maureen role, assuming Maureen does in fact appear in FT2. Since Soucie just did voices for JKII, we know she's still involved with LEC.

well, from looking at the FTII trailer, i can see that she probably is back (assuming she's the girl who knocks over the bikes) so yeah, Soucie will be back for FTII

I think that's really an EMI Guybrush cameo - the guy cutting the trailer together didn't realize that he was including an in-joke. We all know from Monkey 2 that Guybrush likes dressing as a woman.

now that's not fair on guybrush, he was forced to dress up as a woman, the fact that that woman (whoever she may be and god forbid she is Mo) looks like him in emi (which was insulting to the monkey island saga and i won't count it as a real monkey isalnd game, cmi was lucky) is besides the point.

I've just spent a not insignificant amount of time trying to figure out how this one line demonstrates that Guybrush is dumb and ignorant, but I still fail to see it.

i know it was a joke, i just said it because, well a bucket of mud isn't exactly the greatest thing to have is it, i guess i just put that in there because it was funny at the time. but you have to admit that guybrush was dumb and ignorant in the first two and just became more dumb and ignorant in the second two, i mean think about it, surley that ship in the first must have had some kind of rowboat on it, but he just had to use the cannon. and who'd think of wearing a pot on your head as a helmet for being fired out of a canno, twice. you have to admit, that was pretty dumb.

well, i guess i could have left guybrush on melee without any money, forced to wander the streets with nothing to his name, or i could have left him on the boat for all eternity. sorry, i know you were just joking. been having rough day, shouldn't have taken out on you, sorry dude.

I think this thread is the thing that gets increasingly dumb.
And Gilbert made Monkey 2, which is where the "Bucket of mud" line came from... So I can't see how that is evidence of the games going downhill after he left?
Anyway, see the first line of this post again.

the bucket of mud thing wasn't trying to prove the downfall of monkey isalnd after gilbert, i new very well where it was from and when gilbert left, it was meant to prove that guybrush was dumb and ignorant in the first two. if you want proof of him being more dumb and ignorant in the second two, play the games and you'll see how. but agree with jake, this is getting increasingly dumb, so lets stop now before this gets really dumb (it has happened, you can't deny it)
Peace
Josh

that just goes to show how quickly a thread can change topic, this started off as a Kathy Soucie thread and suddenly we're talking about guybrush threepwood. if y'all want to do that, go to the monkey island forum of lucasforums, that's what it's there for.

actually i've been there since last december (that one kinda backfired on ya didn't it) but if you're suggesting that i leave the FT forums, well i wont because i like FT as much as MI and won't leave because one person wants me to. if you're not suggesting that then lets forget this whole thing ever happened.

I personaly DON't Think its Mo. Mostly because she was acting WAY to ditzy to be Mo. The Writers/animators whould(hopefuly) not destroy a charicter like that. I personaly think she's a runaway who winds up getting ben into a HEAP load of trouble. IMO.

Sorry to break it to you adventurer, but that HAS to be mo. If you pause the video, when it does a close up on her, and then look at a picture of her from FT1, the hair is exactly the same shape. I don't think they would give someone else mo's hair. I really WISH it wase'nt mo, or at least they dont make her charcter like the tiny (and horrible) glimpse that we got in the trailer, but with what i have seen, i am very convinced that they ruined mo.
I also have to say that i don't like what they have done with FT2 for the most part. The 3d enviroments look great, but the charcters look poorly done. Ben just does not look like ben, and the fact that he isent going to sound like ben is going to make matters worse. I dont think they captured the whole "black lines for eyes" style (witch kicked @$$ btw). I hope they arent going to leave the charcter models the way they are, cause they are nothing like the orriginal right now. I think they should give up on the black line eyes thing, and go for normal eyes. That did appear in full throttle though they were'nt as common as the black line eyes. I also go the hint that ben puts a lot more "emotion" in his actions then in ft1. I dont know quite how to explain it, but he seemed a lot less "calm" then he did in ft1. I personally think that this will ruin the Ben charcter. All the negative points put aside, it looks like ben is going to be a little more bad assed. That combined with the fact that it IS a full throttle sequal, will probably prusuade me to buy it, if my fears are realised.

Incredible what all kinda things people can assume out of two minutes long camera shot FT2 trailer that wasn't even released to the general public.
FT2 doesn't even have a webpage yet, there is almost no info to be found on the game.
The only thing I can safely assume out of all this is that the game is still in early productions stage. So we aren't going to see it for some time and a lot can be changed for good or for bad.
I know that this short trailer is the only material we've got to work on, but saying things like Ben doesn't look as calm as he did in FT1? This assumed from the action sequences in the trailer, but as far as I know, in a trailer you ussually put interesting scenes which show a lot of action, Ben got a fair share of action in FT1 as well nad made a few really nasty faces. But the trailer could just show Ben calmly riding out in the dessert for two minutes, then we could all say, yep Ben is as calm and cool as he was in FT1.
About Ben's 3D model I personally think it's made very good, of course the resolution isn't that good on the trailer, but I still like it, of course it isn't right to compare it to a cartoon drawn character (of course there's no other way here), it would be like comparing a computer made character to a live actor, to a degree you can, but that's it.
As for Mo, well, we'll see, it's still to early to say anything, but I don't think it's that bad.
Really liked the original hope they make a good job out of it, this could bring adventure games back, where escape from Monkey island failed.

you know, that's a good point. i don't know of any other site which has this trailer apart from Mojo which is the basic place for lucasfans. so they may have put this up as a 'what we've got so far' movies so they can read what we "the fans" think and change it accordingly. so for all we know, thatmay have been there idea of mo, but she could be different in teh final result. and ben may be slightly calmer in the end product, or, if allowed, able to kick anyones arse whilst still holding his dignity anf heir of ambiguity. what do you think? (now this thread is being productive. finally.)

I think if Lucasarts is looking on messageboards for game design ideas, thats pretty bad. Usually a designer probably has a clear concept of what he will do and what the characters will be like in the game.
I personally don't see too much Mo in the girl in the trailer. Because she is clumsy with bikes and what not. The game producer probably has a very good concept of how that character (who probably isn't Mo) will act and how that will fit into the game's story.
Even though that was pretty preliminary the scenes shown were obviously FMV. If they have FMV done of the game they probably have a good bit of the game felshed out already....Lucasarts usually doesn't show its games off until they are pretty far along in production already. I remember the first previews of Grim Fandango in Computer gaming world had screenshots of locals ranging from Manny's office...to the boat in the middle of the game....and then to the final temple at the end of the game. The game's story and feel was already complete. It took a while for it to come out, but the game was practically finished in the design aspect.
I image Full Throttle 2 is also further along in production then one might think, and that not much will change as we get more information.
BTW Slovenija forever!

Okay, first off, the video wasn't "obviously" anything... and FMV refers to "Full Motion Video", as in, live actors shot on video, and then compressed into digital movies. The term came out as a result of streaming CD technology, that allowed video to stream "full-motion" for the first time, as opposed to single shots.
Second, your statement about LucasArts not releasing information about games until they're "pretty far along in production" doesn't make any sense. They obviously had to preview Grim WAY before it came out, I'm sure it wasn't nearly done. And they say FT2 isn't coming out til 2003!
That trailer looked like a TEASER to me.. you know, like they do with movies a year before they come out. They don't need to have everything done to create a TEASER trailer.

you know, i think it was a teaser, with no actual dialogue or a hint of the storyline, they are probably in the middle of the whole proccess and are so sure that they will finish it, they gave out a little teaser. that's what most games do, when the game designers are far enough through making a game that they know it will come out in the next year or so, they will put out a teaser to make people anxious instead of just telling you a few months before release. broken sword three was announced about a year ago and that's not coming out until oct 2003.
